This is an incredibly historic site in Santa Barbara history. 2 tribes of Chumash Indians lived here for 10,000 years. This is where Spain landed and began colonizing the area. In the 1950's and 60's, this was the site of the World's largest orchid farm. There is a book called The Royal Rancho, if you are a history buff. We are a farm on the beach just North of Santa Barbara and Goleta, Ca. You will camp in a historic, glass greenhouse with incredible ocean views. Inside is a cob pizza oven that works awesome. (Bring your own firewood),,, a place to pitch tents and tiny artistic structures to explore. You will have a private bath and shower (Primitive, no electricity, but the hot shower has the best view in the world of any shower!) Bring your own toiletries and whatnot.  Private beach access from our property. We have a barnyard with a multitude of farm animals. Limited electricity in greenhouse (A couple of extension chords). The fire ban is ONLY for open campfires. The pizza oven and YOUR bbq or propane flame is fine.   If you are camping during the rain, be advised, it gets wet in the greenhouse. It's an antique after all!

Private Beach Farm
We brought our little ones (ages 4 and 1) and had a blast! The animals are just steps away from the greenhouse, and the beach was fairly close too. The kids loved playing at the "creek" trickling into the ocean. It was filled with smooth stones and driftwood that we played with for hours. Loved being at the beach with the option to not worry about ocean waves. The greenhouse was magical. We were glad to have a pizza oven and sink with running water. The doors on both ends also closed so we didn't have to worry about the kids wandering off, either. Thanks, Jinger and Fred, for a great camping experience!

Private Beach Farm
Out host Jinger was very nice and showed us around as soon as we arrived. However we quickly observed that the property was nowhere close to being in the condition as it was represented in the photos in the listing. We did thoroughly enjoy the semi private beach and the beautiful views of the ocean and having a flush toilet and shower was also nice. The campsite for our trailer was right be the opening to the greenhouse and we had no less than about 10 groups of people walk through our campsite on their way to look at the property or while they were getting tours. This was disruptive and we were not alerted to this ahead of time. The greenhouse itself was in bad shape and looked nothing like the photos. Each of the structures had tons of dirt, dust and spiderwebs everywhere. All the furniture was covered in dirt and mold and was literally falling apart to the point you couldn’t sit on it if you wanted to and in no way was it in any shape to comfortably camp in. Thankfully we had our little trailer otherwise it would have been a issue. Overall, there are many nice things about this property such as the beach, the nice farm animals, the sunsets and the stars. But just be aware that it may not be as clean and nice as it looks in the pics and that it is a working farm so be prepared for tractors, lots of people, roosters crowing and general activity all around.

Third Visit
Our third visit to this magical place. The beach suffered from a bit of erosion but the farm and animals were still charming.

Private Beach Farm
What more could you want
This place is so lovely. A private greenhouse? An ocean view from your tent? A secluded private beach? Horses, goats, alpacas, and chickens? Water, bathrooms, and a pizza oven? What more could you want from a camping getaway. We absolutely loved staying here and I was so sad to leave. Fred and Jinger have a wonderful property and they are truly living the dream. It was nice to be able to partake in that even just for a few days. I have dreamed of owning a beach farm, and this place only strengthened that dream. I’m glad places like this exist.

Camping on the coast
Very cool property with lots of space to explore. Private beach access practically all to yourself is probably the best feature on the property.
