We only stayed one night at the tent but loved every minute! Grant called before we arrived to give us directions to the site so we would be prepared when we arrived in the dark. Everything was easy to find, just as he said. The trampoline was more comfortable than we expected! Bring extra towels in case of condensation. The area under the trampoline was perfect for food prep and hanging out. Above all, the waterfall was BEAUTIFUL! The short “hike” from the tent to the falls was easy for us and our German Shepherd to navigate. We had a wonderful time- can’t wait to return!

Weekend Trip to Covenant View Camp and Retreat
The yurt had a small blow up mattress, which was a plus because it wasn’t listed in the description (at least to my memory). The land was absolutely beautiful, and he took the time to make sure we got to our yurt safely. Made my friend and I feel incredibly safe as two young women traveling alone together. We would definitely stay here again.

We loved staying on Robby’s land. He was friendly, and met us at the gate to give us some directions and details about the campsite. The campsite had 6 spots, and most of the were concentrated on one side of the field, so you may be close to others if you choose on of those. We had no one around us, and aside from the occasional train passing by, it was very peaceful. We had great views of the night sky and saw a few shooting stars while we were out. Plenty of space, good access to a bathroom. We had to walk out a bit to get some firewood, but that wasn’t a difficult endeavor. We all had a great time and would stay here in the future.

Big Mouth is my favorite campground! Chris, the owner makes you feel so welcome. He’s so accommodating. He’s always around to make sure everyone is safe. The place is beautiful, with rolling hills all around your flat camper camping space. I drive a 22’ Sprinter. I got to use the electric hook ups for the first time! There’s plenty’s of non electric spots where you can stay and save a little money too! Or go booshy and stay in a tiny tiny cabin with heat and AC. There’s a nice bathhouse where you can also buy ice. There’s two suites above the bathhouse with their own showers and kitchenettes! The suites are very nice! My friend stayed in one this weekend and I stayed right outside in my camper. Our other friends stayed in a tent beside me. 3 different ways of staying all within 20 feet of each other with a campfire and chairs between us. Or get a whole bigger cabin to yourself! Did I mention Chris is a wonderful host? The caverns is great too! Everyone here is so nice. Be sure to pack out what you pack in and go a step further and pick up any trash you may see. I’ve maybe picked up the smallest of pieces walking to and from the caverns. There’s a nice lit path from Big Mouth to the caverns. Give yourself 15 minutes for the walk. There’s security at every gate. They are very nice and keep us safe. Or there’s shuttles, just call chris to ask about what the best shuttle service is that weekend. I’m out of characters, but I could go on and on. Happy Camping! -Anabelle

LOVED this campsite! As soon as we showed up we added another night lol We have been on the road for about 2 weeks and it was one of my favorite stops. We’re traveling in a 23ft converted school bus and had zero problems finding the property and picking a spot. The property is beautiful and comes with some great amenities including water fill up :) would for sure stay again!

This space was absolutely perfect for hosting my friends and I for tent camping! The ability to put food in their fridge was big help. The site is close to beautiful waterfall hiking trails (less than 10 minutes away from trailheads) so we didn't have to go far to enjoy nature. The port-a-potty/shower facilities are nothing fancy but available and for a night, were perfectly sufficient. Would recommend and utilize again!

My dog and I stayed in our camper at this campground. It was a perfect location within walking distance of the Caverns venue. The power hook-up for the camper was great, and the bathrooms had clean, warm water for showers. Couldn't have asked for much more!

My dog and I had a perfect last second long weekend getaway. The property was easy to get to, close to so many awesome hiking trails, and was beautiful. The host, Robby, communicated well and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. He brought us enough firewood to last the entire trip and offered multiple options in case the weather got too cold while there. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler. Highly recommend anywhere on his property and will hopefully be back sooner than later!

This was my first ever Hipcamp experience so I don't really know how it compares. I'll say it was easy to find, a comfortable spot, and I met someone the day we left at their store and she was very friendly. They were very hands off and allowed us to just show up and go do our thing. As others have stated, you definitely notice the trains. Trains seem to be a love or hate sort of a thing. Very beautiful piece of land though and great facilities.

Off the beaten path and just a few miles from the state park. Open field area, we had our pick of any site with a fire ring. We enjoyed a fire each night and were present for the Beaver Moon. Outdoor shower with hot water was appreciated after we used up all our fresh water.

Overview
About
Hidden in the forests of northeastern Alabama, Russell Cave is a true wonder of archaeology. It served as a shelter for prehistoric people for more than 10,000 years. For a glimpse into the past, plan to spend a day—or even a weekend—at this 314-acre monument.
The cave's main entrance hosted humans from 10,000 B.C. to 1650 A.D. It still holds rich cultural significance to Native American peoples. If you're there in May, catch the annual Native American Festival. While the shelter is the main draw, Russell Cave itself is a whopping 7.5 miles long. But don't get your hopes up if you're into cave-exploring. Access is pretty restricted.
Hit up the museum in the visitor center. The center also is your starting point for guided tours to the cave's rock shelter. After your tour, enjoy a packed lunch in the picnic areas.
Ready to break in your hiking shoes? Start with the paved, less than a mile Nature Trail for a casual stroll. For a more robust hike, take the 1.2-mile Backcountry Trail. Keep an eye out for whitetail deer and purple coneflowers growing beneath Montague Mountain. The national monument also marks part of the North Alabama Birding Trail, hosting around 130 bird species.
There's no camping permitted in the park itself, but private campgrounds are located nearby. Thanks to Alabama's pleasant climate and mild winters, you can visit Russell Cave year-round. Each season brings something special to this prehistoric landmark.

Cave tour add on is a must if you go to any events in the caverns.
