9 Foot Yurt at Deer Run Flats

We loved staying on Robby’s land. He was friendly, and met us at the gate to give us some directions and details about the campsite. The campsite had 6 spots, and most of the were concentrated on one side of the field, so you may be close to others if you choose on of those. We had no one around us, and aside from the occasional train passing by, it was very peaceful. We had great views of the night sky and saw a few shooting stars while we were out. Plenty of space, good access to a bathroom. We had to walk out a bit to get some firewood, but that wasn’t a difficult endeavor. We all had a great time and would stay here in the future.

The yurt had a small blow up mattress, which was a plus because it wasn’t listed in the description (at least to my memory). The land was absolutely beautiful, and he took the time to make sure we got to our yurt safely. Made my friend and I feel incredibly safe as two young women traveling alone together. We would definitely stay here again.

The BEST Experience!

My dog and I had a perfect last second long weekend getaway. The property was easy to get to, close to so many awesome hiking trails, and was beautiful. The host, Robby, communicated well and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. He brought us enough firewood to last the entire trip and offered multiple options in case the weather got too cold while there. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler. Highly recommend anywhere on his property and will hopefully be back sooner than later!

Tent was all set with a queen sized airmatress and electricity for anything we needed. Wood pile with saw tight there. Clean. Nice. Great host. Right off the highway but secluded. Would stay there again.

Robby was extremely welcoming and helpful! Even lent us a space heater for the chilly night. It’s a beautiful property and a very easy drive into Chattanooga. Would definitely return!

I had a great experience staying on Robby's land. I arrived late so it was dark and he made the process of getting out to the area and set up super easy. It was just me and my dog and I felt very safe and taken care of the whole time. He drove out to where I was going to be and was flexible with where I was able to set up. The second night he brought me firewood. The set up of the whole property was really great. There's walking trails, he mentioned an alpaca farm not too far away, there's bathrooms and potable water in some areas. I found the yurts super cool and there's "floating beds" set up at some of the sites in the woods, as well as larger tents. I will definitely be back again with my friends!

I had another great day on Robby’s property! This time I stayed at the area called Whispering Pines. Very peaceful and quiet. Nice trails to walk and explore. I saw lots of wildlife. A red fox was just over the hill from me. I watched for about five minutes as he walked along this little ridge. Also saw a red tail hawk and an owl! This particular area has hammocks, but not the traditional hammocks that you would think of. It’s more of a strong elastic, stiff mesh…that is connected to three trees in a triangle configuration. They hold a lot of weight, and almost feel like trampoline, but are extremely comfortable! I sat out there for hours, either watching wildlife or just relaxing. His property is an amazing place to go to. Both he and his wife are extremely accommodating hosts, and I appreciate that so much! I am trying to sort out when my next trip there will be. One of the cool things about this trip was… there was rain forecast for the morning that I left, and it being my birthday, Robby was thoughtful enough to let me stay at one of the tents that he already has set up for guests in case they did not want to bring their own…at no additional charge! He said it was because it was my birthday and because, storms were forecast to come through that morning but…all I had to do is put my stuff in the car, and not worry about taking down a wet tent and wet gear and putting it away! Thank y’all so much for your hospitality and I will see y’all very very soon!

Yurts on Field's Edge

Robby was a great host. We got to camp privately with a great view. We saw a family of deer in the evening and our Cooper loves sniffing in hayfields! As an added bonus, Robby stopped by for a chat and shared with us so much local historical information. Knowing about the history made the stay that much more enjoyable.

More than a campground

This campground is special. Robby and Tina are such kind souls that made sure we had a comfortable stay. We had such great conversations with Robby, and he is an amazing story teller. Staying in the whispering pines was the best decision we could have made. First showing up to the campground, we thought it's not a typical location for our style of camping, but after a few nights we realized this is just what we needed. I felt a glow to my soul staying here. I would not pass up this place to choose your next campout, Robby and Tina will make sure you enjoy your stay.

My kiddo (12), and I had so much fun camping here! Robby was an amazing host! He provided air mattresses that he even inflated for us! The renet was in perfect condition, and very clean! It sits right on the edge of the woods, and we went to sleep listening to the frogs, and woke up to the sounds of the birds! The place is absolutely beautiful, and very well maintained! The view of the mountain is fantastic, but it wasn't quite as beautiful as the night sky full of stars! 💜

The property is well kept! The hosts EXTREMELY nice and super helpful! We stayed a full weekend for a competition event and they were so incredibly helpful and kind! Very knowledgeable about the area and even helped clean up more of the campsite! Definitely will be coming back if we ever pass through!!

Nice quiet spot outside the city!

Roby and Tina were great, very friendly and inviting. The campsite was nice, the views of the stars were great. Watching the sun rise over Lookout Mountain in the morning was perfect. Deer run sites are near the entrance road, but there wasn't much traffick. We rented kayaks at took them to the nature preserve and spent the day on the water, which was magical. Roby knows a lot about the areas history, which was very interesting.

I really enjoyed this hidden gem of a campground, me and my fiance stayed in the RV for our anniversary trip to Chattanooga, I had never booked anything off hip camp nefore so this was a first time experience and Ronny was very helpful in answering all questions I had and even helped when the breaker tripped at 11:30 at night. Very nice and quiet place that I will definitely return too and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to to stay in the Chattanooga area.

Very clean, well kept area. Even though we did not meet Robby, he and his wife were very responsive and accommodating. One of my friends accidentally messed up Robbys' air mattress (which they were very kind to provide) and even though they were frustrated, Robby graciously accepted my numerous apologies. I'd highly recommend staying here

This was a pretty area that had a lot of tents and was in a good location for local activities. As people who are used to camping with our own gear, it was nice to be minimalist and not have to set up a tent and mattress ourselves. We just had to bring the bedding and some lanterns. I would recommend bringing an extension cord with multiple outlets if you want to plug in or charge anything aside from the fan.

Great host, location and campground

Fantastic hosts that were friendly, helpful and have a great camping location halfway between Lookout Mountain and Cloudland Canyon. The RV was clean, in good working condition and with fantastic views of the mountains with Covenant College at the top. Lots of space to explore and they had Kayaks and bikes for use. Other campsites with tents set up and plenty of firewood. Looking forward to my next visit.

Big Oak Camp

We enjoyed our brief overnight here. We tried the tire swing and enjoyed relaxing around the fire pit watching the lightning bugs. Our hosts were very communicative and welcomed us on our arrival. The directions to the site were easy to understand. Tent was clean and set up! We shared our toilet/shower area with another family, and it was no problem - all went smoothly and there were no interruptions to our evening or morning. We walked along the path leading around the property. We were just traveling through, but we would recommend this site to others - there’s a lot to do in the area and this site is beautiful!
