Great Tent Camping Spot. Beautiful Piece of Land. Easy to find (in the day time) we had a late arrival whom we had to flag down with headlamps, LOL. Cell service will be spotty so be prepared. Definitely would like to go again in Spring/Summer

We paid for 2 nights and some firewood. The hosts didn’t leave us our firewood and it got down to nearly freezing that first night. I had tried calling and messaging them with no response. We left early the next morning. Even though we paid for two nights the owners refunded us $35 to compensate.

This is truly a gem on the James. Great location for our travel trailer and outstanding water access. Amber and Mikey are super responsive and easy to work with. We had a great time and hope to return soon

Lovely riverside campsite

This is a fantastic spot! Really a treat to be right on the river. Very nice in the fall, but I can’t wait to come back in summertime to take advantage of dipping in the James. Appreciated the furniture, hammock, fire pit, and port-o-potty.

Just got back from an amazing camping weekend getaway located on the riverfront of the James. The site was breathtaking, clear grassy spot for tents, Nice huge firepit with table and chairs already on site with a spectacular view of the river. Hosts Amber and Mikey were very responsive and we will be booking again in the future.

This location is exquisite. Very private, river is absolutely gorgeous, sunset was picturesque, tons of flat grass, furniture provided was adequate. Fell asleep to a chorus of rushing water and a thousand crickets. Perfect camping experience for me and my two boys.

Beautiful spot, easy river access at campsite. Quiet and secluded. Wildlife, fishing, swimming, tubing, kayaking and easy shallow spots to just sit and let the water breeze by. Soft grass for tents, volleyball net and space to play and roam. Easy access

Amber and Mikey were super responsive and accommodating! We loved the site and its access to the James river! It isn’t as secluded as we thought it would be but never felt like we were next to neighbors. We would love to come back!

Amazing hip camp. Would recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a river front stay. The view and river were perfect. We were in a 39 foot travel trailer and the entrance was tight but we made it with out any problems. ATT has no service in the area. Thank you for hosting and allowing access to such a beautiful property.

We had the worst experience ever. The cabin was in terrible condition, with spider webs, mosquitoes, and bugs everywhere. The appliances and kitchen items were old and dirty. We couldn’t sleep at night due to the bugs and mosquitoes constantly bothering us, and the kids were scared. The description of the cabin on the website does not match reality. We do not recommend staying here until they improve the cleanliness.

Always a great spot to hang out by and in the water! Went with family and friends for our kid's birthday and everyone had a nice relaxing and fun filled time! We live in Richmond, so I think we've been there both times when the James River gauge in Richmond (Westham gauge) is a little over 4ft. This makes for real shallow water just off shore at this campsite which is great for kids. Also plenty of channels to explore between the rocks and deeper pools. Really a jem of a spot!

Great site - directions from Amber and Mikey were very clear. Even though it rained in the afternoon - the grounds didn’t get too soggy as there was plenty of sunshine after. Our kids loved being in the river - easy to get down there with the steps. Always love the sound of the river when sleeping. Great spot and we would visit again.

Great communication from Amber & Mikey regarding directions and local things to do. The kitchen has everything you need to be comfortable from a coffee maker to pots and even a stand up wine opener. Comfortable beds with nice comforters. The place kept us dry and cozy during a severe thunderstorm.

Overall we had a fun time. The view of the river was absolutely beautiful, probably my favorite part. The bugs were pretty bad. There were hornets, ticks, flies, you name it, and we had every bug repellant you can think of. After a while we just sort of adapted to it: I suppose that comes with the river camping territory in late May. The river front, while beautiful, is a very strong current so you can’t really do anything in it except stand close to the shore. I recommend staying here if you have kayaks or boats you plan to use. We happened to have floating tubes that we tied up to a tree and could float on right on the river bank. That was nice. We brought our dog but local boating companies don’t allow dogs so we couldn’t rent a boat. The fire pit was nice and big. I think it’s a little overpriced for what it is, but I think the bugs really are what dampened the experience for me.

This was a GREAT camp, best place I've stayed at yet. This location is perfect and serene, the river is astounding and a great place to swim. Out of all the camps I've stayed at - this is the best by far.

We really enjoyed our stay at Turkey Roost! The cabin is near a few neighboring ones, but is surrounded by enough trees to have a good amount of privacy. Amber and Mikey were kind enough to let us use the riverfront property, since there weren't any campers at the time, but I'd definitely recommend booking that too! The river was beautiful, and we were able to take advantage of the firepit, as well. The cabin is in great shape with all basic modern amenities you might need. It was fun to wake up to the turkey gobbling and the neighbor's rooster in the morning!

Great camping spots, came with with my buddies for spring break. Would definitely recommend this place for a warmer time of the year it was a little chilly in March from the river breeze. Beautiful backdrop, very nice host, great area, everyone in the area was very kind. Scottsville was about 25 minutes away and was a great time. Only downside was bringing our own water, but with a backpacking pump filter, the river water was just fine, crystal clear. 9/10 would recommend for a summer trip

Perfection
Let me begin by saying that the hosts, Amber and Mikey, were absolutely amazing. Everything was perfect. I am a rock climber and my wife and I are both mountaineers and alpinist. Taking a break from the hills and relaxing in serenity is what we found in their Turkey Roost Cabin. The view was spectacular. The cabin was clean and provided everything you could possibly need. The resident turkey was icing on the cake. We will be returning. The combination of our perfect hosts and a perfect oasis in the woods created a beautiful memory for us. FIVE STARS - The Snider’s

Great view, especially in winter with no foliage. Current was pretty intense right there for any wishing to get in the river at sunnier times. Good view with nice fire pit and feeling of privacy all around. Slightly muddy entrance way but not insurmountable.
