River Front Get Away! A hidden gem

This is one of the most gorgeous spots we have ever parked our van at (and we have parked all up-and-down the East Coast in some really phenomenal spots.)
Mikey was extremely sweet and helpful.
We had a wonderful 2 hour float in the tubes down the James River to Howardsville where we had left a truck to haul the tubes and us back to the camp spot. It’s really perfect!
The fire pit is huge the seating is perfect there’s even a bar set up and a hammock.
And he has a potty there now!
Definitely coming back many more times!

wowee. great views for sure, and lots of rocks and little islands to explore. rough waters in some areas but that’s the fun part! lots of furniture to use, and a decent sized fire pit. we decided to opt out of our fire wood cuz of rain tho. a mighty storm came and spiced things up.
definitely download some podcasts. you’re completely unplugged.

Beautiful secluded area to camp. Mikey was a very gracious and helpful post. We look forward to going next year

We spent two nights at this site. There is plenty of space to spread out. Lots of shade. We kayaked and tubed on the river and it was great. Easy to put in at the camp site, but you may want two cars so you can easily drive back from the public boat ramp down river. Amber and Mikey were great hosts - the firewood they provided was dry and burned well (even right after a heavy rain) and the tubes worked well. I expect that we'll be back!

Great little spot by the river! It has a large and shady grassy area for all your stuff. The water was a bit swift when we were there but on our next visit we hope to wade out and explore all the big rocks right out in front.

The spot is absolutely gorgeous! My girlfriend, her son, and I had soooo much fun! The campsite had a fire pit, plenty of chairs and tables to eat off of, a trash can on site, grills. You name it! The river was high when we arrived so we had to wait a day before hopping in for our kayaking down the river but it was worth the wait! Highly recommended!

Mickey was very helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The camp was well maintained and the volleyball court was a huge plus. Although it rained the night we stayed and couldn’t use the fire pit, it was a great feature. 10/10 recommend for a couple or a large group.

This is a beautiful spot and we really felt like we got away from it all. There are houses nearby, but it still definitely feels private. We had a camp toilet with it's own privacy tent--can't imagine camping here without it. We look forward to returning in the warmer weather and hope to get into the river.

Mike and Ambers property is beautiful and well maintained. The hosts we friendly and helpful but also respected our privacy and allowed us to enjoy our time there uninterrupted. I would highly recommend!
