Nick B.has mixed feelings towards this listing.

I'll start by saying I did book my listing day of, so notice was a bit short. The site is pretty remote and the drive in had some of the most beautiful views I saw on my entire trip. When I arrived in the property there appeared to be another site near the house, tent was turned over and nobody in sight. I pulled up to the house as the listing said meet and greet with host on arrival. No people at the house either, but there was a dog that didn't seem too keen on us being there. I had sent the host a message about our expected arrival time but never heard back. We waited about 40 minutes while we prepared our equipment while the dog barked at us from a distance. Ended up leaving site as it was getting late to see if we could find an area in the neighboring BLM land as a back up plan. Returned to the property about an hour later after seeing a vehicle drive that direction, but still nobody but a barking dog. So we headed back to public land as a storm was approaching. We did end up finding a beautiful spot a couple miles away.

Very cool spot a short walk away from Lake Cisco. Decent hiking, nothing too challenging. Be wary of brush and cacti though. The old zoo offers some unique scenery, sadly covered in graffiti and broken bottles, still pretty cool to imagine what it would have been in the past. Cisco/Red Gap has some pretty interesting history. The stars at night were incredible. Very quiet at night once the sounds of boats die out. Pretty accessible to the town, grocery store, ice hut etc.

Site 2 - The Sticks - Camping on the River
in The Sticks, TexasGreat sites close to austin
We stayed at campsite #2 and it offered some absolutely beautiful views of the river and surrounding area. Hosts were super friendly and accommodating. There is a short walk down stairs followed by a narrow river crossing. The bridge was out, so it did require wading across. Host was very up front with this and even offered to help with a site at a neighboring property, it was a non-issue for us. I recommend watching their video and packing accordingly. Very little shade at the campsites, so again plan and pack accordingly. Despite being near water we weren't bothered by mosquitos. Sites are fairly close together, so if you require peace and quiet it will be somewhat dependent on your camp mates. Fortunately our neighbors were super friendly and respectful. Overall we had a great stay, dogs had a great time, and we will likely be back (albeit when its a bit cooler)
