The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. The camp lies inside of Tiadaghton State Forest on the west side of Pine Creek in the Pennsylvania Wilds. The property is 5 acres, embedded deep in public land. On the property there is a cabin and one very large campsite (not currently in use). The area is beautiful for paddling, floating, fishing, hiking, biking, rock skipping, dipping your toes, swimming hole gems, searching for waterfalls, writing retreats. There are hundreds of miles of hiking, mountain bike and ATV trails, and some of the best fishing and stargazing on the East Coast. There is a 62 mile -rails-to-trails that runs along the other side of Pine Creek from Wellsboro to Jersey Shore, PA. Our camp is located on a secluded hill - a relaxing oasis removed from the rest of the world - read a book in a hammock, build campfires, grill yummy food, let the kids run around like crazy, play a lot of cards. It a 2 minute walk from the property to public access to Pine Creek. It is a 45 minute drive to paddle the Western Branch of the Susquehanna near Lock Haven, PA. Note: Cabin is currently available. Campsite is not at this time.

The fire pit was large and comfortable, the grill outdoors covered most of our cooking needs, and we found that there was plenty of seating, indoor or outdoor, to accommodate small to large groups. Encounters with wildlife or priceless, we definitely had a fantastic trip!

Late to reviewing but this is my most favorite place! We left some mugs for all to enjoy with our favorite memories and our most precious, Frank. Ordered them specifically to leave at the cabin. I look forward to spending time here every year as it’s a little spot of heaven. The lake is perfect even in temperature. The cabin has everything you could need. The spot is incredible. Don’t pass this place up on small “imperfections” you will never find a better spot than here. Tucked away in northern PA.

Sunset Shore Cabin had everything we needed for a great weekend trip. Everything was neat and clean. There were multiple towels and washcloths for use to use, and all the silverware/pots/utensils and supplies we would ever need. The lake is peaceful and quiet, and the inflatable boats and dock are in great shape. We even lit the tiki torches going down the path at night. We purchased wifi as well and it worked great, I would certainly love to stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Cabin Getaway

Andreas land is so peaceful. We brought our reactive dog and she loved being off leash. The state park is about 15 min away and had great trails. On the property and nearby there is absolutely no service. There is wifi at the state park but we had no service at the campsite and none until we got the park so download any GPS maps. The actual cabin is nice and has two small cots (a bit hard for my liking so bring an air mattress or mattress pad). They had a great grill, picnic tables and a nice outdoor shower. The shower and porta potties were super clean. Thanks again for the stay!

Our stay at Andrea’s cabin was PERFECTION. The whole site is so thoughtfully laid out and has everything you need to have a comfortable and peaceful time. The portapotty was very clean, and the outdoor shower and sink was such a nice touch that made our stay even better. Nothing but great things to say, I can’t wait to come back. The cabin was stocked with wood available for purchase, a lantern, battery charger, fan, and solar lights which were perfect for at night! The site was incredibly private but close enough to houses and towns that it was comforting. There is no service in the area of the cabin (which I think is perfect for camping) so be aware of that for when you need directions when heading out 🤣 Also being able to walk around the property was awesome! 10000/10 will recommend and will be back.

Weekend Trip to Secluded BLT Cabin

BLT cabin is a great getaway! My daughter and I were able to get away and enjoyed the seclusion with our dog. Even though it rained most of the day Saturday, Stephanie had plenty of dry firewood that we could still cook and have a fire between storms. My daughter is young and weirded out by outhouses, but even she said Stephanie's was very clean and didn't feel like an outhouse at all! The cabin was very well stocked (we packed well anyway), but very impressive how well Stephanie makes sure guests have everything they may need. I highly recommend for families looking to get away. Plenty of seating, tables, beds. Very comfortable!

Weekend Trip to Elk Creek Escape/Sawmill Woodzie

It's about a 4ish minute drive up from the main campground. The sufficient remoteness of it... In the woods, even the no running water, this no power... It was perfect for an unplugging, quiet and calm get away!! Even any traffic (which was not much at all) we were barely able to hear. Staff (Russ) was incredibly kind, accepting and welcoming. He made sure to be available to me and fiance whenever we needed, and just made our stay feel nice. Due to the nature of the cabin (aka remote) he also didn't really come up to check on us which actually felt really nice. There's two solar lights inside that you can switch on and off, with the rest of the cabin pretty much being lit by candlelight. It created an incredible ambience. Wonderful! We'll definitely be back!! <3 ------- Only complaints: - Cookingware/Silverware did not seem quite usable - the outhouse was just... a little too gross (for us). But even with those, we adjusted and we'll be back. We *really* enjoyed our stay. Thank you!!

This little getaway was a gem. Perfect. Secluded and cozy. I got a little turned around enroute but Andrea responded very quickly and got me back on track. My little Honda Fit reached it without any trouble. I greatly appreciated the battery powered fan and the charger. A welcome surprise. I highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Secluded BLT Cabin

Stephanie was nice & responsive. Self check-in instructions provided ease of access. The cabin offers a totally secluded & private paradise for nothing but nature. The cabin was well stocked with essentials like dish & hand soap, basic kitchenware, sheets/extra blankets, water, TP, towels, linens, and a fan. Additionally, fishing rods, a small flashlight, and firewood were provided. I brought too much stuff lol. Nice perks were the steps to the outhouse were well lit. A sizable can of gas was provided for the generator when needed. I enjoyed the fire pit, hiking trails, pond fishing. Another thing is the outdoor shower aside from the outhouse. The listing mentioned not having a shower but this was a great surprise for me. Likely during the warmer months. A tip for future guests: The drive from the main road is long, muddy (after some rain), and can be questionable for some sedans. There are multiple dips, ruts, and hills that require off-road experience, so take it slow, or better yet, bring a high-clearance or 4WD vehicle. Also, there is no AC and the cabin holds heat well, Summer might be too hot for some; however, the windows can be opened and the host provides a collapsible screen for bug-free airflow, which helped. I would like to try the cabin out during Fall or early Winter. I was surprised to get cell service here and there, but don't count on it. Overall, I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for true solitude in nature.

This is my second time staying at this cabin. It is so peaceful and relaxing. You're set out in the middle of the woods. There's solar hot water heater (which can get very hot fast) for an open top outdoor shower (very invigorating) and sink for washing dishes etc. Beyond clean and smelling fresh Porta John! They have a nice stack of wood at the cabin to purchase for your bonfire and a woodstove inside the cabin for cooler days/nights. Solar lights outdoor automatic lights and indoor lights along with a battery pack if you need to plug anything in or to charge something.. Just a beautiful, peaceful place to enjoy the outdoors. Will definitely go back!

Another awesome 4th of July weekend at BLT cabin! Definitely enjoyed the peace and quiet and relaxing on the spacious porch while our dogs played in and around the pond. The morning hikes also helped the relaxation. If you want to get away and relax to the nature sounds, BLT cabin has got you covered!! Don't forget your s'more supplies 😄

This is by far my favorite state park in PA. The Loyalsock Creek is beautiful and there are many swimming holes to visit. It is so peaceful to fall asleep to the sound of the creek at night. Hiking trails are excellent. Don't miss the hike up to Canyon Vista, which offers amazing views of the Endless Mountains. There are 2 camping loops, 1 with and 1 without electric hookups. Modern bathroom facilities are well maintained. Rustic cabins are available year round and are super cozy in the winter. Check out Forksville General Store and Restaurant, 5 minutes from the park in Forksville and say hi to Big Mike, a South Philadelphia transplant. The food there is great and there is a live dinner show some nights.
