River's Edge is a four season adventure company in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, outfitting adventurers with equipment and guidance. The property is located on the Manitowish River, Heart of Vilas County bike trail, and Iron County snowmobile trails. By car we're about eight minutes from WinMan Trails, ten minutes from MECCA Trails and Mercer, three minutes from Manitowish Waters. As we're right on the bike path, riding to lunch or dinner is easy, with lots of yummy options close by.
We have two campsites on our property, primarily for adventurers looking for a central basecamp location from which to go do all the fun things we have available in the Northwoods. Campsites are located on the west end of the property, in proximity to all the activities, and include full hookups, a picnic table and fire ring.
Site One is closest to the river and bike path. It's more secluded and separate from the main lodge area. Of the two sites, this is the best if you plan to hang around camp and chill. It does have trees lining the parking space, so if you have a trailer above 11'-13' be careful backing in.
Site Two is right off of the main parking area next to the lodge building. While we're working on natural barrier growth, it is kind of in the middle of activity during our busy seasons. It is, however, the easiest to back into with a large trailer. If you're looking for a convenient place to bring your RV or trailer and don't mind being less secluded, this is for you. If you're looking for a national forest experience, this is not for you.
The main lodge is open for use until 10pm-ish. There are couches, tables and board games available for guests. A bathroom is available for campers in the lodge, however there is no shower. We highly recommend The Manitowish Waters Athletic Club for shower facilities, hot tub, and pool. Day passes are reasonably priced and the facility is extremely well appointed. It's about three minutes by car or ten by bike.
Campers get a discount on rental equipment. Wifi is available in the lodge.
Our sites are open year-round, although water service will be turned off when temps are below freezing.

One of two private boondocking RV/camp sites available right across the street from the public Lake Superior Beach.
Maple Site sits on the corner of Maple Street and Lakeshore Drive only 100’ away from the beach path which has ADA compliant metals mats and a picnic table. You can hear the waves and watch the sunset over the dune on this site surrounded by woods and prairie grass. A mowed walking path also goes from the site to Lakeshore Drive.
Poplar Site sits on the corner of Poplar Street and Maple Street. This site is nestled between the prairie grass and woods and is a short walk either around the corner via road or through the path to the beach which is in sight only a 2 minute walk from your parking spot.
Enjoy a picnic table lunch or dinner on the path that overlooks the harbor break wall and Porcupine Mountains in one direction, and 14 Mile Point to the other. Sites are an 8 block walk or half mile drive to downtown Ontonagon. If water fill, showers, or dump site are needed, Ontonagon Township Campground is less than a mile down the road. Sites are mowed grass fields on solid ground. No fire pits in the campsite but fires are allowed on the beach, just please be respectful and tend to it and extinguish it once you are finished.

Great site with access to the lake, waterfalls, and other local resources. The site was easy to access, utilities were easy to hook up and worked well. The local town had all we needed for restocking on our trip. (Shout out to the Golden Dragon in Ironwood for some of the best Chinese food we have had!!)

If you are looking for a campground that is private wilderness on a lake but full amenities, this is the place to go! Lots of all sizes, full hook ups, shower on site, clean, right on the lake, some sites with your own dock, quiet, family friendly, most of the site are level, and it’s a gated access!
I had site 23 which was not level, but very large with a clear view of the lake. For two woman and 2 dogs, this place was safe and friendly. Don’t forget your bug spray!

Definitely buggy this time of year but if you can snag a spot right next to the lake shore it helps blow some of them away! The water fill ups and showers were a major boon and we loved our stay. It’s a popular site with lots of campers but everyone was super polite and kind. We’ll be back!

Excellent hiking trails, location and just a beautiful park. Five different campgrounds from which to choose, along with backcountry sites and cabins. Right on the shore of Lake Superior, this park is an absolute gem and a wonderful place to visit. Waterfalls galore, interpretive trails, excellent visitor center and great facilities. Union Bay Campground has amenities and electric, Presque Isle (My Fave if not backpacking) is rustic as well as the three outposts.
Something for everyone here. GO!

Presque Isle is an excellent campground, and by far superior to Union Bay if you're also considering that one. The facilities are clean, the hike-in spots are somewhat secluded, and the grounds manager was incredibly helpful for providing recommendations. The campground is in a great location, just a short hike from the Presque Isle river which is full of awesome waterfalls. I would definitely recommend this site.

Nice camp on the shore of Lake Superior and the entry to the Porkies. Electric hookups.

I've camped here twice and can not tell you how much I love it. Plenty of campsites and as private as you want to be. Loved watching the stars at night and hear the waves of Lake Superior. Wonderful place to visit.

One of the most amazing state parks I have ever been to!
Lots of RV's and the sites really close together, however you can see the lake. I would suggest getting one of the rustic sites or cabins. Be sure to skip the Visitors Center and head right to the Park Headquarters to make reservations. Bring all the DEET.
