You can also opt to catch a movie at the local theater or take a tour of the Florida's Natural orange juice factory. If you're up for a 45-60 min drive you can also visit several of the attractions often featured in "weird Florida" guides including Solomon's Castle, Gatorland, and Monument of the States. And let's not forget, the more well-known attractions, Disney World and Universal Studios are also conveniently located about 45-60 minutes away. When you're ready to stock up on supplies, we're near gas stations and grocery stores (don't leave without trying the famous Publix subs). There are also coin operated laundry options near by. If you need it, there is a reputable RV tire and service company about 10 minutes away. Join us for a night, a few days, or even a week. Our space is totally private, fenced in, and features a clean swimming hole with a beach!  About the property Our property is near Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park and Lake Okeechobee.  If you’re looking for places to visit for the day or services nearby, you can head to Okeechobee, which is only 20 min away. Lake Placid is only 40 min, Vero Beach is only 1 hr, and Melbourne is 1 hr 30 min.  All of the listed locations offer great opportunities for fishing, hunting, swimming, and beach hangouts. Each of the sites allows for watching the livestock, hanging out at the watering hole, and sitting around the communal campfire. Our favorite things about our property are privacy, amenities, and all of the roaming mini livestock throughout the property! Your hosts do not live onsite however, will be available to you during your visit. We are friendly and as non-invasive as we can be. We do love meeting our guests and are available for any questions that come up. Our primary purpose when developing this property was to create a safe space for children with special needs and their families. We are a no judgment zone and adhere to Hipcamp's inclusion policy. About the listing: This listing is for a day trip, or a back-to-your-roots, overnight tent camping trip. Guests will choose their dry-camping location after a tour of the property. About a mile to the Indian River, about five miles to the Banana River (and Kelly Park for windsurfing or launching boats) about 12 miles to Port Canaveral and the beach at Jetty Park or better yet (my fav) Cherie Down Park. CDP is great for surfing, beach fishing, viewing rocket launches or just beach walking. While there please visit Port Canaveral's host of bars and restaurants. Otter Cove is a great place for a weekend get away. Easy to find and fairly secluded. Short dirt road leading in. The spot is on the back end of a large clearing with big oaks surounding and drop off on two sides. The site has a good mix of shade and sun. We were the only ones their and had complete privacy. You can hear some traffic, but its pretty far off. We would stay here again.

JB Resort is 5 star and two 👍👍. Jamie and Bolton are wonderful hosts with an amazing property they are willing to share. This is a garden retreat with amenities galore including: pool, lily ponds, fire pit, billiards, indoor lounge with comfortable restroom facilities and hot water, private camping sites with electric and water, gated property is impeccably clean,, quiet, convenient, and restful. Best Hipcamp by far we have stay in over the past year. Nancy and I will definitely come back when in the Sebring area. The campsites however primitive has some real nice extras, like cafe lights in the trees, near by bath house. A huge plus was bringing an extension cord to access electricity at a nearby cabin outlet. Also a great variety of livestock to watch for entertainment.

This place is absolutely fantastic. The campsites are so well maintained, the scenery is incredible & Paul is the best (make sure you get to hear one of his jokes after you check in). There are beautiful longhorns roaming around the campsites and goats in a pen you can go feed. Oh and the bathrooms? Impeccable. So clean and very nice. Truly cannot recommend this place enough. We will be back!!!

Martin's place was great, I really enjoyed the outdoor shower and the pool! The fire pit was perfect, Martin and I had some nice chats by the fire every night! The area was very quiet and peaceful, and Martin was a perfect host, very friendly and welcoming. Nice shady spot for my van. And, his dog, Lady, was very friendly, and she is very opinionated on the local squirrel population! Overall, I highly recommend Martin's place, it was a very pleasant and relaxing stay, and I will definitely stay here again!

This was a paradise for my dog! It was the best vacation he ever had! Fenced in yard with a doggie pool and a play mate, Lady, the hosts dog. The accommodations were great the pool was a huge comfort during the hot weather and although I’m not a clothing optional participant I was not uncomfortable and it was all very respectful and I was not self conscious, the location is beautiful. The flowers and yard are perfect. I’ll be back!

It was an absolutely amazing experience. We woke up one morning with Texas longhorns and calfs eating grass right outside our tent. The next morning is was horses and a donkey. Not behind a fence or where you had to walk to see them. Roaming right around your camping site. Our board game was interrupted when a group of goats came and joined us at the table and wanted to see what we were doing. The atmosphere was amazing, staff friendly and helpful. Memories unforgettable. We will be back and already have friends asking us where we were at. Just bring extra shoes, cow patties are part of the experience.

You don’t have to go out west to get the dude ranch experience—at Lake Kissimmee State Park, the Cow Camp is a reproduction of a late 1800s outpost of Florida’s cow hunters complete with live reenactors and resident cows. Aside from this highlight, Lake Kissimmee State Park also features 13 miles of trails that wind around freshwater marshes and through forests of pine and oak, including some trails with equestrian access. You can paddle, boat, and fish on the park’s three lakes, and at night, the big open sky of Florida’s cow country makes for some amazing stargazing at the primary Lake Kissimmee Campground.

When to go

Autumn, winter, and spring are all great times of year for Lake Kissimmee camping with mild weather. Although the park’s Central Florida location isn’t quite as hot and humid as Southern Florida, summers can still be sweltering. Summertime campers may be most comfortable in a setup with a fan or air conditioning.

Know before you go

  • The camp store is open from November to April. In addition to selling firewood, snacks, and camping supplies, kayak and canoe rentals are available for exploring the lakes or trying out the 10-mile Buster Island Paddling Trail.
  • Lake Kissimmee State Park is renowned for its clear skies, but the nearby Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park is a designated International Dark Sky Park, with some of the best stargazing conditions in the country.
