The best camping in Lake Perris State Recreation Area, CA

Situated between Los Angeles and the Mojave Desert, Lake Perris is a great place to cool off, with a massive reservoir that's ideal for fishing, boating, swimming, and even scuba diving. The lands surrounding the park are also great for rock climbing, hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking, with nine miles of multi-use trails encircling the lake. There's also a museum that focuses on the history and cultural traditions of local indigenous groups. While the park gets plenty of day visitors, those who want to spend the night can book a site at the campground, which has over 400 sites spread across five loops.

The off-season is also great for anglers, and the lake is stocked with fish from fall until spring.
