Ettawa Springs Resort dates back to the 1920s and 30s like the fashionable resorts in the Cobb area where the rich and famous came to play. But Ettawa was oriented towards families and a more relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We are working hard to restore her to her former glory. We are excited to announce that we have a few campsites ready for use and will be adding more as we go. We offer hot showers and flush toilets, two sites in the Glade have running water. You can hike through our property to the Cobb Mountain Demonstration Forest or just enjoy the clean air and listen to the wind and the birds. On clear nights the stars put on an amazing show. Clear Lake is about 45 minutes away with all the fishing and water sports you could ask for. Harbin Hot Springs are 15 minutes away and they offer day passes for reasonable rates. We are located about 20 minutes outside of Middletown. Be aware that half of the road is dirt (and that's better than the asphalt half) all of it is fine for small cars, just take your time. The last 1/2 mile or so is a one lane road, so please be careful of opposing traffic and uneven surfaces. We cannot accommodate vehicles longer than 28’ on these roads. Please do not take County Road 110 from Boggs/Cobb - it is not maintained at all. We offer California camping at its finest. Fresh air, whispering trees, amazing star fields . . . this can mean the less attractive side of nature as well. We have ticks, rattlesnakes, stinging things, poison oak, uneven trails and surfaces, and a bear on one ridge with mountain cats on the other (no sign of either in the campground). We keep the restroom stocked with tick spray and Tecnu for the poison oak, but please watch yourselves and especially children. Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on lead for their own protection and the comfort of others. We are fairly hands off in our hosting approach. Unless there's a question or problem, you likely won't see us. But we have people close by and are only a message away.

We are about 7 minutes South of Middletown proper. We do have neighbors so noise is acceptable until 9pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends. We provide compost, recycling, and trash options, and it's ESSENTIAL to use the correct receptacle. Camping at The Ranch was a great experience! The area is surrounded by several wineries, and there’s a nice 40-minute hiking loop if you want to get out and explore. You can also go horseback riding or head down to the marina for more outdoor fun. We stayed at Campsite 9, which had a beautiful view of the lake and plenty of space — enough to comfortably fit two cars, 3-4 smaller tents. There’s no potable water on-site, so be sure to bring your own. The portable restrooms were impressively clean, and the host was incredibly kind and welcoming. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and I’m looking forward to coming back with my family next year!

This is an incredibly special place. The land itself is spectacular, with some of the most stunning views I’ve seen. Campsites are spread out and each very sweet. We bought out the whole place for a big group of families. Kids ranging from 2-10, and they couldn’t have been happier. And the amenities are the best! Chris has done such a nice job with the sauna house and outdoor shower and kitchen. Perfect gathering places. The coyotes, birds, and wild horses were wildlife highlights for us all. Stargazing is awesome as it’s far from most light pollution. Note that the road is rough and took us 35 mins in a truck, but our two kids who get carsick a lot were fine with a little Dramamine.

I enjoyed myself camping at site 20! It was my first solo trip and everything went incredibly smoothly. The portopotties were exceptionally clean! Almost as if they had never been used (a very rare site in most places lol). There were a couple trails nearby to hike and seeing the horses giving ride tours was a real treat. Belated review, but this place is such a find. I needed a spot not too far from San Francisco along my drive from LA to Seattle, and most campgrounds were already booked. I snagged a site here, and I'm so glad I did. The campground is small and privately owned, and each site was spacious. Check the map to see the ones with the best views. The port-a-potties are pretty generously dispersed, so you don't have a long trek to a bathroom in the dark. The views are the best part. If you're going for that classic camping feel, like those scenes from old family movie nights, this is it. Quiet, no crowds, and plenty of nature. Bugs are often a part of the camping deal, but I didn't notice any when I visited mid-October. The hosts are, arguably, just as lovely as the views. They've clearly put their heart and soul into this place. They offer trail rides which are well worth the cost, and the horses are all very well cared for. 10/10, will definitely go back again.

Ettawa Springs Resort dates back to the 1920s and 30s like the fashionable resorts in the Cobb area where the rich and famous came to play. But Ettawa was oriented towards families and a more relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We are working hard to restore her to her former glory. We are excited to announce that we have a few campsites ready for use and will be adding more as we go. We offer hot showers and flush toilets, two sites in the Glade have running water. You can hike through our property to the Cobb Mountain Demonstration Forest or just enjoy the clean air and listen to the wind and the birds. On clear nights the stars put on an amazing show. Clear Lake is about 45 minutes away with all the fishing and water sports you could ask for. Harbin Hot Springs are 15 minutes away and they offer day passes for reasonable rates. We are located about 20 minutes outside of Middletown. Be aware that half of the road is dirt (and that's better than the asphalt half) all of it is fine for small cars, just take your time. The last 1/2 mile or so is a one lane road, so please be careful of opposing traffic and uneven surfaces. We cannot accommodate vehicles longer than 28’ on these roads. Please do not take County Road 110 from Boggs/Cobb - it is not maintained at all. We offer California camping at its finest. Fresh air, whispering trees, amazing star fields . . . this can mean the less attractive side of nature as well. We have ticks, rattlesnakes, stinging things, poison oak, uneven trails and surfaces, and a bear on one ridge with mountain cats on the other (no sign of either in the campground). We keep the restroom stocked with tick spray and Tecnu for the poison oak, but please watch yourselves and especially children. Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on lead for their own protection and the comfort of others. We are fairly hands off in our hosting approach. Unless there's a question or problem, you likely won't see us. But we have people close by and are only a message away.

It’s a very sunny property so please bring a canopy for shade if you want it over your campsite, remember to bring stakes, it can be windy here. *Water is gold here so make every drop count, arrive with water conservation in mind. And please bring your own drinking water=) *We are off-grid with no amenities from the city so please be mindful of how much trash you’ll leave behind. If drinking alcoholic beverages we ask that campers take their empties. Ask for a bag if you need it. *We ask campers to arrive between 1pm at 9pm. If possible a general ETA helps as well. *Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Our animals roam freely. * It’s always a journey finding magical places so just a sweet heads up, our mountain dirt road is a bit bumpy. About

North of Napa Valley, Clear Lake State Park sits on the southwestern shores of California’s largest natural lake. The lake is ideal for swimming, boating, paddling, water sports, and fishing, and is considered by many to be the top bass fishing lake in the country. Land based activities include hiking and biking through the surrounding oak woodland, exploring native history and picnicking. Birdwatching is also popular at this Audubon Important Bird Area along the Pacific Flyway. Four developed and two group campgrounds offer overnight options spanning tent sites, no-hookup RV sites, hike and bike sites, and lakeside cabins. 

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for anglers and lake access: Kelsey Creek Campground offers lakeside sites and easy access to fishing.
  • Best for lake views and swimmers: Near the swim beach, Lower Bayview Campground offers fantastic views of Clear Lake and Soda Bay.
  • Best for hikers: Upper Bayview Campground offers easy access to several trails, including the Dorn Nature Trail and Indian Nature Trail.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Reservations can be made from two days and up to six months in advance. During peak season, plan to reserve a campsite as soon as you know your dates. 
  2. If you don’t have a reservation, arrive first thing in the morning to grab any available sites. From October to March, Kelsey Creek Campground is first-come, first-served only.
  3. Be sure to check seasonal opening and closing dates—only the Kelsey Creek Campground is open year-round.

When to go

The park is busiest in summer, particularly when temperatures soar. Summer visitors can take advantage of numerous programs, including nature walks, campfire programs, and junior ranger programs. Visit in early spring to see vibrant wildflowers, especially the western redbud. Spring and summer are great times to spot native birds, while fall brings migratory birds. 

Know before you go

  • Accessible facilities include several campsites and cabins, restrooms, showers, the swim beach, the Kelsey Creek Trail, and portions of the Dorn Nature Trail.
  • Low water levels can cause the boat ramp to close. Use caution when swimming, as no lifeguards are on duty.
  • Bring insect repellent; mosquitoes can be an issue.
  • Stay on trails and designated areas, as poison oak can be found all over the park.
  • Dogs are allowed in campgrounds, parking lots, and paved roadways, but not on trails, day-use areas, or the swim area.

Such a beautiful camp with amazing views! The bathrooms available were super clean! The people who owned the camp came around to pick up the trash bins at the site and were very lovely and kind! We had a very nice conversation with them about the camp. The river access was definitely the best part especially for the hot summer days! We will definitely be back next summer!

Upper Bayview Campground
We enjoyed our stay on lot 121. Enjoying having a spot on the outskirts of the campgrounds. The location was very private in mid May with only a few other campers around. Enjoyed multiple deer sightings but be ready for evening with plenty of bug spray. Firepits height hindered our ability to enjoy sitting around a campfire. Central bathroom had a lot of bugs. Bathroom with shower was Much nicer. Local trails were easy and enjoyable.

Upper Bayview Campground
Upper Bayview is quite an uphill hike from the day use/beach area of the Park; if that's where you are going to want to be, consider a site farther down the hill. On the other hand, if you want a bit more privacy and quiet, sites 119 through 127 on the outside of the loop are all fantastic. They're also a bit of a walk to the restroom, which is not quite as central as the campground makes it appear (in reality, it's closer to where site #113 is shown on the map.) We had a beautiful view of Mt Konocti from site #125.

Lower Bayview Campground
Clear Lake is a scary place these days... If you like to hike or nice views this isn’t the place for you. The State Park was beautiful but mostly closed. The bathrooms were nice and well lit (there were Black Widows in the bathrooms and the showers are $.25 each minute). We brought a bee trap and there were some bugs but nothing unmanageable.

Report from your Shirtless Host on Clear Lake S.P. at Kelsey Creek Camp grounds! I just spent 10 days in both camp sites 71 and 53 !! 71 and 70 have shade all day long and you can see the lake! Site 53 has shade all afternoon and you can see the lake alittle! Clear lake S.P. has alot of plus and very few bad things any one can say about it ! This is a great park swimming, wild life all over the place fishing , hiking, bike rideing. Boating has a boat ramp. The swimming area is rope off and great for the kids l had a great time at the park!! So bring your family and friends and likes all go camping!!! If you don't have a boat there is boat rentals near by in Lake Port! I listed the camp sites l liked in my other review. Shirtless Host

Report from your Shirtless Host on Kelsey Creek Camp ground Iam staying in site 71 total shade all day long . This is a great camp ground !! The only thing is if you have RV more then 25 feet there is only a few spots that will do !! The reason is rocks they put large rocks at the back of the pads this tends to shorten the the pads!! So l went around in The Kelsey Creek Campground and l have a list of the larger sites no rocks!! This let you back all the way in to the site. So here is a list of the larger sites! 32; 38; 37; 40; 43; 44; 46; 53; 54; 66; 70; 71; 89; 90; remember this are the best for larger RV. 70,71 had shade all day! This report is only on Kelsey!! Biggest campsite I have ever stayed in. Would be great for large groups (and it seemed that's what most were doing around us). Bit of a misnomer in its name - since you can't really see the water at all, at least in summer. I'd call it a great campground but the other campgrounds in the park seemed just a bit more scenic, which made the Upper Bayview spot less desireable. If I go again, I'll try to get a premium spot in the Kelsey creek campground where sites sit directly on the water.

Report from your Shirtless Host on Clear Lake Park. Don't miss this park it is a great park to spend the weekend or a just a night you will not be sorry!! I hope that you and others heard that a record Cat Fish was in the lake!! I hope that it was a record anyhow. Head up to Clear Lake and camp and maybe you will catch the record Cat Fish or you can just camp and enjoy the camping experience. The lake also has both large and small mouth Bass!!! The lake has Bass , Bluegill and Crappie along with a lot more to do. So bring up your Jet Skies , Boats and your familyand let the adventure begins. This lake is the 3rd. larges lake in Calif. if don't have a boat rent one and the fun begain . Shirtless Host Steve!!

We went in July 2014. Great campsite. Found a semi secluded site 109. The water was refreshing but you could feel the draught is working on Clear Lake. Campground was clean and fun. Some nice hikes in the area.
