Please note, this is HARSTINE ISLAND, NOT HERRON. I haven't gotten Hipcamp to fix this yet. There is a bridge to the island and the coordinates offered for site are correct. Also no bathroom set up at this time. Beautiful peaceful forest with trails, a great spot for elopements (elopement package separate) and a beautiful meadow with a small ringed fire pit for one site and a movable fir pit for another.. Maximum 2 sites in 5 acres. 70% of the Island is forestry but sound DOES carry a long way so it's not dead-quiet. Harstine Island has a BRIDGE, no ferry! One hammock is left up in the forest and there are places for your hammocks to be hung, as well. There is one spot on drive that is between two trees so you need to go slowly and be careful, 9 foot wide at wheel base only. Please take note of this. Easy for cars, a bit tricky for some trailer/RVs. Photo and video can be seen on webpage. Types of wildlife include barred owls, a nighthawk usually in summer can be seen at dusk, western alligator lizards, warblers, robins, crows, wrens, a bear has visited before (lucky me heard it 'woof' at me, bear didn't appreciate my singing), deer, others have seen red fox in the past but we have not been so lucky. Birder's paradise. one lovely review calls it a great place for forest bathing! Puget sound is SO clean here with a diverse salt water life. Orca and Humpback have been spotted nearby. You can track them at Orca Network or Puget Sound Whale Sightings on Facebook. Both '22 and '23 have seen orca making rounds with the incoming tide going under the bridge and circling the island! There is Jarrell Cove state park and a boat ramp at Latimer's Landing Boat Launch few miles way. There is a great local market at the community center Saturdays from 10-12 in the summer. No water view, this is heavy forest off a gravel drive into privacy. No power, no water, pack it in pack it out. Please be careful of deer when you are driving in and observe island speed limits. Familiarize yourself with the personal fire extinguisher at the site.

The place has been farmland since about 1926. It became a family horse property with three pastures and now is a small lavender and blackberry farm. While it is limited to two RV sites, there may be farm visitors walking around the area. Tall cedars and fir remain in the back of the property and provide for a forest experience. It is not a commercial campground. We are now turning it into a small lavender farm. About half of the original pasture is now covered in black ground mat and 3,000 newly planted lavender. Learn more about this land: One acre pasture for dry RV camping (no restroom facilities). There is a potable water/hose bib and an auxilliary 110 volt 15 amp AC connection via extension cord from barn. You should rely primarily on your own power. Walking trails are in cedar trees and on hill across 10 acres with flower fields and blackberry "farm". Free blackberry picking in season (August and Early September). Deer, racoons, foxes, bald eagles and occassional coyote on site. Keep food and trash secure. No toilet or sewer available. There is one portable "porta potty" type facility. Dry camping only, no camp fires allowed due to fire conditions. Pack out own trash/garbage. No Pets allowed. Only visible neighbors are three horses on neigboring 10 acre farm property. There is Wi-Fi. Beach access has been closed.

There are old fruit trees on the land that give plentiful fruit (most years) starting in August, and depending on the time of year you'll also find blackberries, huckleberries and salal berries. Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Inside, includes couch, queen bed, twin bed, fridge with chilled water, freezer, microwave. Nicely heated in winter and stays cool in summer. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. We have been busy on some upgrades in the off season including new furniture for the deck site, new sit spots on the trails, new benches and swings located throughout the forest and planting privacy trees. We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey. The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups! Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

Welcome to Christmas Tree Ridge Hello, This space overlooks the Tahuya Valley to the south and sits along the edge of a deep, forested gully to the east. Once described as a sea of evergreens, rightfully, as decades ago, this whole area grew christmas trees, so we like to think alot of the +40 year old trees where just left to grow for lumber once they stopped farming holiday trees! It feels very remote as it is very quite here, though on a dead air day during commute hours, you'll hear distant road noise, that's about it, often the wind, rain, and the birds drown it out completely. 🏕 Site Overview: (See the site map in photos, please) Valley Ridge Lookout – Largest, the upper site, now with new 22' TiPi. Huge views, outdoor sink; cold shower, and outhouse nearby. Gully Vista (special request) hike-in, tent/hammock site, via a narrow trail down into the gully. West Perch – Smaller site with water and power, tucked along the western edge, pull through parking. Rebuilding for future home of TiPi. Side Step – Closed. Most guests tent camp or bring vans. If your trailering, and the trailer weighs more than your vehicle, this place is not for you. ✅ What Makes This Place Special: Big south skies—great for moon/stargazing. Backs up to 150+ acres of state timberlands, with a new personal link trail that connects the camp to the Howell Lake trail. Tight trails at first then opens up to ORV trails. We’ve got firewood— not perfectly dry but it burns. Kindling recommended in wet seasons for starting. Trash-free land. Please keep it clean, you're welcome to burn paper products and I encourage you to buy more paper and less plastic. Please pack out all waste with you. ⚠️ A Few Notes: Steep drops —stay alert, especially at night. 1-mile dirt driveway is bumpy—take it slow please, more so during dust season. New 2022 Well, Fresh water, but I can't legally recommend drinking it since it flows via temporary water setups. Can fill tanks directly from the well if asked. We love this patch of land and look forward to sharing it with respectful guests. Let us know if you have any questions before you roll in. Weekend Trip to Elfendahl Forest

My second time staying was even more magical than the first! I simply love it at Elfendahl Forest and can’t wait to stay again. I would literally live there if I could! Highlights: the wanderbus is the coolest and has everything you need! There were three cool dogs: Bacchus, Raven and Honey. Along with awesome chickens, bunnies and even a couple of lovely cats. The shower was amazing and I love the communal kitchen and compostable toilets and all the fun decorations and discoverable surprises all over.

F1 felt a bit more private which was nice. It's right on the fence to the river, so it takes 1 minute to walk there. Enough tree coverage if you want to out your tent where there's more cover, but also plenty of open sky if you want to start gaze some. Between the site and the river, there's a flat sandy spot which is even better for start gazing. Certainly is light pollution though, so I wouldn't make it a main spot for star gazing in general. It's also very close to the railroad and the military base, so expect there to be train sounds, helicopter and distant sounding explosions lol.

Great stay! Communication 10/10 Facilities 10/10 Privacy 7/10, but to be fair, it is a meadow! :P Love the accessibility of this campground, close to Olympia/Lacey without feeling like you're near the city at all. I am a tent camper, and the site was clean and level enough for a comfy night on the ground. The shower and sink facility was absolutely killer. I look specifically for sites where i can access a shower when i'm out camping, especially before returning to civilization, and this was a great setup and a great experience.

This place is stunning. The hill up was pretty steep but we made it just fine with 4wd. The teepee is great and having the option of either firepit was awesome. Running water with the sink, the outhouse, and the amount of open space was all fantastic. Great access to trails and Howell lake trail was excellent and secluded. Also there was PLENTY of firewood and kindling. Highly recommend for large groups and families.

Incredibly peaceful, indeed. You will see deer and bunnies all around the yard. Great hosts who helped me back up into my spot and offered me some delicious soup. Also, try a gyro at the Sunset Beach Grocery & Deli about 10 minutes down the road, they are absolutely delicious.

Hidden meadow is a beautiful large open area bounded by tall trees with dispersed camping at the edges. Jake and Molly are very friendly and kind people, and their generosity and thoughtfulness show in every aspect of the beautiful campground they have created here. A propane shower is available, as well as a hot tub. Trails take you down to the waters edge with numerous little sitting areas set up down there with chairs so you can take in the peacefulness of the natural world. Hidden meadow is really a gem and I highly recommend recommended if you are in the area.

Tent spots 1 through 6 are the best river access spots if you're just looking to play with your children next to the river. Seven through 12 are the best from camp fishing spots. The place also has swings and other equipment for kids to play on as well as a field and the river was really fun to walk. Another benefit is that food is only about 30 minutes away so you can actually pick up food and go have a picnic by the river.

It was a wonderful quiet peaceful retreat. We didn't do much of anything except enjoy a beautiful view, have warm bare feet finally! and enjoy each other's company.
