Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River with a swimming hole, & a short distance further to the Pacific Crest Trail. A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River. Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property. Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. Mt Adams and many hiking trails are nearby. If you are a rafter or a kiter, we are very close to the river as well! It will sleep 4 comfortably- please contact me about extra guests. There is a trundle bed with twin mattresses, and a Queen bed. Both have fitted sheets only. Please bring everything else you may need to be comfortable. The cabin is off grid so charge your electronics beforehand and bring a cooler! It’s a great place for a reset : ) Get your feet on the ground and wake up with the birds chirping. Winter sports galore up here right now! Cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ample parking for snow mobile trailers! OR bring your favorite book and come enjoy a peaceful restful weekend! Springtime is a gorgeous time of year up here and turkey season is a favorite! Ample room for boats/trailers if you are considering hitting Drano lake for some springer salmon fishing! It is apx 30 minutes away. In the summertime come up and enjoy the hiking! Weekend Trip to Retired DNR Fire Watch Cabin

The cabin is off to the side of the front of the property along a quiet country road, wedged between cow pastures and hilly ridges with trees and elk. The setup exceeded our expectations - warm, comfy, plenty of space, a gas stove for heat and a camp stove for cooking. Getting to hiking is close but not necessarily walkable - Trout Lake town with the ranger station for the National Park is a 10 min drive. Fridge and bathroom with shower a short walk from the cabin are a bonus. It’d be fun to visit again in spring or autumn.

Weekend Trip to Peace on Earth

We had a wonderful time at Brian's cabin! It was clean and comfortable, and the toilet and hot shower were so appreciated! It is truly like being alone in the woods because it is so quiet. We loved playing Scrabble and listening to John Denver on the CD player. Our dog enjoyed the off leash walk up to the water tanks and back - Brian has a gorgeous property. It was a perfect weekend getaway and we can't wait to come back.

This cabin is peaceful. It had everything we needed for comfort. It is maintained with thoughtfulness. The cabin is clean and stocked with supplies making it easy to care for while there. The weather was very cold (26 to 38 degrees) as expected and we stayed toasty, The roads are well maintained and the mountain spectacular. We will come back when we can spend more time outside enjoying the grounds and exploring. This was a fabulous place to retreat and spend time with friends. Our dog was so happy, she is part husky and was in her element outside. She loved it. We all did.

We loved staying at the Rainier Explorer cabin! Overall we found the cabin to be comfortable, warm, and have all of the amenities we could need. I would highly recommend it to a friend who wanted to visit Mt. Rainier National Park, Packwood, or go ski White Pass. The cabin was well stocked and clean. The heater and electric fireplace kept use perfectly warm over the cold winter nights. The queen bed in the primary bedroom was really comfortable. The hot tub is just what we needed after a long day skiing. The cabin is a 5 min drive from Packwood, WA where you can find all you need to stock up for your stay and recover after a long hike/ski.

Our reasons for going or to get isolated from technology and the Internet and this cabin was the perfect place to do that. Weekend Trip to Retired DNR Fire Watch Cabin

The cabin was incredibly cozy. Even though it was below freezing outside for most of our trip the heater and blankets kept us super warm inside. Waking up to the cows and the mountains always felt amazing, and at night if the sky was clear so many stars were visible.

2 nights at Peace on Earth

This is a great place to get away and unwind. The cabin is really nice and cozy with all the amenitiesyou need. There is no internet or cell service in the cabin which I truly appreciated. The hosts were great and very accommodating. I will definitely be back and would recommend checking this place out. 5 STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Weekend Trip to Retired DNR Fire Watch Cabin

If being off grid isnt your cup of tea then this cabin probably isnt for you but we love it. One of our favoright things about staying here is that there is very little to no cell service and wifi only if you want to hook up to it. We love being off grid and having quality family time to interact with eachother with out the distractions of cell phones or tv. No power no problem for us! This is our favoright family get away spot by far.

I loved the location, it was decently close to the main city but still was extremely tranquil! I’ll definitely be coming back, our host was so sweet and we had a friendly kitty stay with us in the cabin.

2 nights at Waterfall Sanctuary

The forest view cabin was cozy. We went in winter so bring some extra blankets and you’ll be set. We loved the trails around the property and the goats were so cute. Tyla gave us great recommendations for local restaurants that were delicious and the little cafe in the house was a great added bonus. We also did the sauna and it was amazing.
