Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia Nat. Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing aplenty. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses, a fabulous movie theater and only 15 minutes to Red Wind Casino. There is a railroad track next to the property, only used on Tues. and Thurs. between 10 am and 1 pm. Rarely, it may have an additional passing but it has never run after dark or early morning. (We are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. The town center is anchored by three parks filled with giant maples and evergreens. You will be awed by the view of Mt. Rainier from Washington Avenue. The levees on the east and west sides of town are perfect for hikes along the rivers. The 20 mile Foothills Trail meanders right through the middle of town and then takes you along the Carbon River levee. Bike, walk, take the stroller and the family pet. Enjoy the turn-of-the-century architecture of downtown and eat at one of the 15 restaurants. If your timing is right you can take part in the Daffodil festival and parade the first Saturday of April. Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Inside, includes couch, queen bed, twin bed, fridge with chilled water, freezer, microwave. Nicely heated in winter and stays cool in summer. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. We had an amazing time at the lookout celebrating a friend’s birthday. We had several dogs with us and the whole place was beautiful and comfortable and clearly well maintained. Highly recommend and would love to visit this spot again.

2 nights at Alder Grove Retreat

We loved spending two nights at Dawson’s cabin while we explored Mt Rainier and the surrounding area. The space was clean and cozy and had everything we needed for an off the grid stay. And the views from the porch and outdoor shower were the icing on the cake. Highly recommend!

4 nights at The Village at Rainier

Beaver Cabin (#1) is a wonderful, cozy place! The loft (up the ladder) with the beds was a special touch for my teen grandsons! The cabin is VERY small, so just be prepared to 'crunch-in'. We enjoyed the challenge! Outdoors is great with the BBQ fire-pit...picnic table, and the hot tub an added comfort! Didn't take very long to get to Paradise & Rainier. Thanks you, Janet

2 nights at Ridgeline Retreat

“Tiny” was unexpectedly cozy! Which was very appreciated as the weather turned out to be terrible for the days we planned our get away. Mary went above and beyond as a host while we tried to make the most of our time despite the cold and rainy weather, even lending us a few card games to play during our stay. I love how secluded their property feels but at the same time, the hosts were available and helpful.

We loved our stay at this adorably, well-appointed tiny home! Very friendly hosts and excellent communication. Highly recommended this farm stay if you’re in the area. (We had a good laugh at the decorated outhouse. Perfect!)

The futon pulls out into a very comfy double size bed.

Absolutely beautiful views! The campsite was clean, varied, and sprawling. The Airstream provided nice amenities and was very well stocked, while the Dome provides nice living space. The only thing I'll note: our dog found the gravel paths very uncomfortable to walk on. I'd recommend dog shoes to anyone bringing a furry friend.

Weekend Trip to Cole's Cabin on Anderson Island

Fred’s cabin is magical! My partner and I live in the busy city and it was so healing and fun to spend time quality time at the cabin with our two dogs. The cabin truly has everything you need and it’s very cute and cozy. We spent a lot of time down at the private beach as well and never even saw another person. We will definitely be making a trip back to stay at the cabin.

Tiny is the ultimate little cabin in the woods! Super beautiful property, extremely comfortable bed, perfect amount of “middle of nowhere”! Both Mary and Lloyd were great hosts and extremely accommodating. Although, I wish I had known prior to staying just how close to their home Tiny actually is, luckily we were happy with the company!

Weekend Trip to The Plank and Pillow on Pirate Cove

This spot truly is a treasure. Warm lake, private little inlet with lots of options no matter the age. My kids loved the pirate theme and had a few treasure hunts; my teenage daughter stayed on the paddleboard. The kids were up early to fish and went to bed wiped out every night. It is hard to entertain the entire family, but this place has pretty much taken the pressure off and provided a special experience for everyone to enjoy the time spent here!

Weekend Trip to Alder Grove Retreat

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Alder Grove Retreat. The property is an oasis, so well conceptualized and crafted. You walk down a lovely trail past the sauna to the secluded cabin with an extraordinary view and all the amenities one would want to make it a comfortable getaway. We loved that the sauna is wood fired, that there's a fire pit, and that the cabin was so cozy with large windows. The whole space was exactly as you see and much better in person. Thanks, Dawson!

Great campground. Appreciate the access to open&close entrance gate after hours if arrived after closing then being allowed to help self to a site as long as you keep honest and fill out the slip/envelope you get at site front office and drop it in drop box once competed asap. Clean campground! 24hr access to bathrooms for campers only! Water & electric hookup only. Best campground in my opinion.
