(In some of the pictures you will see the horses in the area of the camp, but whenever there are campers they will not be turned out there.) There is 20 amp electric (which can safely power a 30 amp rv unless you run too many things at once) and water (hose). There is a porta-potty and a shower shed with a tankless water heater for your convenience. We also offer the option of a small bunk room in the barn. Heated and cooled (fan) with a small "kitchen" area, it has a pull out futon which sleeps 2 and requires you supply your own bedding and towels. 1 Hour to Mt. Rainier National Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia National Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing aplenty. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses. There is also a fabulous movie theater. And only 15 minutes to the Red Wind Casino. There is a railroad track next to the property, but it is only used on Tues. and Thurs. between 10 am and 1 pm when a short train passes by and then returns. Rarely, it may have an additional passing but not often and it has never run after dark or early morning. (It is a military train so pretty punctual). (Also, as we are only a 5 acre property, we are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. They are county roads though and not highly traveled for the most part.) **Trigger Warnings: We are near the military base of JBLM and so you will occasionally hear their military doings. Country neighbors occasionally do some target practice, so you may hear some shooting. As we are a horse property, we will also require that everyone sign a release of liability waiver and will require all adults to show legal ID upon arrival. * We require a completed profile with a picture before we accept a booking.

The levees on the east and west sides of town are perfect for hikes along the rivers. The 20 mile Foothills Trail meanders right through the middle of town and then takes you along the Carbon River levee. Bike, walk, take the stroller and the family pet. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. We are so excited for the 2026 season! Book your full-venue rental now before spots fill up! We have been busy on some upgrades in the off season including new furniture for the deck site, new sit spots on the trails, new benches and swings located throughout the forest and planting privacy trees. Cant wait to see you this season! We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey. The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups! Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

This place is phenomenal and exceptionally well thought out. Dawson was super helpful and responsive. The deck view was stunning and the place had everything we needed to make an amazing meal. This area is also beautiful and the drive to and from is unreal. Hope to be back soon.

Everything about our stay was amazing. The cabin was cozy and just what we needed. The trail down to the beach was easy and the beach was beautiful. The host Fred was very helpful and communicative. 5 stars all around!

Weekend Trip to Cole's Cabin on Anderson Island

It was a wonderful quiet peaceful retreat. We didn't do much of anything except enjoy a beautiful view, have warm bare feet finally! and enjoy each other's company. We will return in a more adventurous time. Fred was a wonderful host & yes, the brownies are good, especially with a cup of mint tea before bed!

What a lovely space to unwind! The view is relaxing, fire at dusk, its a breath of fresh air. Everything you could need is supplied, we appreciated the little local guide binder that was provided. And the toilet is not scary to use at all.

Exceeded my expectations! This place was charming, cozy, and comfortable. The inside of the yurt is even more pleasant than you'd think. The themes of spirituality were also very appreciated. Definitely coming back the next chance I get!

This was a great spot for exploring Mt Rainier National Park, especially in the cooler weather. We loved soaking after snowshoeing and hiking and the space to cook and relax. Janet was very helpful and responsive with her communication.

The cabin was amazing. Fred was an amazing host and, both from our stay and the reviews left in the guest book, seems very good at reading people and meeting their wants and needs in every respect. The cabin was clean and getting to watch the sunrise on the private beach was amazing. Would definitely recommend and go for another visit.

Weekend Trip to Alder Grove Retreat

Amazing, absolutely amazing land that we stayed on. Dawson (camp host) was excellent in communicating with us if we had any questions or concerns. We had a wonderful stay away from the world we live in today. The cabin we stayed in was maintained very well, upkeep on the trail leading to the cabin was top notch. We began our stay in wet and cold conditions. The trail had fresh wood chips to counter the slippery conditions. The parking area was freshly laid with a bed of thick gravel, this made parking and unloading our belongings safe for us. We recommend this stay to anyone looking for paradise in the mountains. To note, we stayed nice and warm throughout the night which was pleasant. We plan to stay many times when the weather is warmer. Cameron

Weekend Trip to The Khohay Farm

The Khohay farm was an incredible place to visit. Jenel and Khohay were both very accomodating made made our stay a delight. They had wonderful reccomendations for places near by and made sure my partner and I had everything we needed. Anytime I stay in the area, I'll keep their place in mind.

The futon pulls out into a very comfy double size bed.

1 night at Country Refuge Close to City

I had an out of town job in Yelm area and discovered The Barn Bunk Room.I'm done with motels etc.Hipcamp has become my go to.It was quiet and cozy,I didn't take advantage of all the amenities(fire pit,covered sitting area etc)Traci and Khris were very gracious hosts.I appreciated being behind a secure gate too (I have a van full of tools) It was a good experience! Jenel and Khohay were very communicative hosts! It’s very clear they put a lot of love and character into their property. We loved the farm fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning and would highly recommend the sauna as an add on! We enjoyed waking up to the rooster “roostering”, the sheep walking the path near the tiny house, and feeding the goats! The deck was lovely for making s’mores and we appreciated having the outdoor fireplace. The layout of the tiny home was really comfortable and cozy. The puppies were a huge highlight of our trip and were absolute sweethearts as well and it was nice to love on them in the communal bunkhouse.

Great campground. Appreciate the access to open&close entrance gate after hours if arrived after closing then being allowed to help self to a site as long as you keep honest and fill out the slip/envelope you get at site front office and drop it in drop box once competed asap. Clean campground! 24hr access to bathrooms for campers only! Water & electric hookup only. Best campground in my opinion.
