If you love privacy, nature, wildlife, and fresh air, you will love Deer Park Mountain View RV Campsite.
Our property is 17 acres of mostly unimproved land. There are open meadows, forested areas, and a trail that circles the property. Find the beginning of the wood-chip trail near the campsite and follow it through the trees. The trail comes out near the house. Enjoy the view and take care near the cliff.
The campsite is in a small open meadow surrounded by trees on three sides and with a view to the south toward the Olympic mountains. We have only one campsite. You will be very private with no other campers nearby. Electrical, water, and sewer hookups are provided.
NOTE: There are no bathroom facilities for tent campers.
SEWER HOOKUP NOTE: Sewer hookup is on the driver's side of the vehicle if you pull in forward. If you pull all the way forwards the sewer hookup will be 24' behind the front tire. There is no turnaround and you cannot drive off the front of the pad.
The hookup is raised about 2 feet off the ground to enable gravity feed. It may not work to back in and run the sewer hose on the ground to our connection.

We are the first left, just after the guardrails. Down the gravel road some 75 feet, turn right at the "Ranger Creek Campground" sign and follow the unimproved road about 100 feet to the campground. Campsite 4 is the first one you'll see, further down the road campground 1 is on the left, campsite 2 is on the right, campsite 3 is strait ahead. Please respect the privacy of the other campers.
In the rainy season the road in can be slick.
Four Wheel Drive vehicles are recommended in the case of large amounts of rain, or snow.
Not recommended for RV's or trailers over 15 feet.

There are ponds to look at and eventually they will be stocked with fish. The campsites are not completely flat and may have a few small holes so please be careful and watch your step. A lot of this property has been left natural for years and we are trying to keep it as natural as possible. We do suggest sleeping on an air mattress or camping pad for your comfort. We are just starting out so this place will get better and better as time goes on.
We at The Rustic Retreat value your privacy and we try not to interact with campers unless you request.
The Peninsula Northwest has some amazing activities including hiking, biking, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, whale watching, beach combing, Kayaking, and so much more. The Rustic Retreat is about 20 minutes from downtown Port Angeles and the Victoria Ferry and about 30 minutes from Lake Crescent. It is the perfect place to stay in between everything.
There is a communal firepit can be used by all campers until the Clallam County burn ban comes into affect. During the burn ban, the firepit will be closed off.
We also have walking trails, more lighting and parking. We have not been able to get fish in the ponds yet, however some wild ducks stop by now and again to say hi. The hiking trail head is down the dirt road, west of the porta potty, it is roughly 316 yards to the trail head. Walking and biking is allowed. Trail is very natural so it is uneven, please be careful.
2026 Update: The property The Rustic Retreat Campground in on, is for sale. We will try to keep all reservations throughout September as long as the buyer agrees. If you are interested in more information about the sale, just ask.

Created over 35 years ago by the Funstons, we (Will and Asha) became the stewards of this beautiful property in June 2016. We live on the property with Clancy, Uncle Larry, Tim and Pete and our friendly dog Pickle.
3 Secluded campsites are nestled among cedars, firs, hemlock and maples. Site 1 & 2 have a 2 Night minimum stay, Site 3 has a 1 Night minimum stay. Tents only, no vehicle camping/trailers or pets please. Community firepit has chairs, with Free firewood (‘a curated selection of site-grown firewood’ may include: cedar, fir, hemlock, cherry, madrone, etc). The nearby Tent Shelter features cold water, a picnic table, countertop for indoor/outdoor food prep and dining, along with trash cans and a camp stove. Sanican is a short walk from the tent sites.
We have lovely Woods with sculptures and artwork created from materials found on the property by our friend Pete. We also have Gardens to wander in to support your sense of peace and connection.
Safe, secure, private, scenic. Please have no more than two people and one vehicle per site. There is no electricity available in the Tent camping area.
This is NOT a party camp space. We are a place for peace and quiet where you can enjoy the woods. We are also not suitable for children (if you have tweens/teens, message us). We have too many "attractive nuisances" for young children to be safe.
You're staying on a 7 acre, mostly forested parcel, 1/4 mile from Hwy 101, mid way between Port Angeles and Sequim, WA. Some traffic hum, but not much, and it varies depending on how the wind is blowing. We're 3/4 miles East of the Deerpark entrance to Olympic Natl Park, 4.5 miles East of the Main Olympic National Park Wilderness Information Center.

Located 10 miles west of Port Angeles on the scenic Highway 112. This is a small farm homestead with geese, chickens, and Flynn the farm dog. Beautiful setting near the Straits of Juan De Fuca where on a quiet day you can hear the waves as they soothe you to sleep after stargazing the incredible views of the night sky will very little light pollution.
You will often see Eagles soar above you and curious deer roam the property as you get ready to get out and discover this gorgeous gateway where so many endless adventures await you just outside your doorstep.
A half mile down the road you can visit the whale trail where you will find a Sandy beach, high rocky cliffs , many tide pools to explore, and a resident octopus if you can find him among the starfish. Freshwater bay is excellent for kayaking, hiking, beach combing or sunbathing.
Mountain biking is excellent straight from this property as there are many designated hiking and biking trails where there are benches built in at viewpoints to enjoy the panoramic views of the straits, Canada and Olympic National park. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for some WW11 bunkers to explore along your ride.
We offer a large grassy communal area with cedar picnic tables, fire pit, Adirondack chairs , potable water ( safe to drink) large BBQ grill, electric outlets, and Cornhole.
We are out in the country away from the sounds of the city but close enough to enjoy many beautiful places around you. Port Angeles is 12 miles away, Victoria ferry 20 minutes, 9 miles to Salt Creek , 12 miles to Hurricane Ridge visitor center, 30 miles to Hurricane Ridge Olympic National Park, 1/2 mile to Freshwater Bay, 24 miles to Hoh rain forest, 9 miles to Lake Crescent Lodge and the list goes on!

We enjoyed the simplicity and beautiful views that The Back Porch offered us and we look forward to coming back and spending more time enjoying the surrounding areas of Port Angeles and the easy access to the national park and other recreational spots . The location is truly close to everything that surrounds Port Angeles . We arrived a tad later in the evening , but even in the dark we were able to follow their written instructions which also copied our GPS . Kate met us with a welcome bag of goodies , treats for the dog and some fun stickers , which was a great surprise . The location is right along side the end of their house and driveway … but still very private and quiet . We highly recommend this spot . The nightly rate was very competitive too. We own a mid sized class A , 33 ft, and took up most of the pad area . Slightly larger rigs will fit but you may feel a little tight , or close to the homes driveway. Power is a 50 amp plug in and water only , so bring an adapter to down size .. Kate brought one with the goodies in case we needed it , but we were already plugged in . Again we would highly recommend this location .

Very peaceful and nice location to Crescent Beach and a variety of recreation . Janelle was very helpful and made sure I was settled in ok. Both the options for camping are great and there is space and nature surrounding. Flynn the resident dog visited respectfully and we took a walk at dusk. It was nice to know he was around being so shepherdly sweet and friendly. I’ll be back.

Spot number one was perfect for my needs! I wish I had been able to stick around and enjoy the area but unfortunately, I just needed a place to pitch my tent to sleep for a night. I came in after dark and left before the sun came up, although my partner stayed a bit later. The campsite was easy to find easy to load in and out of large and quiet. I was grateful for this sites proximity to the Clallam County Fairgrounds.

Van camping in the Nook at Elwha was quiet and peaceful! The hosts were super accommodating of my last minute vehicle change and helped me find a place that would fit a large campervan. The bathroom was warm, which was perfect for showering after a week on the road, but also a bit far from my campsite (an oversight on my part). I’m not sure if this is normal, but both porta-jons near me were locked- didn’t have a chance to ask the hosts about it since I was mostly away during operating hours. Having WiFi was a nice surprise, which helped me stay in the loop about events planned at the fungi festival.

The Ranger, ha ha inside joke. The GM was extremely helpful on finding the discovery Trail! He knew my first name, but I do not know his. This RV park has only been open for 2 1/2 months. What a wonderful facility. Very clean and well kept. Deer visited our campsite this morning! What a joy. Private individual shower/bathrooms. The whole facility is immaculate. It definitely checked all the boxes quite safe clean and friendly. Thank you so much! You made our visit to the Pacific Northwest a complete joy.

We parked and stayed in our van overnight and it was so great. The fire pit, chairs, and dry firewood available on property was so nice. The site has portapotties and they were the cleanest ones i've ever used, no smell and perfectly clean and stocked. Very quiet and comfortable site, would happily stay again for longer.

This is a lovely spot with a host that goes above and beyond. We had two sitting areas and a firepit to use. The cushions and pillows were such a nice touch and the tables were clean and ready to enjoy. She greeted us with a very generous gift bag and an offer to use their adapter to go from 50 to 40 amps. The water view is beautiful. We would happily recommend to friends.

It's a striking landscape covered with lush rainforests and moss-covered boulders. Waves crash on sandy beaches and snow-capped mountains give way to sprawling meadows. Being an isolated peninsula, the forest has many plants and animals found nowhere else in the world.

We found a site by the Sol Duc River that was beautiful and private. The tent site had plenty of room, we were a long way from the main road, the picnic table was good. All in all, a good place to camp. It did rain lightly most of the time, so be advised that it is in a fairly wet part of the world.

The sites are small (I didn't mind) but the views and the big trees were really cool. The campground isn't far from a store and a gas station, and if you keep going down South Shore road, you will see some pretty stuff; I was there in May and everything was lush and green, the little streams and waterfalls were still quite robust; beautiful!

This campground is closed pending renovations. They need to remove trees that are in danger of falling. A commercial timber project is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2019 before work to reopen the campground can be completed.

NIce camping dry camp. Private/ semi private. Large sites, close to Lake Cushman. Public access to lk. Cushman at the Skokokmish Park (fee). Big Creek campground reopened last may.

New water system, restrooms, lager sites, lg. group camp, beautiful cabana first come first serve. Nice base camp for hiking exploring the Olympic National park, Staircase area, Hood canal. Quiet no traffic well maintained , clean.

Site #14 - Best back-in trailer/RV spot. fairly private. River access.
Site #15 - Best multiple RV spot. Huge parking, flat area. Visible from the road which can be a bummer, especially in the fall. Wading pond can be stagnant during the summer (mosquitoes!). Good river access.

Site #11 - Overall good site, decent trailer parking if a bit shallow. Good water access and reasonably private, especially in the spring.
Site #12 - Excellent site, parking can be very tough for pulled trailers, low overhead (loops around a tree). Very private, good almost private river access due to up and downriver obstructions. Can be shady in the morning.
Site #13 - My favorite, good for back-in trailers. A bit of a steep dip from the parking to the main camp area, but private with excellent access to the river.

Site #8 & #9 If you're bringing the whole block up for a party these are the sites for you. Lots of parking space (I've seen a camper truck, 2 SUV's and a sedan parked there at the same time). Huge open space and large access to the river behind the sites.
Site #10 - in throwing distance to #8 and #9, so risk of partygoers getting all up in your business. If you're good with that or the partiers are not up that weekend, then it's an excellent site. Good river access and parking. Nice flat areas for multiple tents.

Sites #5 & #6 - Good sites with access to both the feeder stream and the river behind the sites. Close together so good for large families or party goers. If you have too many people for two sites -- then #4 is a good overflow site for this group area. Tent only as the parking is for both sites and not easily accessed.
Site #7 - if you show up late on a friday or weekend chances are this is the only site left. Very exposed on 3 sides and faces the ranger board and pay site. No water access. Pretty much tent only - there's not really any parking

Sites #1 & #2 are good for large family groups, or a set of families. They are separated by brush and a fallen tree, but are still very accessible to each other. There is a steep drop off behind the sites to a feeder stream. No direct river access.
Site #3 has no direct water access, but is fairly isolated from the rest of the campground. Shady, and easy to back into. Good for a small group or large family.
Site #4 is a shallow, and very open site. Good if you don't care if everyone can see you. No direct river access. Drop off behind the site to the feeder stream.

Collins Campground was AMAZING. The campsites are gorgeous, especially the ones right on the river. We had scoped it out ahead of time, and were hoping to get site #12 with the little pull-through for vehicles, but it was taken when we got there so we ended up with #13. Which was a blessing in disguise, because it was chilly in the mornings, and we noticed that our neighbors didn't get any sunlight through their trees; however, our site was a bit more open and so it warmed up nicely. Try to bring plenty of water, because even though there IS water available at the Interrorem cabin a mile and a half away, it's well water (and if you are not used to it, the color might turn you off a bit.)

Loved the couple days we spent here! The bonus (for me, anyways!) was that they were one of a handful of campgrounds on the Olympic Peninsula that allowed campfires during the burn ban. Also, the little general store in Brinnon is conveniently located just a couple minutes away, in case you forgot the milk/ketchup/butter/forks (yes, we forgot ALL of those LOL)

Excellent place to camp early or late in the season. Large shady sites with easy access to the shore of Hood Canal. Be aware of Oyster harvest rules and regs before harvesting. All shells must be returned to the beach.

Go for one of the sites that has a view of the lake, it won't disappoint. There is a camp host on-site that sells firewood and ice. A well stocked general store, gas station, and forest service ranger station are all down the road near Lake Quinault Lodge.
