We are a family/veteran-owned small farm offering primitive creek-side and open field camping that's perfect for motorcyclists, car campers, and tourists traveling on an adventure. We are located along the historic Crooked Road Music Trail and right off the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 159.3. There are 6 creek-side campsites and open-field campsites in the peaceful field, all with access to trails. We have been developing our dream property and wanted to welcome visitors with affordable tent camping in an incredibly beautiful area of the country. Also, on the property we have a store with essential camping needs, local products, artisan items, coffee, and souvenirs. During the summer we offer a "YouPick" flower experience in our crop field (come get a container and pick your own bouquet of flowers) and special/tourism events. Peak season for flowers is from July to September. We would love for you to camp and give us feedback as we are constantly improving things. Our newest amenity is a 1 mile hiking trail that starts at the campground and takes you through the woods to the top of our property. Come ride, camp, and explore the area!

Woodsy Glamping near Stone Mtn.

2 sites · Lodging23 acres · Traphill, NC
Come relax in a 315 square foot canvas bell tent with all the comforts of home. With a queen bed, sofa, exclusive fire pit, hot water, AC/dehumidifier, shower, and a large cooler, there's not much left to be desired! The tent and lounge areas are protected from precipitation by a roof. Bring your furry friends for no extra charge, and come reconnect with nature on 23 acres of woods just 4 minutes from Stone Mountain State Park and a half hour from over two-dozen wineries! The tent sits on a two-tiered deck and offers the comforts of home in an outdoor setting. Guests are provided with linens and towels, heat and air conditioning, a wood stove and small charcoal BBQ, cookware, and a large cooler where groceries can be stored. With all of these features, it can be easy to forget that this experience is still fundamentally camping. Therefore, we do ask guests to properly secure food and waste items from wildlife that are very active throughout the area including black bear, coyotes, and bobcats. It is rare that any of our wild friends care to interact with humans, but it's better to be safe. Additionally, 4x4 or AWD vehicles are recommend for parking close to the camp site due to loose gravel and a grade, but alternative parking spots are available. The campsite is typically open year-round, but weather conditions are subject to requiring the water be shut off to the sink, shower, and toilet. This is only during winter months when temperatures are likely to cause our water lines to freeze and potentially burst. Water is still accessible at the campsite via a hydrant, however water will be turned off to the fixtures if temperatures dip below freezing. Our property consists of three rental options - two log cabins and the campsite. These three sites are situated on 23 acres located less than 5 minutes from the entrance to Stone Mountain State Park. Please review the attached images which shows an overhead view detailing the distance between the rentals. The Colonial glampsite is marked by the red X. Guests are welcome to explore the property, but we ask all guests to be respectful of each other as well as our resident chickens, which are difficult to miss in their barn-red house near the entrance of the driveway. Furry family members are most welcome - there are no additional fees - and some pet supplies are provided. Pets must be leashed when outside. This is for their safety, the safety of the wildlife, and that of other guest's pets. We do not live on-site but we are able to respond to messages or requests fairly quickly. Please reach out to us for any reason if necessary! ***Fall 2023 Update - As we enter into cooler months, stink bugs began searching for warm environments to live in. We do our best to mitigate against them including hiring pest control and collecting them when they make it inside. However, there is no full-proof insecticide that is successful at preventing them, and they have no natural predators; and unfortunately, they thrive in forest environments like the one where we are located. Please review these circumstances prior to booking your stay. ***

Mystic Meadow Love Shack

My farm had been untouched for years and only used as hay farming. It is rolling hills known by the locals as "Butterfly Hill" Which the farm is home to many species of butterflies in the summer. I know the area was inhabited by native Americans many decades ago. I have found a few broken arrow heads over the years. The farm is beautiful and quiet. I have a beautiful hiking trail around the property for you to take your fur babies on. The cabin is right on a beautiful stream too. There are several state parks nearby and river tubing within 10 -30 minutes. Hot showers and potable water just a few feet away.

The best camping near Hanging Rock State Park guide

Overview

About

Drive 30 miles from Winston-Salem to find the Sauratown Mountains. There's more to these scenic beauties than meets the eye once you reach the park grounds. Choose to hike to the top, swim in a cool lake, and walk past some waterfalls.

Head to the top of Moore's Knob, the highest point of the park. Sit on the large gray outcropping and take in the view. Pilot Mountain sits in the distance, all covered in green trees. If you prefer rock climbing, Moore's Wall and Cook's Wall are for you.

Hike on 20 miles of trails in the park, including a trip to see five named waterfalls. The Lower Cascades falls are popular as they cascade 40 feet to a shallow pool. Check out Tory's Den, a rocky outcropping where British loyalists supposedly had a hideout during the Revolution.

Swim at the lake, or rent a canoe to leisurely explore the cool, blue water. Float the Dan River for a scenic, tree-lined journey.

Relax at the 73-site campground for tents or RVs, or rent one of the 10 cabins.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Hanging Rock State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the foliage is either blooming or showcasing a vibrant array of autumn colors. Summer offers lush greenery but can be quite warm, while winter provides a stark, quiet beauty, though some facilities may be limited.

Know before you go

  • Check the park's website for any trail closures or safety alerts before your visit.
  • Wear appropriate footwear for hiking and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  • Be aware of park wildlife and maintain a safe distance at all times.
  • Facilities such as restrooms and picnic areas are available, but it's wise to bring your own supplies.
  • Cell service can be spotty, so plan accordingly and inform someone of your itinerary.
