This campsite is nestled in the deep woods of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 3/4 - 1 mile hike in (approximately 20 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. The trail is remote and you will instantly be able to leave the sights and sounds of civilization behind you and breath the clean forest air. Wear good hiking shoes because portions of the hike are uneven and rocky. This site is best for experienced campers who know how to pack light with just the essentials as there is no tractor service to this campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be within 20 feet of a year round stream with brook trout and in a hundred foot tall hemlock canopy nestled between two brook meadows. A 9,000 acre forested preserve abuts our property so you will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, or fish for a brook trout breakfast without hearing the sounds of anyone but yourselves. The campsite has a stone fire pit, split log benches for seating, a canvas privacy blind around a stand of trees where the composting toilet resides, and a food bag lift to attach your food and trash bags to about 100 yards from the campsite. Unlimited Split firewood is free next to where you will park that you can take down to the site. All trash needs to be carted out with you. We can't accept mixed trash as it will attract animals that will knock over the trashcans and make a mess. No food goes in our personal trashcans as we have learned this the hard way. Thanks! *For those that are looking for a closer walk-in site, look up our Little Birds Farm - Rolling Forest campsite also listed on Hipcamper!

Little Birds Treehouse
100% (9)
Treehouse · Sleeps 8 · 1 bedroom · 5 beds
The Little Birds Treehouse is a multi-level fantastic treehouse nestled within three oak and two maple trees on a wooded sloping hill. It is an all season space, great for Fall and Winter stays with it's heated and insulated rooms, and also perfect for Spring and Summer, nestled into the forest where it stays ten degrees cooler in the shade of the deciduous canopies. Entering the lower level through a 12' bridge, you get to a large deck for picnicking and lounging about under the trees. The ground quickly slopes away from the treehouse and by the time you climb the stairs to the middle living room level you are already 16' off the ground when sitting on its back porch. This gives you relaxing views to watch the deer and other animals walk by down below, with the birds and owls flying above. The living room has a pull out sleeper couch (sleeps 2), and a double loft (a twin bed and a child size mattress). It has a small table and chairs, and a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop, and a sink with hot and cold water. Cutlery and plates are provided for your convenience as well as basic cooking ware. From the back porch you can enter the separate toilet room with a state of the art composting toilet. The lofty upper treehouse level is the main bedroom which you climb an outdoor spiral staircase to get to. It has beautiful canopy views from it's front porch and sleeps 4 with its double bed, and twin size bunk bed. The grounds around have a stone fire-pit with split log seating with views of the stars through the clearing in the trees. Nearby towns like Port Jervis and Milford offer great downtown walking/shopping/cultural experiences. There are rafting and canoeing opportunities along the Delaware just a few miles away. And there is also a great award winning playhouse during the Spring and Summer called the Forestburgh Playhouse and Tavern (https://www.fbplayhouse.org/) that is a 7 minute drive away. Come see a show or a dinner cabarets and then retire to your treehouse for the night. For those Eco conscious travelers out there, the treehouse is made comfortable and energy efficient for all seasons, with no fossil fuels used for heating or cooking. The whole structure follows Passive House building principals, and is internally wrapped with 9" of hemp insulation, very efficient windows, an energy recovery ventilation system for optimal fresh air, and super tight airsealing all around for comfort from drafts and the cold. A small electric radiator in each house is enough to maintain very comfortable indoor winter temperatures.

(Coming this Fall 23', ask us about our Little Birds Farm Treehouse for rent, the Hawks Nest!) This campsite is nestled into the forest of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 1/4 mile walk in (approximately 5-8 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be on a level part of a rolling forested hill with enjoyable woodland views all around. You will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, and your company. Great stay by the brook
We stayed next to the brook and it was beautiful, serene and private. Jeremy was a wonderful host with clear directions, answers to our questions, and kind hospitality. The hike out was rocky and a little muddy at some spots, but gorgeous. The campsite was clean and very convenient including the compost toilet, the picnic table, the fire pit, and the stream for water. Our only issue was some ticks trying to get into the tents. Overall, our family of six had one of the most peaceful camping trips we’ve ever had despite some rain. We are so grateful and highly recommend the site.

Magical!
What a magical place. We decided to book a trip for our son’s 5th birthday and the site was everything a little boy dreams of. From the bunk beds with true tree limbs to the hidden beds above the kitchen area- it was perfect! It is certainly thought out and a lot of love was put into the building process. Jeremy was great with supplying firewood and amble cooking equipment which made it easy to not have to leave for anything extra one may need. Highly recommend paying a visit!

Thumbs up!
We stayed one night in Rolling Forest and it was awesome! Not far from the city at all and a beautiful drive out there. Great campsite that felt peaceful and secluded. Jeremy was gracious host and let us tour the new tree house site that we will definitely be back for!
