The 1.3 acre parcel across the street from the house and farm has a forested peninsula that the A-frame is located on. Our street ends in a small stream that continues to separate the farmstead from the A-frame site. Come stay in our tiny rustic A frame cabin built of mostly reclaimed materials. Enjoy being across the stream and over the bridge from the main house on a private peninsula. Enjoy the privacy of a "single site" camp! Use the fire pit, grill, outdoor wood stove, single burner butane stove or umm the bathroom :) without having to leave your site! Please be aware we are in town and you may hear road noise, lawn mowers, dogs, ect. You may also see and hear wildlife ex; deer, beavers, ducks, muskrats, rabbits, geese, foxes, and coyotes. We encourage native plants and work to provide a sanctuary for many threatened bird species. The cabin is 100sq. feet with sloping interior walls the flip up side wall is permanently open and screened in. There is no running water or electricity so unplug and unwind. A place to plug in and the water spigot a short stroll from your cabin in the driveway The cabin has a a full size mattress with sheets, blankets, throws and pillows. Lanterns, cooking utensils, camp mugs and camp coffee pot are provided. Please request the cast iron skillet and butane burner, it will not be in the cabin if you do not ask for it. You are also welcome to set up your own tent. Please note cleared space is limited and the tent should be a 1-3 person smaller tent. Outside on the deck are tiki torches, woodstove and bistro table. There is a hammock, picnic table, and 2 sets of outdoor chairs at your site. We do not have a swimming hole but the town beach is 5 minutes away and requires a day pass. If you forget something you are a short walk to Cumbies, and several farms, bakeries and a large grocer are a very short drive away. Venture farther (10 minutes) to one of the nearby hiking trails. We are within 15 minutes of the Blackstone Gorge, Southern New England Trunkline Trail, Cornier Woods, Franklin State Forest, Wojcik Farm, Cook's Valley Farm, the New England Bonsai Museum, Diamond Hill Vineyards, Caroline's Cannabis, Shire Conservation Area, New England Country Club, and many stables. The Commuter Rail to Boston, Wrentham Premium Outlets, and a Drive-in Theater are within 30 minutes. Use us as a base to explore Blackstone Valley, Boston and Worcester!! With the original home built in 1785, Milk Thistle farm is on the historic register and is comprised of the main house and 5 acres of land. It is run as a small non-profit animal sanctuary and is home to rescued chickens, goats, and pigs, as well as two humans and their dog and cat companions. The main property is fenced in and is closed off to visitors. We have two sites; the orchard to explore that can also double as hammock camping, as well as a small wooded nook. Both are next to the goat pen. There is parking for cars and bikes. We try to minimize our impact on the environment as much as possible, and encourage our guests to compost, recycle, and dispose of waste accordingly. We enjoyed our stay at Hilltop Tree Farm! The hammock, fire pit, and picnic table were great to have available. The tent itself and the bed were comfortable for our 2 night stay. The location is great, right near hiking trails and a local beach. We got to see a beekeeping demonstration from Blake which was a nice way to end our stay. Blake was friendly and communicative, making sure we had everything we would need.

Management was outstanding. Right there when we needed them! Cabins were awesome! Fridge was the perfect size, even got to watch playoff hockey from the screened in porch. Bathrooms were a walk away but always clean, showers were warm. Overall a great stay.

Beautiful cabins with everything you need right near by. Amazing family that manages the location, there’s activities for the kids and adults. Everyone in the campground is very friendly and outgoing, they keep well control of their dogs so there isn’t barking all night. Very clean well kept bathroom, laundry room and office! I can’t wait to come back!

Mackenzie and the rest of the volunteers and staff we met were super friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the Terrasphere and it was a really unique experience. The site was really well appointed with lights and electricity and a grill and all the other amenities that we need for the stay which made it really easy for us to set up camp and everybody had a great time. The horses are really beautiful, and the grounds are really beautiful. Would definitely recommend for a family or for a group event.

2 nights at Glamping with the Wild Horses

We loved Wild Ride and MacKenzie was a wonderful host. She was very accommodating and welcoming and we loved learning about the gentling process there, being able to observe her teen gentling class and participate in afternoon feed bags. We did the VIP tour and loved it. The domes are pretty close to each other but we were the only ones there at the time so can't comment on how it would be with others next door. They were comfy and nicely decorated with chargers. It was very cool to wake up to find the herd right near the campsites feeding and observe them. I don't think I would stay again during the winter - or at least would do it differently. The dome was nice and warm with the woodburning stove going but the stove in there was so small we had to feed it every 2 hours so didn't get much sleep. But when MacKenzie heard that she offered to switch us into another dome with a larger woodburning stove and seemed inclined to upgrade the size of that stove in the future for winter camping. There is no running water in the winter season which makes cooking challenging. There is just a cooler there as a hand-washing station but no way to even get water to have a safety bucket by the fire. We would come back readily in the summer but if we were going to camp in the winter we would instead just plan on going out for meals as cooking with the winter setup was hard. Overall a great stay, a unique experience and a great mother-daughter bonding trip! Thanks so much MacKenzie.

Weekend Trip to Glamping with the Wild Horses

I definitely recommend the dome! The hospitality was excellent. We had our son with us, and they were wonderful with him—they even let him feed the horses, which he loved. The hiking was beautiful, and one of the best parts was how close the horses were to the dome—you can literally see them right nearby. The only thing we were a little disappointed about was that the dome wasn’t lit up at night like the photo on the page shows. We were really looking forward to seeing it all colorful and glowing. Overall, it was a great experience and we truly enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time at Hilltop Tree Farm! Blake made sure we had everything we needed, and we had a fun exploring the camping area and the surrounding town. Seeing the bees was a huge plus, and we would love to stay again when we're in the area!

About

This city was once the whaling capital of the world in the early and mid-1800s. This 34-acre site includes four museums, 13 city blocks and a varied cast of characters.

The museums delve into New Bedford's rich whaling history. Although it's a relic of the past, whaling was a vast industry here. Imagine tall ships coming into port laden with blubber and whale meat. Whale oil was used to light lamps. Other portions became perfume. Of course, those practices are unheard of today.

Inside the New Bedford Whaling Museum sits the largest model ship in existence. It's half-scale, but it still looks pretty big. The Lagoda is 89 feet long and it dominates the main gallery of the museum. The ship looks ready to sail.

Abolitionist Frederick Douglass found his voice here after he became a free man. Paul Cuffe was a darn good sea captain. In his heyday, he was probably the wealthiest African-American in the country.

Start at the visitor's center to pick up a map for your tour. A 20-minute video orients you to the area. Then, it's time to hit the cobblestone streets to take in some history.
