This place was awesome. I canât even say enough good things about it. The hosts are some of the nicest people Iâve ever met. They make sure youâre comfortable and keep you informed on anything going on around there. Made sure the fires were going when we got there and everything was really clean. Not one complaint. It is my ideal outdoors spot and I will be keeping this information for the future and to share with others.
They set the bar high I donât see any others being like this. 10/10

Rustic Log Cabin on Edge of Woods
We loved our stay at Mac and Ann's place! Our goal was to hike some of the NCT but Mother Nature iced us in so we ended up staying at the cabin drinking beer and putting a puzzle together. We have a fantastic stay and the woodstove kept us very cozy. We would definitely stay there again no matter what the weather.

Mac & Ann were once again amazing hosts. They have an incredible property with all the amenities. Adrian the cat is the BEST and will keep you company during your stay. Mac recommended we check out the Jerome Country Market on our way out: best brisket Iâve had. We canât wait to come back!

I enjoyed the fire pit and the rustic cabin were great!
The start of the fall colors was great to enjoy and the wildlife as well. Would definitely recommend if looking to get away from it all.

Gorgeous place with so many gorgeous trails to follow. Mack and Ann were helpful and friendly. We had an amazing time. Take the time to enjoy and wonder at all the fine hand craftsmanship that has gone into every inch of this property. I am greatful Ann and Mack allow sharing of their piece of heaven.

This is one of only a few Hipcamp sites I've been to that is really, truly private -- you are far enough out on the trail that you see no other people or structures. It is also far enough away from roads that you hear zero traffic. You are left completely alone to enjoy the space, and that's how I prefer it. I'm a solo female camper and felt totally safe and at home. It's rustic yet with conveniences -- the composting toilet is easy to use and a relief to have close by, and the campfire area is set up so you can quickly get a fire going to enjoy. As other reviewers have noted, the hosts really do everything they can to make your arrival, stay, and departure as easy going as possible.
Just a few things to note while you plan your getaway: Cell service can be spotty in the area (at least it was for me -- my carrier is T-Mobile), so if you use something like Google Maps to get around, be sure to download a map of the area to use offline when you need it. The mattress included in the tiny cabin is a sleeping pad that is vinyl covering a basic, spongy kind of foam that compresses quite a bit under pressure -- I suggest bringing your own if you need more than an inch of cushion, and don't forget to bring any bedding you'll need for your stay. And the usual common sense stuff. Reach out to the hosts if you have any questions -- they are very responsive.

I had a great time staying in the tiny cabin during a 25 mile hike on the North Country Trail, and Ann truly went above and beyond helping me get back to my car after I finished the hike. You couldn't ask for better hosts!

This sweet little gem in the woods is perfect for a rustic getaway. Truly a place of peace + calm + connection. The hand-built cabin is so impressive and inspiring and has the bare essentials youâll need for a great stay. Ann + Mac are the best hosts as well as their crew up pups, chickens and wildlife. If youâre worried about the composting toilet, please donât. Everything is clean and inviting. Sustainability using sawdust is how you can think of it. The walking paths are magical as well as the river that runs through the property. Dip your toes or take a drift. All things about this stay was wonderful. We will be back đ

What a lovely weekend at the cabin! Ann and Tim were wonderful hosts! We had chilly spring weather but it was so cozy in the cabin with the stove or out at the fire pit. We wanted a rustic feel but also protection from extreme elements and this fit the bill perfectly! We cooked meals over the fire pit and on the stove. Tim suggested the Lost Nations trail for hiking and it did not disappoint! We loved visits from the dogs, listening to the bird's chatter each morning and the peace & calm of being away. We definitely recommend this site.

My husband and I stayed in the tiny cabin on Ann's property for a night away from the lights and noise. Ann met us at the parking spot to walk us down to the site and she thoroughly explained things about the property and our site. Mac met us at the parking spot and hauled our equipment down to the site for us on his ATV, he even started our campfire for us on arrival since the weather was on the chilly side. They showed us how the compost toilets worked. Left us t.p and paperbags it. They brought us down a big jug of well water for us to use as well as fresh eggs. The cabin was clean with no webs or dirt, a basic single mat and a prep space. We knew it would be primitive and cold (32 degrees was the lowest) we brought several blankets and put the mat on the floor to snuggle up for the night. The dogs were sweet and we got to pet a cat that came up to us. We walked the trails and saw a blue pheasant. The site was very secluded feeling and we got a great view of some stars and the moon. We let Ann know when we getting ready to leave and Mac came down to haul our equipment back to our car, we even got a dozen eggs when we were leaving. Very lovely property and an awesome couple. A cute quiet stay if you don't mind no running water or electricity. We will definitely be going back to try the larger cabin and bringing the kids along.

The log cabin was PERFECT for what my group was looking for on our trip to Michigan: cozy, comfortable, and private! The wood-burning stove kept us warm and even cooked up some pretty great chili to boot!
Rick & Ann are beyond amazing hosts. When I let them know we would be arriving pretty late, they waited up to welcome us to a warm cabin and even had music playing on the radio! You can tell they really put a lot of thought and effort into their guestâs needs.
We loved our stay at the log cabin so much, weâre already making excuses to go back!!

My son and I had a great time. Ann and Mac were awesome hosts. Beautiful area! Cabin was perfect, along with the weather. We spent 2 nights. The outdoor campfire was very peaceful. My son and I sat and did devotionals. Will definitely come back and would recommend to everyone!

The PERFECT weekend getaway! Ann and Mac were amazing hosts and made sure their guests wanted for nothing! I will definitely be back!
When they say the roosters are part of the package, they aren't kidding. Fortunately for us, we were up, cooking and enjoying the scenery before the rooster's wake up call,so we enjoyed it!
Again; fortunately I know how to cook with and clean cast iron cookwear when camping and found cooking on the cast-iron stove a treat. If you don't know how, read how or plan on cooking over the fire.
I loved the hiking trails. I can only imagine how beautiful they must be in the winter.
I don't have enough words to express how perfect the weekend was.

Tiny Cabin/Encased Sleeper in Woods
Our stay was amazing! They greeted us when we arrived, had a fire going, and provided us with a delicious watermelon straight from the garden! The cabin was small and fit me plus my dog and the sleepers were spacious enough for other friends. I would recommend!

Great time, great people! Ann and Mac were the kind of people you want to know! Very down to earth and attentive to the needs of their guests. The cabin was perfect. Finely crafted with numerous details and extra touches. Many games to play and a large variety of interesting books/guides to read.
It was clean and private. Trails to hike right outside the door, clean river to swim/kayak/fish. Ann brought us farm fresh eggs and Mac made sure our wood pile stayed stocked for fires. Our 2 year old granddaughter referred to them as family and that is how they made us feel!

Mac and Ann were SO welcoming, helpful, and responsive. The cabin is beautiful and comfortable. Outhouse was clean and pleasant to use, as outhouses go! They supplied us with firewood, helped us haul our stuff. So many miles of beautiful trails on their property, so many birds and wildlife (we saw a fawn by the creek!) The location feels very isolated, and peaceful. Their listing is clear about being in the country with bugs and critters, which is a reality. We came back refreshed and I would definitely go again!

We had a lovely stay at Ann and Mac's. I had some trouble making a reservation but Ann was quick to respond to messages. Mac met us when we arrived and was very friendly and welcoming, he'd even started a fire at the campsite! Would definitely recommend, the land is beautiful.
