We bought this property in 2012 and have built several buildings and forged paths throughout the 32 acres. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota. While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. In the middle of the woods, we created a campground to be enjoyed by hikers and on the North side of our property is a tree line between two fields that is a great small camper/tent camping spot.

Rustic Log Cabin on Edge of Woods
100% (44)
Cabin ¡ Sleeps 4
Log Cabin nestled on edge of woods, along the St. Joseph River and the North Country Trail. Peaceful area. Limited to 4 campers. The cabin is 12 x 20 with a futon and a loft above with two single beds. Linens NOT provided. Cabin has a wood burning stove. Cast iron cookware provided and some non-disposable plates, mugs, silverware and cooking utensils. Outside grill (bring your own charcoal) and fire ring with cooking grate. Electricity provided for the three lights, mini fridge and microwave. Parking is 250 feet from the cabin, we have wagon available to assist in transporting personal items. There is plenty of wildlife to watch. Deer frequent the area along with all wildlife you would typically see in parks. It is country dark, which makes an amazing view on the clear nights and full moons. Very relaxing. Walking paths through the 33 acres of woods and field. During wet seasons, the lower trails will be flooded and/or muddy. Our dirt road is part of the North Country Trail, which is over 4,600 miles of trail. There are other hiking areas in the area to include Lost Nations. The St. Joseph River is on the property which is a 2 minute walk from the cabin. The river can be kayaked however, trees fall creating obstacles & can be shallow when it hasn't rained. This river is very scenic from Jonesville to Litchfield and extremely secluded, it is a hidden gem. We have kayaks and for a fee we will transport. Like shopping? Antique shops within 15 minutes. There are many food markets in the area and if our hens are laying you may get some farm fresh eggs. Mosquitos and bugs are included. When it is not winter, bring bug spray. Stink bugs are a plenty we do our best to sweep them out before you arrive. STINK BUGS are abundant this year (2025), there is no stopping them. In the summer, the loft of the cabin is very uncomfortable when temperatures are high. Winter can get very cold. If <20ďšž, the wood burning stove must feed every couple hours to keep the cabin warm. Firewood is provided. This is the only heat source for the cabin. Snow and ice happen, be ready. Campers, ensure you are ready for this before booking.
