Relax and enjoy the privacy and beauty of our 10-acre secluded property. The property is a mowed, open grass field surrounded by forest and an adjacent pond. Camp sites have a view of an eagle's nest and our six-hole frisbee golf course. Frisbees are provided and only campers and the residents use the course. Camp sites include a raised 12' by 12' tent pad, picnic table, space for one or two vehicles that can be parked near the forest or in the field, and use of a porta-potty (cleaned regularly and pumped out weekly). Potable water is located from a spigot in the pasture. Choose from three camp sites: Eagle Eyrie, Owl Hollow, or Hawk Nest. Sites are roomy enough for RV campers and ideal for a private Pacific Northwest getaway. Our property is in close proximity to downtown Bellingham and downtown Ferndale (only 5 miles north or south) and all the delicious restaurants, live music, and parks they provide; but is nestled into a pastoral refuge. Seattle is 1.5 hours south and Vancouver is 1 hour north. Free water and sewer dump are available at the Lummi Market, within one mile of the house. Property owners, Kim & Jeff, live onsite if you have questions or need anything; however the camp sites are tucked away such that the camping area is entirely separate. Property is accessed down a long gravel driveway on the east side of Rural Avenue, just across the street from a log cabin/house. A yellow "Rural Rodeo" sign is located below the mailboxes adjacent to our driveway. Please keep an eye out for our address #, as some of the mapping systems have you drive past our driveway. The driveway extends past a large barn. Keep right on the driveway at the "Y", then take another right to follow the yellow chip road along the side of our arena toward the camp sites.

Maple Creek Meadow

6. Maple Creek Meadow

Maple Falls, WA · 1 site
Drive down this shaded two-track road through the forest, cross the bridge over Maple Creek, and emerge into a meadow surrounded by woods. A hand-crafted tiny house is on your right, and a camping area is ahead of you, where you may choose the spot you like for your tent or rig. To get there: In Maple Falls turn Left on Silver Lake Road. In 2 miles, turn right onto Independence Lane, then shortly after, at the T, turn right again onto Full Moon Way. After the second house on the left, keep going a short distance, following the Maple Creek Meadow signs, turning Left onto the good two-track road to the Meadow. It's about 800 feet, (passing a small building where water is available at a hydrant). The road crosses a bridge over the Creek, and leads into the clearing. You will see the tiny house on your right, with its woodshed, and, looking to the left, an accessory building (The Tool Shed), where the composting toilet is located, along with a place to hang your sun shower (provided). If you are renting the Tiny House, you my park directly behind it. There are two picnic tables which may be used for cooking, eating, and washing dishes. The open meadow has room for two or three tent and camper sites. Just upstream from the bridge is a beaver pond, the beavers often busy though seldom seen. There is a trail to the pond, which is a good place to view bird life and hear frogs sing. The vegetation includes many large Sitka Spruce, Red Cedar, and Bigleaf Maple trees with their common understory plants, which now include trilliums, bleeding heart, and the less-loved stinging nettles. Two miles north from my place, on Silver Lake Road, is Silver Lake Park, a lovely large County park that offers swimming, fishing, trails, and small boat rentals. Two miles to the south is the community of Maple Falls, with its own trail network as well as shopping for groceries, hardware, treats for your pet, local art, and as of this writing, a food truck. Maple Falls is the second to the last town heading east on Mount Baker Highway, which ends at Artist Point in the heart of the mountains. Many hiking trails are to be found in the area along the highway. Maple Falls Visitor Center is a good place to get info on the endless attractions available.

Sedro Woolley, WA · 4 sites · Tents, RVs
Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

Our 28 acres are located in between Maple Falls and Glacier, Wa, directly on Mt Baker Hwy on the way to Beautiful Mt Baker. Ben and Tyne run a chemical free farm, on which we raise 7 and 1/2 acres of veggie and flower. 15 acres of pastureland on which we raise pasture raised chicken, as well as biannual lamb and beef. The remainder of our land is breathtaking Pacific Northwest forest that is boarded by the Bay to Baker trail. Our campsites range between walk in wooded sites, and car camping sites that are open field sites next to the tree line. We provide wagons in our cart corral area to make it more convenient for the very short walk in. ( no more then a 200 foot walk in) We have a very nice composting outhouse and hand-washing station. We do not have water for drinking or a dishwashing sink, but if you are in a pinch just ask Ben or Tyne and we can help you out. We want all of our campers happy, comfy, and to have the best time here. :) We have a beautiful cedar grove to enjoy for lounging and picnics. The Bay to Baker trail borders our property, so it is just steps away and includes a 45 min round walk to a quaint little waterfall (maple falls). As well as a nature loop trail. You can also walk the other direction on the trail over a boardwalk. This direction walks along the back of the farm and allows you to see the veggie fields from a distance. Yofu can continue on the bay to baker trail for a nice walk. There is a conservation area, just a quarter mile drive down the road. With access to the Nooksack river, that includes several nice swimming spots and a couple nice walking trials. Silver Lake is just 3.8 miles away. It has a great recreation area, fun for the whole family. Just a heads up , you will probably lose service on your drive up here. But you will get service back when you are here. We suggest putting the map in your phone before you leave. Google maps will take you just past the farm, and apple maps will stop you too soon. So you are looking for the large kragnes family farms sign in the driveway. pull in and follow the camping signs to the back.

Be among the first to hang out in a quiet corner of a 35-acre forest in Van Zandt, a “blink-and-you’ll miss it” town along the picturesque Highway 9. This area is a common shortcut for people coming from Seattle or other points South on their way to Mt Baker. Hippie Forest has two campsites, with a third on the way. Both sites have a fire pit, a level place to pitch a tent, and space for parking two cars/vans (but no big RVs). A basic outhouse serves both campsites. The sites are far enough apart that they offer privacy, but close enough that groups can hang out together with a very short walk. The real joy in Hippie Forest is the tall trees, the distant sound of a train, the birds and other critters, and so much green it will make your eyes hurt. There are also a few trails to explore, and nice neighbors to meet. The South Fork of the Nooksack River is 5 minutes away. It’s a great place to cool off on a hot Summer day. Mt. Baker is 45 minutes to the East. Bellingham, with a pretty solid nightlife, is 20 minutes West. Vancouver and Seattle are 90 minutes away, and there are dozens of cool towns, parks and hiking spots in every direction. These campsites are a great for a small fire and quiet conversation (not a rager around a huge bonfire). They offer safe harbor, a jumping off point, and a natural spectacle.

A short two and a half minute trail walk with two sets of stairs (see photos) brings you to this little gazebo nestled high at the water’s edge. Secluded in nature, it provides a quiet escape with sweeping views of Mt. Baker, Portage Island and Bellingham Bay. It's the perfect backdrop for deep breathing, quiet reflection, and slowing down. Welcome to Lummi Island. Lummi Island is one of many islands that make up the San Juans. Home of a little under 1000 permanent residents, it is one of the easiest assessable islands as it has a regular ferry that runs daily, on the hour every hour from roughly 6am-midnight. On the Island there is a restaurant, a convenience store, farmers markets in the summer months, farm stands, artist tours and a delicious coffee cart most Thursday-Sundays. There are multiple public beaches, and this particular spot is part of the "Scenic Estates" which offers additional amenities including a swimming lake, playground, marina and boat launch all assessable within a 3 minute drive. The gazebo is a truly unique camping experience. There is a potty tent with a portable toilet. Please pack in and out all things. There is an option to rent a propane tank with a fire pit for an additional charge, but we ask no recreational fires as there is no water access at the gazebo. This property does have neighbors, but is pretty private. Please be respectful of them as well as Mother Nature. The outdoors await!
