Mamas River Getaway #2
We stayed at site #2 and loved it! It was private with close access to the river. Beautiful river space to hang out and walk/wade, and the Hipcamp is set up with a fire pit and picnic table which makes for very convenient hangout spot. We will definitely be back soon!

Tent and van camping was awesome! There is a nice raised pad for one good size tent or two smaller ones which was perfect for a wet fall camp. Great directions, and signs. Trail access to the river was really cool, with all the fall rain the river was raging. We will definitely call here again.

Mamas Garden River Getaway
This was an unexpected and awesome experience. We were traveling down from Canada and campgrounds were full due to holiday weekend. Mama’s Garden came up on Hip Camp and I would go out of my way to avoid the parks and stay here again. Secluded, short hike to a river, firewood waiting for us and a chance to enjoy fresh vegetables, fruits and eggs from the roadside stand. PERFECT.

We absolutely LOVED tent camping at Mama's!!! It's incredibly private and was totally safe for our two dogs to be off leash the entire time, around the site and at the river. The river access is assessable via an easy trail thru the woods. We tied ropes to intertubes so our kiddos could have fun in the currents without floating too far in the gentle current. Endless fun! River shoes were perfect on the rocky beach. Unbelievably beautiful location. We are so excited to return!!!

Loved the isolation. Close to the river was nice on a warm day. Thank you for the firewood bundle and included kindling. Port-a-potty was really nice and clean, could’ve used some hand sanitizer. Dog loved it, he was off leash the whole time.

Great site!
The site is private and clean.
Like it says, it is on a farm so expect farm smells. The walk to the river is easy and my dog and I loved it.
The site is thoughfully laid out and the ports potty was pristine.
I will be back.

This private campsite was delightful. Our prepaid firewood was there waiting when we arrived. Matthew came by briefly to check that everything was satisfactory. The porta potty was very clean, and the view from the campsite was lovely. We brought chairs, etc to the river and felt safe leaving them there as we came and went during the weekend. No one else in sight ... probably because the water was pretty low. We had a wonderful time and, yes, I recommend Mama's Garden campsite 👍🏻😊

Second time back to the site and it’s just as good as I remember! Privacy, beautiful views of the Twin Sisters, river access, clean portopotty, afternoon shade, a garbage can and fire pit provided.. you really cannot go wrong!

Mamas Garden River Getaway
I've been here at least 3 times now and will keep coming back. The sunset light turns the twin sisters purple. We hear cayotes at night. We swim in the river all day. We love the shade of the huge maples. And, before heading home, I load up on produce and maple syrup and chocolate hazelnut butter from the farm stand. Next year, I have to book earlier in the season so I can nab a weekend. This place is getting popular, and rightly so. It's a treasure.

Mamas Garden River Getaway
Pros: Quiet, private, and near the river. That whole valley is gorgeous. Overall very beautiful place. The host was responsive and helpful. Clean portapotty. Nice fire pit. Well made little tent site with sand base. I can tell they care about keeping a nice site. I'd give it 4/5 stars.
Cons: It is directly adjacent to a corn field and they were irrigating it with some kind of green water (fertilizer/additive? Algae in water source?) I don't fault them working their farm however they choose, but I wasn't crazy about the spray possibly drifting onto us. It's also pretty smelly from the cows. Again nothing wrong with that, it is a farm after all, but just know that it's there.
Overall: We spent most of our stay at the river and really enjoyed our time. Peaceful and secluded!

We loved staying here and will be back! It's so private and serene with the perfect set up for a small group and dogs. We really enjoyed the view of the mountains and the walk to the river. Highly recommend!!

we spent two nights here with our dog and loved our little escape! the site was easy to find, had a clean porta potty and a bag was already in the garbage can.
the site gets morning sun and the tent felt hot early in the morning, but by 1 ish it was in the shade and started to cool down fast.
we found the perfect spot to hang our hammock.
the site felt pretty open and exposed right off the gravel path, and we were worried someone would walk or drive past but we didn’t see anybody our a entire stay which was perfect!
we stayed at the end of july - a few mosquitoes is to be expected so all was fine there with some bug spray, but the horse flies!!!! we couldn’t spend much time at the river because of how aggressive and persistent the horse flies were.
the coyotes were also extremely active at night which spooked me the first night but we were used to it the second night. thankfully our dog didn’t react or seem to care, but if you’re new to camping with your dog (like us!) this is something to keep in mind that we hadn’t considered.
it would be nice if the site felt a little more private to the gravel road/driveway and was larger to accommodate groups, but was perfect for the 2 of us😊
overall we had a really great stay and plan to be back - thank you!

Mamas Garden River Getaway
This site was perfect for us. It was nice and shady, had a great view of the mountains behind the large cornfield. The porta-potty was the cleanest I've ever seen. It's close to the highway so occasionally you can hear engine noises etc. but you cannot beat the river access. It was lovely to spend a hot afternoon cooling off by the water. Occasionally some cars drove by and we had one person walk by the site early in the morning, but secluded otherwise. We have a reactive dog and not having other camp sites around made for a peaceful and stress-free trip. We'll absolutely be back.

We had a lovely couple days here! We couldn’t believe the beautiful views and river access, where we had a great time wading and playing. We went to a county park nearby for a nice 2.5 mile trail walk but mostly hung around the campsite- reading, having a firepit, and hanging out together. Will be back again for sure!

Matthew’s HipCamp at Mama’s Garden was a wonderful stay. The port-a-potty was clean and the site was well maintained. We enjoyed the view of the north cascades and farm.

Beautiful! Nice and private, there were a couple different times that people came through, but weren't any bother at all. My only disappointment is that the "swimming hole" really isn't one anymore because it's all clogged up with trees and sand and rocks...but you can tell it used
to be nice, maybe they'll get back there at some point and clear that stuff out. We are totally looking forward to next time regardless! It was great for my dogs to have freedom without running into other dogs!!! What a blessing to camp here! Thank you. Lots of room for 6 of us and dogs!

Mamas Garden River Getaway
We love Mamma's Garden Hip Camp. This is the best way for a mom and two kids to camp safely on the Nooksack. I used to camp in the upper wilderness of the south fork above Saxon Rd. But that's just not safe with two little kids anymore (Bears and Cougars). So we LOVE this Hip Camp in a safer region. Please don't book up the calendar! This year it got harder to find an open spot in their calendar because the word is getting out how great this spot is. I guess next year, I'll have to book my summer dates in January! PS - This year we bought some of their maple syrup. It's heavenly and worth the price tag. We pour it over vanilla icecream.

Mamas Garden River Getaway
This is my 2nd time staying at Matthew's site, and it was a wonderful experience yet again. Very peaceful, and great for bird watching. A short little stroll down one of the many maintained paths leads you right down to the river, where you can sit or enjoy a nice walk. Can't wait to return!

Had a great little trip out here during the week with the pups! Really enjoyed the privacy of the spot. Super easy to get to, didn’t even realize we had driven by this a million times on our way out to the mountains in the past. The river is absolutely beautiful and so much fun to walk along. Really enjoyed our time spent here and looking forward to visiting in the future.

Mama’s Garden is now my most loved Hipcamp. The property is gorgeous, private, and very well organized. The camp spot is spacious and just a short stroll through the trees to the river bed. We are excited to go back in the warmer months!
