We strive to provide a place to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature, so it's not a place to party or have music loud enough for neighbours to hear.
Nestled in the heart of the Tamihi Recreational Area, just 20 minutes from town, our property offers a rare blend of seclusion and adventure. Surrounded on three sides by lush, moss-draped forest and bordered on the fourth by the stunning Chilliwack River, it’s a true nature lover’s paradise.
Enjoy a spacious riverside beach, great for swimming during the summer and fall as well a world-class fishing. The area features Class I–IV rapids for whitewater kayaking, with Chilliwack River Rafting just 5 or so minutes away. You can ATV right out of our gate onto unlimited logging roads and trails or hike the Trans Canada Trail 3 blocks from our gate.
There isn't river access at the sites. The stairs to the beach are through the picnic shelter. There is a light wire fence along the river in riverfront sites for protection due to a drop-off and undercut banks.
ATV's are idle in - idle out.
QUIET, well-mannered, leashed pets are welcome if you pick up after them and not leave them unattended.
LONG WEEKENDS are a minimum of 3 nights.
CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times!
FIREWOOD is $9. for a large feed bag full and is available between 9 AM and 8 PM.
WATER: We do have a non-potable water tap in the park. I'm not allowed to say that the water at the waterfall/creek is good water - so I won't.
BEEF and EGGS: We have grass-fed Black Angus beef jerky for sale (this cow was treated as a pet until her time & was dispatched on the farm to avoid stress). We occasionally have eggs from our pastured chickens.
Our free-range kind, gentle horses also wander the property. Any interactions with them are at your own risk! The gate must be kept closed because of them.

Our 28 acres are located in between Maple Falls and Glacier, Wa, directly on Mt Baker Hwy on the way to Beautiful Mt Baker.
Ben and Tyne run a chemical free farm, on which we raise 7 and 1/2 acres of veggie and flower. 15 acres of pastureland on which we raise pasture raised chicken, as well as biannual lamb and beef.
The remainder of our land is breathtaking Pacific Northwest forest that is boarded by the Bay to Baker trail.
Our campsites range between walk in wooded sites, and car camping sites that are open field sites next to the tree line. We provide wagons in our cart corral area to make it more convenient for the very short walk in. ( no more then a 200 foot walk in)
We have a very nice composting outhouse and hand-washing station. We do not have water for drinking or a dishwashing sink, but if you are in a pinch just ask Ben or Tyne and we can help you out.
We want all of our campers happy, comfy, and to have the best time here. :)
We have a beautiful cedar grove to enjoy for lounging and picnics. The Bay to Baker trail borders our property, so it is just steps away and includes a 45 min round walk to a quaint little waterfall (maple falls). As well as a nature loop trail. You can also walk the other direction on the trail over a boardwalk. This direction walks along the back of the farm and allows you to see the veggie fields from a distance. Yofu can continue on the bay to baker trail for a nice walk.
There is a conservation area, just a quarter mile drive down the road. With access to the Nooksack river, that includes several nice swimming spots and a couple nice walking trials.
Silver Lake is just 3.8 miles away. It has a great recreation area, fun for the whole family.
Just a heads up , you will probably lose service on your drive up here. But you will get service back when you are here.
We suggest putting the map in your phone before you leave. Google maps will take you just past the farm, and apple maps will stop you too soon.

Camp sites have a view of an eagle's nest and our six-hole frisbee golf course. Frisbees are provided and only campers and the residents use the course.
Camp sites include a raised 12' by 12' tent pad, picnic table, space for one or two vehicles that can be parked near the forest or in the field, and use of a porta-potty (cleaned regularly and pumped out weekly). Potable water is located from a spigot in the pasture.
Choose from three camp sites: Eagle Eyrie, Owl Hollow, or Hawk Nest. Sites are roomy enough for RV campers and ideal for a private Pacific Northwest getaway.
Our property is in close proximity to downtown Bellingham and downtown Ferndale (only 5 miles north or south) and all the delicious restaurants, live music, and parks they provide; but is nestled into a pastoral refuge. Seattle is 1.5 hours south and Vancouver is 1 hour north.
Free water and sewer dump are available at the Lummi Market, within one mile of the house.
Property owners, Kim & Jeff, live onsite if you have questions or need anything; however the camp sites are tucked away such that the camping area is entirely separate.
Property is accessed down a long gravel driveway on the east side of Rural Avenue, just across the street from a log cabin/house. A yellow "Rural Rodeo" sign is located below the mailboxes adjacent to our driveway. Please keep an eye out for our address #, as some of the mapping systems have you drive past our driveway. The driveway extends past a large barn. Keep right on the driveway at the "Y", then take another right to follow the yellow chip road along the side of our arena toward the camp sites.

Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way
to the Salish Sea.
This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years.
Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle.
Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

Be among the first to hang out in a quiet corner of a 35-acre forest in Van Zandt, a “blink-and-you’ll miss it” town along the picturesque Highway 9. This area is a common shortcut for people coming from Seattle or other points South on their way to Mt Baker.
Hippie Forest has three campsites, each with a fire pit, a level place to pitch a tent, and space for parking one or two cars/vans (but no big RVs). A basic outhouse serves all three campsites. The sites are far enough apart that they offer privacy, but close enough that groups can hang out together with a very short walk. The sites are affordable because we believe camping out in nature shouldn't break the bank.
The real joy in Hippie Forest is the tall trees, the distant sound of a train, the birds and other critters, and so much green it will make your eyes hurt. There are also a few trails to explore, and nice neighbors to meet.
The South Fork of the Nooksack River is 5 minutes away. It’s a great place to cool off on a hot Summer day. Mt. Baker is 45 minutes to the East. Bellingham, with a pretty solid nightlife, is 20 minutes West. Vancouver and Seattle are 90 minutes away, and there are dozens of cool towns, parks and hiking spots in every direction.
These campsites are a great for a small fire and quiet conversation (not a rager around a huge bonfire). They offer safe harbor, a jumping off point, and a natural spectacle.

There is no restroom facility so campers MUST have an RV with a toilet. Sorry, no tents or car camping. Only one RV at a time is scheduled, unless guests are traveling together, so you’ll have plenty of privacy! (More than two people are welcome.) The huge graveled area makes turning around super easy, and there’s a pretty view to the west over a grassy field toward the sunset and a partial view of Mount Baker to the east. The barn is picturesque, though there are no animals on the property except for two indoor cats.
The RV site has water from the faucet outside of the barn via a 100-foot white drinking water hose. There is a new 30 amp RV style electrical hookup, and a 20 amp household style plug-in located on the side of the barn. Electricity is an additional $5 per night paid in advance. There is a 100 foot heavy duty extension cord available. Benson Road is narrow with a deep ditch, so it isn’t suitable for walking or biking, but traffic noise is minimal. The property sits directly across from the Lynden airport. While planes rarely take off or land here, it’s fun to watch when they glide in to land. On most days you might see three planes, with a few more on Sunday afternoons when people return home.
The property is a flat 1,500 feet long, making it great for walking. It’s also a wonderful spot for dogs to run and play, though since it’s within Lynden city limits, dogs must remain under immediate control or on a leash. Quiet time is strictly observed at 9 p.m. A campfire area is available in the farmyard, with a charged hose required to be on hand. The owner will try to provide firewood and newspaper for starting fires, but availability isn’t guaranteed.
Conveniently located, the property is only a 4-minute drive from charming, flower-filled (in season) downtown Lynden and the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds, 6 minutes from the main grocery shopping area, and about 5 minutes from the Canadian border crossing.
It’s a 30-minute drive south to Bellingham, 30 minutes west to Birch Bay and other waterfront destinations, 1 hour 15 minutes to Anacortes (gateway to the San Juan Islands), and 1 hour 20 minutes east to the Picture Lake Viewpoint on Mt. Baker.

Site #1 has full hookup; water septic, and electric.
Site #2 with full hookups...water, septic, and electric and is shaded by some mature trees.
These are big enough sites to be a fun family or group camp sites. Pets are allowed but need to be on leash or under voice control as we do have quite a bit of daytime traffic. Nights are very quiet. We have a small goat farm (pygmy goats) next door which the children enjoy seeing.

This the third time that we have stayed there. Bonnie, the host, is easy-going and friendly. Surrounded by farm fields and four goats nearby. Birch Bay is a fun town with beaches, good restaurants, and bicycle lanes. We will be back.

This was the spot we needed just at the right time and place. We had been off grid since April and desperately needed to hook up to electric for a night to rebalance our batteries to improve solar recharge. Having water was also a huge luxury. Got a few loads of laundry done. Jordan was so kind and allowed us to check out late so my hubby could finish his work day. Highly recommend this quiet spot in the country.

If you want a well maintained, quiet, inexpensive spot with water and electricity provided, to park your camper or RV, this is the perfect spot. Plenty of room to maneuver into the spot and it was well marked when we arrived in the dead of night. It was still easy to find. Location is great if you’re going to Mt. Baker or Bellingham or even to Canada, as it’s only 20 minutes from the border crossing on I-5. I will always try to reserve this site in the future when visiting the area. Thanks for the hospitality, Mary Lou!

We stayed at The Doves on our way to Canada. It was great. We were able to easily ride our bikes into Birch Bay and enjoy some live music. Definitely recommend Bonnie’s spot.
Road noise, as mentioned, but didn’t bother us.

We loved being a guest in Mary Lou’s land. The site was just as described with a well-drained, flat area to camp. Everything was ready when we arrived and Mary Lou’s communication, hospitality, and local-area tips were excellent. We would love to return and stay again.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet of Jordy’s place. He has full hook-ups on a level, gravel pad. His place is easy to find. We loved riding bikes in the country and picking wild blackberries. The view of Mt. Baker is spectacular!

This was our first ever HipCamp stay and we really enjoyed not being in an RV park or a tight campground for a change, while still having full hookups and 50-amp power. We stayed for 11 nights. It was very quiet and peaceful both day and night. It’s so nice to have such a dog-friendly place to stay - we have 3 rascals and it was great having the large field they could explore off leash. As full time RVers this is fairly rare to have. Jordan and his wife were so friendly when we crossed paths, and when their cute baby boy smiled and waved at me from his little swing it just made my whole day. There is a lot to do in the area and this is the perfect place to base yourself.

My husband and I stayed one night in a 20 foot trailer. Mary Lou was an excellent communicator. Always responding promptly and answering any questions we had.
Her place was easy to find with the directions given.
Site was clean, level and easy to pull into and maneuver the trailer without obstructions.
It was nice that there was a table and chairs onsite and we could use it right away and not have to pull ours out of the truck.
The site was private, quiet and we felt safe. We enjoyed the sunset and we were also able to view a couple of small planes take off from the airfield across the way.
Hope to return in the future.

What an awesome spot! Easy to find, great hosts. Lisa was wonderful to chat with, her husband was busy with the farm chores so I only got to say good morning 😊 Well maintained and nicely manicured green grassy area to camp. Picnic tables + fire rings at every site. Hot tub fully surrounded by fencing for privacy. The pure Wagyu NY steak i purchased and grilled was mouth watering and i bought a couple more to bring home. Learned a lot about Wagyu beef as well. Cannot say enough good things about this camp. *I actually stayed in site #2, not #8. It was nice and shady both day and night and backs up toward one of the cottages they rent out with trees on one side and beautiful blooming hostas on the other side 😊
