Magic Mountain Camp Experience

The campsite is very close to the host’s house which made for a very uncomfortable stay. They claim to have a porta potty on site but when I asked them about it they said it was 3 miles away. Overall this was a very bad experience and I would not recommend anyone to it.

Positives: The camp site was amazing, beautiful and a very short walk from where we parked. The host was polite and responsive. We actually got to hear some wolfies, which was awesome. :) Negatives: The path to the camp site was a bit narrow, the parking spot was smaller than our truck, and the trail to the lake was overgrown and not passable. Overall: An amazingly relaxing weekend. Would absolutely camp here again.

Wouldn’t recommend this site or host. My three friends and I stayed here for two nights and we were unhappy with the experience. The site is very small, the ground is slanted, and it has large rocks which made it difficult to fit two tents. There was lots of noise including children playing, dogs barking/howling, and a truck doing work in the hosts driveway that woke us up one morning. The whole experience felt like camping in a friend’s backyard which was disappointing considering I paid a fair amount for it. When I contacted the host regarding the issues we had with the site and requested a full/partial refund, they ignored my message and denied the refund. Overall, I am upset about the experience and how the host handled my complaints.

Not what we were expecting. If you are planning on tent camping it would be a good spot as you can walk down a trail and have privacy. However, my wife and I car camp and the pictures don’t show you the trailer that is right there next to the site. When we arrived we were a little confused since we were not expecting the close proximity. I got out and knocked on the door to make sure I was In the right area and heard kids yelling and a woman telling the kids to be quiet. Knocked loud enough to be heard multiple times and never got an answer. We ended up just leaving and booking another spot as it just seemed a little odd

Beautiful place and well cleaned toilet and all the amenities you need! Lakes hard to get to cause the little docks all dilapidated which kinda sucked but it was a lot of fun and enjoyable.

The site was just as described and easy to locate. If you don't read the description you may be surprised that it is in someones front yard so it is not private at all. But if you are looking for somewhere to stay for a quick stop its perfect! It worked out great for my trip through Mt Baker area. The hosts are quick to respond and very helpful. It is reported that wifi is available but I was never able to connect which was not a necessity for me but cell service was minimal and you could not rely on the wifi if you were hoping to.

Great value for large private sites

Spacious private sites to kickback after exploring the Mt Baker region. spent 3 tranquil nights at the wilderness retreat site and had an overall great experience and value for money. Don’t be put off by the drive thru a housing development. Once you hit the gravel of the host’s property, it is lush green and lovely. Yes, you can hear some dogs barking and noise from the neighborhood but that is done by 830 at night and certainly not any more than you would experience at a state or county park. This is far better than a state/county park because these sites are very private. 30-40 steps through a narrow foot path to large clean sites with enough room for a couple tents and surrounded on all sides by trees. No one is checking out your site to see what gear or food you have to potentially steal or throwing an alcohol fueled bender that ends in a fistfight steps from your tent….(experienced all of that in the past at public camp sites). Firepit and picnic table at site and then clean porta potty and water spigot just a quick walk up the gravel drive. We heard owls, wood peckers on the evening and did not have any mosquitos bugging us. I checked out the songbird site which is even more private and if I come back up to this region would love to book it. This Hipcamp is well maintained and perfect for checking out Glacier, Mt Baker wilderness. We were able to hike Heliotrope Ridge, have dinner in Acme and back at camp for a fire one day and swim/paddle Baker Lake another. Thanks!

Place was exactly as described! Porta potty was the cleanest/best smelling one I’ve ever used lol. Just keep in mind it is a neighborhood, so some noise is to be expected. But overall would stay again!

A wonderful camping experience

This is a good area. There is a short trail to the camp site, so be prepared when carrying your gear. There is a clearing when you get to the site to set up your tent. Sadly, that place has a rock sticking out of it. It was pretty hard sleeping on it, we used a blow up mattress. I suggest buying a very thick mattress maybe a pad or two to cover the place where the was at. My back was not happy, but those are my problems. We tried moving our tent, to avoid the rock but the clearing is a bit slanted and you can definitely feel it. I would suggest setting up your tent where your heads are against the the slope(in the opposite direction away) not perpendicular or parallel . Me and my partner kept rolling down in our sleep. Overall very nice location, just a word of caution for those going there. Totally give this place a try, you just may need to set up your camp in a certain way to avoid some uncomfortable times.

We had to change our plans because of fires in NCNP. I was a little apprehensive about staying here. It was amazing. First of all, there was wifi, which was great. Second, the porta potty was spotless. It was much cleaner than any campground bathroom. Third, there were adorable chickens that were friendly. Fourth, the actual campsite was very private and adorable. Yes, it was a little bit of a walk from the car to the site, but that meant it was very private. We never really saw the other campers in the other two sites on the property. The site had cute lights. It was located about an hour from the ptarmigan ridge trail which was what we wanted so it was perfect, especially since we were booking last minute. The camp hosts were super nice and helpful. The potable water was delicious, clean, and cold. It was unusually hot when we camped there and the water felt really nice. 10/10. No complaints

Overall a great site. It was very slanted so be prepared to potentially sleep on a slant. We had 6 people but 4 tents and it was tight.

Alyssa’s place worked out great for us! Our small campervan fit perfectly in the campsite. The site had a picnic table, fire pit, porta potty and potable water! Her chickens roaming around were very friendly and so cute! Alyssa was very responsive to any questions we had.

Very private beautiful spot. The lake is very clear and pretty. It was clean as was the porta potty. Hosts were friendly and non intrusive. Having firewood and fresh eggs was a delightful addition.

Nice little camp site pretty secluded, close to Mt. Baker and other sites, host was extremely nice and helpful, bringing us wood and letting us used their rake and telling us about Silver lake so we could go paddle board. Alyssa’s instructions are pretty clear and easy to follow. There is a short walk from the car to the camp site, lots of stinging nettles surrounding the place as well as couple of tree roots. Be careful couple of screw’s tips are sticking out on the top of the wooden table. Neighbors from the houses in the back were a bit loud during the day and the first night. Overall good place to camp! Thank you!

Super Magical Forest Hideaway!

Absolutley loved this little forest wonderland. Such a magical place tucked up in the woods behind the neighborhood-- you'd never guess how deep-in-the-woods this site feels. Aside from some neighbors dogs barking, the site felt very secluded. There is a (beautiful) short walk from the parking spot at Songbird-- if you want a spot closer to your car, choose Wilderness. Both great options.

Hosts were very kind and even lent me a charger for my phone would highly recommend the spot is also pretty and very covered by trees and has soft ground making the campsite nice you can hear children playing from the neighborhood next to it so you don't have to feel entirely in the wild was also cool to hear wolves howling at night

This was my first hip camp experience and it was very easy and pleasant. The site feels very private, and was nice and shaded. I could hear the neighbors but it was nothing excessive, and I could not see anyone else. Would stay again for sure.

Overall we had a decent experience. They were houses nearby. You could not see them, but you could hear people talking dogs barking etc. Also cute sweet kids at the sight, they may randomly walk on your campsite and not say anything lol. Also the kids and gentlemen that was there would bring us wood which was very nice of them. Overall decent experience if you wanna explore the area cute little places to look at and the view in the area is was great. But if you are looking for very quiet/private this may not be the place you are looking for.

Hen and goat visitors at a quiet sp

We loved the couple of days we spent at magic mountain rest stop site in our 12’ trailer. We were tucked in beside the forest, looking out into the valley, with an open field across from us with plenty of sunshine. while the house was in sight we had plenty of privacy. The chickens and goat came over a couple of times a day to check us out. The two other sites were out of sight and quiet. The portapotty was clean and close by. (we actually commented on how good it smelled! Weird huh?) And even though it was really close to us we barely saw or heard the other parties coming it going, so the proximity was just a bonus. Overall it was very relaxing. The later than usual check out was a nice bonus too since we aren’t quick to get going in the mornings. Alyssa, Devon and their kids were friendly and welcoming, answered the questions we had and left us to our camping. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Songbird Retreat! The site is big and secluded. There's a super clean porta-potty at the parking area. Our host left firewood and eggs for us too! Perfect spot to explore Mt. Baker. We would definitely recommend!
