We strive to provide a place to enjoy the peace & quiet of nature, so it's not a place to party or have music loud enough for neighbours to hear.
Nestled in the heart of the Tamihi Recreational Area, just 20 minutes from town, our property offers a rare blend of seclusion and adventure. Surrounded on three sides by lush, moss-draped forest & bordered on the fourth by the stunning Chilliwack River, it’s a true nature lover’s paradise.
Enjoy a spacious riverside beach, great for swimming during the summer & fall & world-class fishing. The area features Class I–IV rapids for whitewater kayaking, with Chilliwack River Rafting just 5 or so minutes away. You can ATV right out of our gate onto unlimited logging roads and trails or hike the Trans Canada Trail 3 blocks from our gate.
There isn't river access at the sites. The stairs to the beach are through the picnic shelter. There is a light wire fence along the river in riverfront sites for protection due to a drop-off & undercut banks.
ATV's are idle in - idle out.
QUIET, well-mannered, leashed pets are welcome if you pick up after them and not leave them unattended.
LONG WEEKENDS are a minimum of 3 nights.
CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times!
FIREWOOD is $9. for a large feed bag full & is available between 9 AM and 8 PM.
BEEF and EGGS: We have grass-fed Black Angus beef jerky for sale (this cow was treated as a pet until her time & was dispatched on the farm to avoid stress). We occasionally have eggs from our pastured chickens.
Our free-range kind, gentle horses also wander the property. Any interactions with them are at your own risk! The gate must be kept closed because of them.

The Campsite has Kendall Creek on one side and the north fork of the of the Nooksack River on the other side. In the distance you can see White Mountain, Bald Mountain and Church Mountain. Fisherman will appreciate that the Kendall Fish Hatchery is a neighbor to our campsite and 3 C’s wedding and event venue is less than 1/4 mile away!
Some of the many activities you might enjoy while staying here are fishing, eagle watching, hiking, camp fires, stargazing, and just being in nature to rejuvenate and relax. There are also many things to do nearby! We are less than a quarter mile from the North Fork brewery and 3 C’s wedding and event venue. We are 45 minutes from the Mount Baker ski Lodge and 9 miles away from the town of glacier.

Rusty Ranch Tree Farm offers 110 acres of meadows and forest. Our location provides easy access to much of our local recreation options and is only 10 min east of Bellingham. The camp area is spacious and can easily accommodate your family and even a couple of friends. Scattered trees offer shade, and large grassy areas provide ample space to roam.

Hike the several miles of nature trails on the hillside and explore our 65 acres of certified forest. Placards on the nature trail are part of our self-guided tour and provide information about forestry and the plants and animals that call this their home. Wander through the old growth groves, walk the 50' boardwalk and see the magical Fern Ridge. There are abundant wildflowers and seasonal berries to pick, as well as a variety of fall apples and pears in the old orchard available for self harvest. You can even purchase a tree to take home and plant.
Other farm experiences include a guided interactive nature tour for your group, a class on making maple syrup, or experience farm life and "hang with the hens." We also offer the opportunity to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables brought to your site. A short 5-minute walk uphill leads you into a quiet forested sanctuary on 20 acres of private land. Experience being completely immersed in nature, yet just across the road from the beach and steps away from the interurban trail system that gives access to miles of exploring and trails.
Inside the cabin you will find a warm, cozy space designed for rest and simplicity.
This is an off-grid cabin that requires a peaceful 5-minute walk uphill through a private forest. We recommend that guests pack their belongings in backpacks to ensure an easeful experience.
Off-grid means that there is minimal electricity and no running water. There is an overhead light and a charging port for cell phones.
There is fresh filtered spring water from the land for drinking that has been tested and is exceptional. We are delighted to offer this gift from the land.
There is a double burner stove-top with a complementary tea, coffee, and miso soup station.
You are welcome to bring other varieties of soup.
We ask guests not to cook anything else in this space.
We provide restaurant and trail recommendations in our welcome binder in the cabin.
There is an outhouse with a composting toilet for use. There is hand sanitizer wipes available for hand washing.
Need a shower? Larabee State park is located 1 min away by car and there are public showers for use. Or rinse off in ocean!
We want the expectations of the experience to be very clear so that guests know what to expect.
This is an incredible sanctuary and we strive for simplicity.
You have full-use of the cabin and are free to explore the forest.
You are welcome to use the interurban trail which allows for hiking, biking, and walking down to the beach. Follow the trail 1.5 miles down to Clayton Beach OR access Wildcat Cove across the street (we recommend driving there).
Access Fragrance Lake Trail from the interurban trail about .5 miles away.
We are immersed amongst incredible trails on the Chuckanut Mountain.
Mountain bike? We are smack dab in the middle of mountain bike heaven.

Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way
to the Salish Sea.
This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years.
Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle.
Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

Our 28 acres are located in between Maple Falls and Glacier, Wa, directly on Mt Baker Hwy on the way to Beautiful Mt Baker.
Ben and Tyne run a chemical free farm, on which we raise 7 and 1/2 acres of veggie and flower. 15 acres of pastureland on which we raise pasture raised chicken, as well as biannual lamb and beef.
The remainder of our land is breathtaking Pacific Northwest forest that is boarded by the Bay to Baker trail.
Our campsites range between walk in wooded sites, and car camping sites that are open field sites next to the tree line. We provide wagons in our cart corral area to make it more convenient for the very short walk in. ( no more then a 200 foot walk in)
We have a very nice composting outhouse and hand-washing station. We do not have water for drinking or a dishwashing sink, but if you are in a pinch just ask Ben or Tyne and we can help you out.
We want all of our campers happy, comfy, and to have the best time here. :)
We have a beautiful cedar grove to enjoy for lounging and picnics. The Bay to Baker trail borders our property, so it is just steps away and includes a 45 min round walk to a quaint little waterfall (maple falls). As well as a nature loop trail. You can also walk the other direction on the trail over a boardwalk. This direction walks along the back of the farm and allows you to see the veggie fields from a distance. Yofu can continue on the bay to baker trail for a nice walk.
There is a conservation area, just a quarter mile drive down the road. With access to the Nooksack river, that includes several nice swimming spots and a couple nice walking trials.
Silver Lake is just 3.8 miles away. It has a great recreation area, fun for the whole family.
Just a heads up , you will probably lose service on your drive up here. But you will get service back when you are here.
We suggest putting the map in your phone before you leave. Google maps will take you just past the farm, and apple maps will stop you too soon.

Be among the first to hang out in a quiet corner of a 35-acre forest in Van Zandt, a “blink-and-you’ll miss it” town along the picturesque Highway 9. This area is a common shortcut for people coming from Seattle or other points South on their way to Mt Baker.
Hippie Forest has three campsites, each with a fire pit, a level place to pitch a tent, and space for parking one or two cars/vans (but no big RVs). A basic outhouse serves all three campsites. The sites are far enough apart that they offer privacy, but close enough that groups can hang out together with a very short walk. The sites are affordable because we believe camping out in nature shouldn't break the bank.
The real joy in Hippie Forest is the tall trees, the distant sound of a train, the birds and other critters, and so much green it will make your eyes hurt. There are also a few trails to explore, and nice neighbors to meet.
The South Fork of the Nooksack River is 5 minutes away. It’s a great place to cool off on a hot Summer day. Mt. Baker is 45 minutes to the East. Bellingham, with a pretty solid nightlife, is 20 minutes West. Vancouver and Seattle are 90 minutes away, and there are dozens of cool towns, parks and hiking spots in every direction.
These campsites are a great for a small fire and quiet conversation (not a rager around a huge bonfire). They offer safe harbor, a jumping off point, and a natural spectacle.

Relax and enjoy the privacy and beauty of our 10-acre secluded property. The property is a mowed, open grass field surrounded by forest and an adjacent pond. Camp sites have a view of an eagle's nest and our six-hole frisbee golf course. Frisbees are provided and only campers and the residents use the course.
Camp sites include a raised 12' by 12' tent pad, picnic table, space for one or two vehicles that can be parked near the forest or in the field, and use of a porta-potty (cleaned regularly and pumped out weekly). Potable water is located from a spigot in the pasture.
Choose from three camp sites: Eagle Eyrie, Owl Hollow, or Hawk Nest. Sites are roomy enough for RV campers and ideal for a private Pacific Northwest getaway.
Our property is in close proximity to downtown Bellingham and downtown Ferndale (only 5 miles north or south) and all the delicious restaurants, live music, and parks they provide; but is nestled into a pastoral refuge. Seattle is 1.5 hours south and Vancouver is 1 hour north.
Free water and sewer dump are available at the Lummi Market, within one mile of the house.
Property owners, Kim & Jeff, live onsite if you have questions or need anything; however the camp sites are tucked away such that the camping area is entirely separate.
Property is accessed down a long gravel driveway on the east side of Rural Avenue, just across the street from a log cabin/house. A yellow "Rural Rodeo" sign is located below the mailboxes adjacent to our driveway. Please keep an eye out for our address #, as some of the mapping systems have you drive past our driveway. The driveway extends past a large barn. Keep right on the driveway at the "Y", then take another right to follow the yellow chip road along the side of our arena toward the camp sites.

A large, quiet, and beautiful field in which to set up camp, central to many places in Whatcom County and easy to get to. Would totally recommend for a peaceful get-away. The river was stunning, but access was a bit of a challenge in that we had to wade through 8" of water at the bottom of the stairs (early July). Not a big deal for us, but could be for some. Awesome picnic table, fire rings and super clean outhouse. Thanks so much!

What an awesome spot! Easy to find, great hosts. Lisa was wonderful to chat with, her husband was busy with the farm chores so I only got to say good morning 😊 Well maintained and nicely manicured green grassy area to camp. Picnic tables + fire rings at every site. Hot tub fully surrounded by fencing for privacy. The pure Wagyu NY steak i purchased and grilled was mouth watering and i bought a couple more to bring home. Learned a lot about Wagyu beef as well. Cannot say enough good things about this camp. *I actually stayed in site #2, not #8. It was nice and shady both day and night and backs up toward one of the cottages they rent out with trees on one side and beautiful blooming hostas on the other side 😊

We had so much fun at the farm! Site 1 had plenty of room for myself, my husband and our dogs. We enjoyed staying in the woods and kept cool under the shade. We got to meet the hosts Tyne and Ben while they were making their nightly rounds and they were so friendly and hospitable. They also recommended local hikes and cool things to check out in the area. We stocked up our cooler with veggies from the farm on our way out and have been cooking them since we’ve been back home. So yummy! We would love to stay on the farm again. Thanks for having us!

Site 7 features beautiful scenic mountains as the backdrop to a soft grassy field with a picnic table and fire pit. Ben and Tyne were so kind took the time to make sure all the guests were comfortable over the busy fourth of July weekend. We hiked to Maple Falls right from the campground twice (under 3 miles round trip, easy hike mostly along the Bay to Baker trail). On the other side of the road, the best river spot for a dip in the freezing river is a quick drive a little closer to town, which was just up the road for grocery stores, cafe, and more. About 40 mins from the farm is Mt Baker National Forest which has some breathtaking views and was worth the drive out there to check it out!! At the campground there's no potable water, but we had a 1.5 gallon water filter, so we just used the creek water for dishes and any cleaning up needed at our site. Added bonus being able to enjoy delicious zucchinis and herbs and other veggies from their farm stand! Also, the campsite has a few well maintained campsites in the woods that we may consider for next time! What a wonderful little spot to camp. Camp sites were a good distance apart for privacy. Richard was super nice and helpful, made the rounds to make sure campers needs were fulfilled. I'd definitely return!

Zender camp was awesome. Host was very responsive. The site was great. Lots of space to set up and have activities. The porta potty onsite was very clean. Host Heather even came out and greeted us the next morning to ensure everything went well. Would recommend for sure.

So very welcoming to us, wonderful people! We meet a few of the full timers who were also so nice.
Beautiful views of the Bay and walk able to town. We had E bikes that worked well to get us the 1 mile into restaurants and Brew pubs
Very nice bridge to walk across the canal to the main road.
Highly recommended for hip campers and over nighters.
Great place clean bathroom showers I will be back!

We loved tent camping on Shaum’s property! Alderwood was very spacious and private. Lots of cool trails to explore on the property. We felt very welcomed and had everything we needed. Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

I enjoyed camping out at Hippie OG for a couple of days recently. It was very quiet, but the birds filled the air with beautiful song. A somewhat rustic campsite, with an outhouse available nearby. Lots of firewood to buy in generous bundles if you need it.

Great spot, nice and quiet (mostly, it was Fourth of July after all, so some fireworks off in the distance that got quiet at a reasonable time). Beautiful area, nice host, everything was very clear. Had a much better time here with my dogs than we would have at home on the Fourth, and we enjoyed nearby hikes and short walk on the quiet gravel road. Great spot!

23 ft travel trailer
We showed up with our little teardrop trailer and our dog. The sites are each on level grassy ground which was perfect for our trailer. Our hosts have three super sweet dogs that our dog got along with right away. Our host Richard makes the rounds with his dogs a couple times a day and is great to talk with. We had such a great time and will definitely be back.
