Lovely retreat, but bring earplugs
We had a delightful weekend stay at the River Lodge Resort. The kayaks and SUP boards were fun. The lawn was beautiful and we enjoyed the Adirondack chairs overlooking the River. Other families camping on the property were very kind and respectful.
Unfortunately, the friends of the host (as they told us) were not following the same guidelines. One night they were out on the patio talking LOUDLY until past midnight. Their noise, the bright floodlights surrounding the property, and the rooster crowing (I counted) 37 times the next morning starting at 4am made for a poor nightâs sleep.
The next night was better because the ownerâs mother-in-law who was also staying on the property kindly turned the flood lights off for us. The rowdy bunch went to bed earlier and was quiet. But the rooster was at it again the next morning, starting at 4:00 am on the dot. It didnât help that ALL the chickens were roosting in the tree next to our campsite, so even with ear plugs and headphones, I couldnât block out the rooster.
Our campsite was otherwise lovely though, very shady, private, and close to the bathroom and water pump. LOVED having a cute, clean bathroom for once on a camping trip too!!
Overall, it was a good trip but weâll probably stick to conventional campsites from now on.
