The smaller of the two parks in Caribou-Targhee National Forests, Caribou is a welterweight not to be underestimated. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance.
Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

This property has also been the host to never dams. Located at the base of Wolverine Canyon is our little slice of heaven called Wolverine Ranch. It is a 100 year old working cattle ranch. The Camp is located in the Headquarters Wolverine Ranch and we decided to name it Wolverine Adventures after a saying that Kelly and Robyn's family has. If something has to be done on the Ranch that is of a more difficult nature, we ask one another "What time is it? Adventure time!" This gets us through the more demanding tasks on the Ranch and allows us to have fun and humor through it all.
As you pull through the Juniper log archway you will drive right through the corrals. Gates may be closed but are to contain cattle and horses, not to keep people out. Come on in and please close the gate behind you.
Wolverine and Jones Creeks run through camp and we do allow catch and release fishing with an Idaho Fishing License of course. Camp is the perfect place to unwind after driving all day and unplug from the busy world outside of the gates. THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE AT CAMP!! You may get signal a short walk up a hill above camp. We do allow campfires but only in the community fire pit area. There is a hot water shower with 180 degree views of the Juniper covered hills while you wash the stress away. We do also have a flushing toilet and potable water right in camp. We do offer a few add on Adventures such as trail rides or Ranch tours. These will need to be discussed in advance of your arrival. Communication with Robyn is encouraged via HipCamp messaging as we often are out of service and need to know an approximate ETA. We prefer to meet every guest and help you get settled in, answer any questions, and apprise you of any information you will need to enjoy your stay. There is abundant wildlife that frequent The Camp, including White Tailed Deer, Mule Deer, Song Birds, Racoons, skunks, and snakes. We do allow pets, however they must be on leash and under control at all times, The Camp has resident chickens and cattle and horses are always nearby.

Fishing in the river is great, boasting rainbow, cut throat, brook and brown trout. There's also a few great swimming holes right below the property, including a 15 ft. waterfall. Guests may hike trails to the old mines, or be directed to a plethora of trails for biking nearby. The setting at Bristol is uniquely peaceful for the busy tourist town of Lava Hot Springs. We have about a mile of river running through our property—come float it! We also have a cute barn, farm animals, and a farm shop offering meat, milk, eggs, beeswax candles, soap, tea, coffee, honey, bread, and more—all sourced right here on our farm.
We have a couple of great places to stay and plenty to do. We are located just 5 minutes off I-15 and 18 minutes from Lava Hot Springs, and about 15 minutes from a Costco. Come camp here with the kids and enjoy the space to play and relax.
We offer a “bunkroom” trailer for rent. It is dry camping (no water or toilet), but there is a porta-potty nearby. It can be rented with or without power and stove capabilities. The trailer includes a couch and a full-size bed and is available for nightly rental.
Tent sites can be set up near our Kid Beach River area. It’s close to the farm and shop, yet still offers plenty of privacy. We can host large groups, multiple vehicles, and large RVs. We are also a host on Harvest Hosts—feel free to reach out for more information.
Please note that we do not allow any open flames of ANY kind, except those contained within RVs.
NO DOGS ALLOWED, even in vehicles. Our dog is not good with other dogs, and not all visiting dogs are trained around our free-roaming livestock and poultry. Even if you arrive with a dog in your car, we ask that you call ahead and park at the top so we can secure her and prevent any risk of damage to your vehicle. We protect her, and she protects us—our animals’ safety is extremely important to us.
Communication is key—tell us what you’d like to see and do in the area, and what kind of experience you’re hoping for while you’re here, and we’ll do our best to make it happen.
We also host family reunions and have a large indoor space available with seating and tables for up to 60 people.

This has become a great place for our family to go to get away for the weekends.
The nights are absolutely beautiful and you can see the stars.
You can hear the coyotes off in the distance chipping and howling.
My kids love to ride their ATV on the trails and we go for hikes and just relax.
There is one fire pit for use at each camp spot (2 spots), just please go into the trees and find some wood to re-stack what you have used and ensure it is out with water and dirt. I fight wildfires during the summer and don’t want to have to fight one up there. Plus I may be hard to reach depending on where I’m located.

Our Bear Lake Bascamp is perfect for boondocking or pitch a tent and camp in our 5 acres meadow or find a small shady spot in the 5 acres of quakies and pine trees! Off grid camping! OHV trails (ride from camp), bring your mountain bikes or even just go for a hike. Located at the edge of the Caribou-Targhe National Forest, Montpelier Ranger District, Idaho. The sunrises are amazing and in the evening you can listen to the coyotes off in the distance. It is open in the winter for snowshoeing or snowmobiling in with wood ready for the fire pit! Recommend, that when you first arrive, build a small fire in the fire pit and the smoke will get rid of any of the bugs around. We get up there about 1 time a month and mow/trim the path, parking and work on the trails in the pines. Turn left at the smile face....When you see it, you'll know what I mean ;) Please be respectful of others who have property in the area as well. Don't climb over anyone's fences.

This was our second visit to Jen's Idaho Yurt. Our family enjoyed it so much the first time, we came back a few years later. The Yurt is well stocked, comfortable and so peaceful. Great for family time away and close enough to Lava Hot springs for convenient daily trips into town for tubing and soaking in the hot springs.

This place is incredibly peaceful and private—the perfect escape to unwind. We came up from SLC. The sound of the flowing creek was so relaxing, and our dogs absolutely loved it! The picnic table and fire pit were wonderful additions that made our stay even more enjoyable. We also spotted some large birds that were fun to watch, which added to the charm of the setting. We’ve already booked another stay and can’t wait to return. The hosts were friendly and provided great communication throughout!

Ken’s land is gorgeous! Site 1 is absolutely beautiful. It was clean, well maintained and very private. It’s different than standard campgrounds where the host drives and drops by, we appreciated the seclusion. Because Ken responds immediately, we knew if we needed anything, we’d be able to get ahold of him fast. I would recommend 4 wheel drive once you leave the roadway, there is kind of a steep hill going down, but it’s not bad, and you’ll have to drive across the creek to get to the site. The porta potty is close, but you’ll have to walk across the creek to get to it. If you appreciate the beauty of trees, you will love the ones here, they’re majestic. Between the trees, the creek next to the site, and the birds singing it was so peaceful and relaxing. It is truly stunning and has been added to our favorites. We can’t wait to go back.

Beautiful property with great views. The property was flat and spacious, perfect for camping. Hosts were so gracious and welcoming. I can’t say enough positive things about them. Directions were a little tricky - go to intersection of 3600 and 400, then head north and turn right after the shed (on the left).

We had an amazing time at Crazy Cow Farm!! Shayna was an incredibly kind host and greeted us with a nice welcome basket complete with a s’more’s kit, oatmeal packets, and stickers for our son. There was so much to do from seeing the animals, to the peddlebikes, and the playground. The campsites were so adorable with the cutest farm decor and flowers. They really thought of every detail and it felt so homey. The bathrooms were clean and so nicely decorated as well. We ended up being the only campers for the night and Shayna allowed us to set up camp wherever we wanted. We will 100% be back!!

Absolutely amazing camping spot! This place had everything we needed and more — clean facilities, great amenities, beautiful surroundings, and such a relaxing atmosphere. You can really tell the host cares about making sure guests have the best experience possible. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating from start to finish.
One of the best parts is the location — it’s close to town, making it super convenient, while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. There are also so many nearby places to explore, whether you want outdoor adventures, sightseeing, shopping, or great local food. It made the whole trip even better having so much to do nearby.

Weekend Trip to Secret Canyon Ranch
My wife and I loved the yurt. I %100 recommend this place. I would also recommend bringing your own cookware and silverware. The place is already equipped. It just made cleaning up a lot easier for my wife and I.
It's so quiet, and there were some deer that we saw up the ridge. I recommend it for a quick weekend getaway for a technology detox.

We really enjoyed staying at the Meadow Springs Homestead campsite. What a quiet, peaceful area with a beautiful view! We parked our tear drop just outside the gate, which worked out perfectly. We loved spending the weekend in a bird sanctuary. The bathroom was nice and clean. The area seemed to have been recently mowed, and we appreciated that. We would definitely come back!

Such a beautiful area that combines mountains, grassy plains and a lake. There are a lot of goat heads but a beautiful place to come to hear the birds and soak in the sun.

GORGEOUS views at dry camp 5, totally private, I wish I could've stayed longer. The only thing to make note of is the drive up there- up a steep hill with tall grasses that will scrape against your undercarriage! But my lil 2wd car that struggles up hills made it up just fine!

I brought my Havan Safari hammock tent to stay here a couple night. It was so lovely to see the gorgeous sunset from here & here the chorus of the birds, frogs & other wildlife in the area as a drifted off to sleep & awoke to the singing of birds.
Nice to have access to well water & a bathroom. I like that is was away from the main lake & all the people.

What a senic, yet serene location. Cord's map and signs made it easy to access Camp #5, where hillisde cow pastures and snowcapped peaks made for great views. Cow mooing a plus!

The setting for this HipCamp is amazing. I stayed up top of the property and the views and isolation were amazing. Yet still close and accessible to Pocatello for the soccer triunamnet we were in town for. Great communication and willingness to help from host. Would absolutely stay again!
