Really enjoyed pure peace and solitude up there. My dog and I were very happy and cozy - loved the fire pit upgrade- worth it! Beautiful sunset and sunrise. Will come back next time I need a reset.

Ample space to fit multiple cars / tents.
But honestly I find it a bit expensive for what it is. Unfortunately looks like most other similar Hipcamp in the area are the same price level.

I loved my stay. Safe, private, remote with a gorgeous view. Host was friendly and available. I would easily stay again. Road is rough, which seems to be most of the comments. If you go slow you will be fine. The price for some remoteness.

The camping was amazing. You had a great view on both sides. Come prepared with your own bathroom situation (pack it out). I’m glad I read reviews about the dirt road.

It’s a bit of a drive to get to but had beautiful views. The campsite is very dusty and the bathrooms were pretty far from our site but otherwise everything was great.

Quiet private campsite with the sweet scent of Ponderosa pine and views of the coast in one direction and the mountains in the other. The Milky Way was also viewable at night which was a nice treat.

The views were beautiful! Study picnic table and totally private! The 3 mile dirt road was a fun adventure making you feel like you were really getting away.
Would recommend using your RVs toilets or nature, instead of the provided bathroom

The site is lovely, great views of both Santa Cruz and the surrounding mountains, and very private. There were at least three areas within the campsite itself that we could set up at, each of which had different views that were equally stunning. A picnic table and a couple chairs were provided at the biggest area, and if you get the propane fire that's where it is set up as well. Host was very responsive and sent us great directions the day of the stay. If you come from the east (152?), prepare for one of the worst roads I've ever driven, extremely rough gravel for about 3 miles uphill; from the west (17) it was still rough but not nearly as bad. Google's directions from the west will be wrong if you're towing a trailer, the host will give better ones. The toilet onsite is essentially a porta-potty, and there is no water available so be sure to prepare for that.

The site is very secluded and private. We were alone in the middle of the mountains, that was a very positive aspect. On the other hand, the site is far from any hiking trails, and although the host mentioned proximity to uvas canyon county park, which indeed was just a few feet away, all the trails are at least an hour away. The road to get there is 45 minutes of dirty bumpy road. While it is understandable that this is the price for privacy, it should at least be clearh advertised in the description. Lastly, the views were priviledged, the sunrise was a unique sight.

Second time here. Our first time was during winter which was so beautiful we had to come back for the summer. Just as beautiful, peaceful it’s like waking up on top of clouds & the stars at night are breath taking. Definitely recommend!

The campsite was so beautiful! We loved how private it was and the view was amazing!! When we had a problem the propane tank the host was very responsive and brought us a new one quickly. Would highly recommend this place!

We had a great experience in general, it is very private so no one will complain about noise. The place was easy to find with the location and instructions given. There is not big trees so bring your own stuff for shade.
What we didn’t like is that there is no water and proper bathroom, the pit bathroom available for the 4 sites it was hard to find in the night because there is no sign. Other than that, is a good place to see the amazing views and a big space to have big groups!

Five stars! This experience was amazing!! Gorgeous view, so much privacy, all needed amenities. We will be back — and will bring friends!
The site is massive — you could fit multiple tents! There is a picnic table and chairs, plus a toilet (just a bit of a walk away). Your campsite is gated so you feel secluded.
The hosts are fabulous! Our car battery died and they were so great about coming over and giving us a jump!
We will absolutely be back again!
(Note: the road to get here is definitely rough — gravel and dirt — so just be prepared) :)

So glad we came for a 2-night stay. Our (lifted) Scion and little camper made it through the rough, unpaved road. Yes, very very private and quiet. Plenty of room for my blind German shepherd to play around with his ball. The views of Monterey Bay and Morgan Hill were spectacular! I highly recommend requesting the propane fire pit for warmth - worth it. This place is good for a 2-night stay (nothing really to do here). We did enjoy hiking Madonna Park. If it wasn't for the unpaved road, I would certainly come back. It's too rough for me and my little car, but I highly recommend for jeeps and such! Thank you, hosts, for the picnic table and chairs!!

Top of the world experience with fantastic views, yes, but some unexpected aspects would make me avoid this site in the future.
To get there you'll need an off road/high clearance vehicle. With a 4x4 truck, I had zero issues. Be prepared for a long stretch of unpaved rugged roads with dips, pits, and washboards.
While visually thecampsite itself was awesome, the disturbing sounds from neighboring yelling people, late night dirt bikes, and passing cars about 50ft from the site make this a not so peaceful place to sleep. There were even moments my guest and I began feeling unsafe as we were startled awake throughout the night by people, cars, and other man made noises nearby.
If you're fine with urban camping maybe you won't notice this stuff but as a nature guy looking for serenity this place didn't meet my expectations.

Not very private, but great views.
It’s a bummer because this place used to be super rad and quiet, a great escape from the busy bay, but my stay was kind of ruined by the unusually high traffic on a nearby road where vehicles seemed to be speeding around all day. The gate to the site is also broken and incredibly difficult to open. It just seems to have really gone down since the last time I camped here. Don’t get me wrong, the views are great, it just wasn’t very private or safe feeling with so many people whipping around out there. I actually left a whole night early because the two vehicles that kept coming by were increasingly more rowdy…perhaps New years is a bad time to camp out there.

The drive up was a bit rough because it becomes a dirt road at some point and there were burnt out/abandoned cars on the way - both of which I’m thankful for (deters campers so more availability)

Gorgeous Views, Needs more upkeep
One of the most impressive views for a campsite I’ve had. Some issues won’t be having us back soon, however.
Camp above the clouds and wake up to some fantastic summit views. Splurge for the propane to help w ambience at night. On a clear night you can see the stars above the city and over the valley as well. We had some wind and rain the first night so be ready to tie everything down and bring cover (this applies to sun as well, it got hot!)
Follow GPS coordinates and you should find the campsite easily. Fairly rugged 3 mile climb, not advised to bring a sedan but I did see one or two make the trip up.
The bathroom was a deal breaker. It was covered in rat feces. Other campers had thrown their used tp around the outside of the toilet and it’s clear no one knew how to flush it properly. I used the urinal and a pipe was busted so it went all over the floor. Also a slight headache to find, ask for a map in advance as it took a couple hours to receive a response from the host. I guess the sites aren’t checked after check out. Around my site others had used the perimeter for a toilet and left their used tp.

The view at this campsite is amazing. However, the route to get there is really challenging. This is not a location for one night. I have a 4 wheel drive vehicle and we were pretty worried one of the axles would break. Once you leave the county road, there are miles of primitive still to go. A Mercedes was the first vehicle we saw with a broken axle. As we continued on, there were many abandoned vehicles and a burned out motor home. Plan on everything you bring with you to be filthy. That said, the view of the Pleiades was amazing! It's a nice campsite and really beautiful.

The area is very beautiful, with amazing views. Overall we had a good time. The sites seem nicely maintained, but there were a couple major issues. Directions said site #1 would be labelled and have my initials, it had neither a number nor my initials. We spent nearly an hour driving up and down the dirt road trying to figure out where site #1 might be. Attempts to contact the host didn't work out. We eventually tried the code in this lock to a nearby site we weren't even sure was part of the same property. And it worked, and the host happened to show up at that time to confirm (and said they had an emergency, but they managed to have our site ready so not sure what happened). Also the bathroom was nowhere to be found. Lota and lots of bugs too, but what a view!
