Simply wonderful experience!
We absolutely LOVED everything about our experience! Our hosts were warm, friendly & welcoming but not intrusive. We really enjoyed the breakfast, and the company & conversation was wonderful. I would highly recommend this experience to to everyone and we are definitely planning another trip!
We stayed at the riverside primitive campsite and it was perfect! Secluded, but not isolated. The hosts, Patrick and Angelica made sure we had everything we needed, and Patrick gave us some great recommendations on things to see and do.
Shout out to Patricks Point, we spent 2 nights and had a blast, Mr Patrick and his wife are great hosts. He delivered us to a put in, brought my truck back to his take out and was super informative about everything, probably one of the nicest ppl ever at with a campground. You don't deal with an employee, you deal with the owner... we did the Costa Rican traditional breakfast Saturday morning and it was delicious and fresh. We were secluded just like we asked, we used the outdoor showers which were refreshing. His wife even went and got chicken livers for bait in corbin when we couldn't find any at Walmart in Williamsburg, we were on our schedule for everything. We even saw a bald eagle by our camp while cooking breakfast this morning. We definitely suggest trying them out if you have a chance.
I can’t even express how amazing this place is!!! We wanted a remote spot by water and literally planned a few hours out from leaving home. After we booked they were in immediate communication and so helpful. Once we got there we felt so welcomed! They provide anything you may have missed like ice and firewood. We did the primitive camping site and WOW!!! You are right on the water and hidden in the trees. It was beautiful and a nice remote reminder of life away from society. BUT if you do need to connect they have WiFi in the awesome pavilion. They have amazingly clean restrooms. Also so many fun activities like basketball, ping pong, bags etc. none of this compares to the people you will meet. Patrick and Angelica were such a blessing to meet and hear their amazing life stories. What interesting people! We also got to meet some of the other family up for the summer and had such a great time! I highly recommend this place! I can’t wait to come back and check out a concert! Patrick also has extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and hooked us up on exactly what we would need to know to get to the falls and camp. Helpful tip: if it says nothing is available online give them a call and they should be able to get you a site.
Mountain top campsite
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Upon check-in, I was given the option of either going down by the river or up on the mountain, since that spot was open also. I chose the mountain and loved the seclusion the location offered. The trail to the mountain top site was easy to do with a 4WD vehicle. The hosts checked in on me daily, but always in a respectful way that ensured my privacy. They even offered to (and did) bring ice up to me. The view of the sky from the mountain was gorgeous at night. Nighttime was filled with sounds of wildlife. On the last day, I utilized the shower down by the Kentucky Barn. It was well maintained, clean and the water was hot.
The hosts went from purely hosts to friends by the time I left. I am a single female camper and felt safe continually. There is signal at the top of the mountain and I was able to text back and forth with Angelica throughout my stay.
I HIGHLY recommend Patrick's Point and all their camping/cabins they offer.
