Clear blue water and mountain views await you at Lake Wenatchee State Park. Hidden away in the Cascades, this Washington lake offers both land and water adventures. Plus, since you can camp year-round, there’s no end to the Pacific Northwest fun.
Fed by glaciers and melting snow, Lake Wenatchee is clear and cool. There are plenty of ways to explore the lake—kayak or paddleboard along the shore or swim in the shallows. In the summer, windsurfers glide across the center of the lake. Bring your own boats and boards, or simply rent them onsite.
Prefer to stay on land? Take the hiking trails 9 miles to summit Dirtyface Peak, or ride your mountain bike through the forest. Horseback riding is another popular activity, especially when the leaves turn in the fall. Nearby, you can find fantastic rock climbing at Tumwater Canyon.
Look out at the Wenatchee River from your private picnic table at the park’s two campgrounds. The North Campground features a dump station and bathrooms. For showers and sites for larger RVs, the South Campground is your best bet. Outside the park, the Nason Creek Campground offers additional sites.
Don’t stay away when the snow falls—bring your warmest gear and try winter camping. The park grooms 25 miles of trails for cross-country skiing. You can also explore the forest on snowshoes or fly down the well-maintained sledding hills.
No matter when you visit, getting to Lake Wenatchee is a breeze. The park is just 100 miles from Seattle and 16 miles from picturesque Leavenworth.
