About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. The field leads down to incredible cypress trees lining the Medina River. We also have a primitive camping area down by the river that requires you to park in a parking area and walk to your preferred camping spot. If you are looking for solitude and untouched nature, this is the place for you. The comforts of Bandera are conveniently only a 5 minute drive away. We are located less than 2 miles from Bandera City Park! At this time, all sites are completely dry. We do have porta-potties available. RV sites are boondocking only (no water or electric at this time.) Guests may stay at Memmie’s Farm for a maximum of 6 consecutive nights. Our slice of land on the Medina River is truly gorgeous! There are beautiful cypress trees that are magical year round, and there are often small rapids. If relaxing in the shade by the river and dipping your feet in is your thing, our property is perfect for that! However, this is not a swimming hole. The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

Great place for a less-crowded camping/glamping experience. Bathrooms were really clean. Sadly no stickers at the little cabinet store when I checked, but I will be back and hopefully can grab one then. The river was very nice as well. I booked RV site 2 and the walk was maybe 3ish minutes? No biggie. Would definitely reccomend.

We really enjoyed this site! Had an RV spot with plenty of room to ourself - didn't feel too close to anyone, although at first when pulling in we thought we were close to the other RV and in the "backyard" of one of the cabin/houses, but it didn't end up feeling like that and still felt fairly private. Having electric and a water spout was nice (although the spout was just a few inches sticking out vertically from the ground, as it's intended for an RV hookup hose), room for our pop-up camper (don't actually have an RV) plus we set up a 10x10' canopy (although there were plenty of trees in the area), and it was just a few strides to the firepit. Our site was just a couple minutes walk to the water, too. The water was so clear and cool! Not sure about the depth everywhere, but where we went was anywhere from shin to thigh deep. Some areas might have gotten a little bit deeper. We did some fishing, as well. We'd definitely recommend! Thank you, Angela, for the hospitality.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the river. We actually did car camping in one of the RV sites. I would love to explore more of the primitive camping. It was beautiful in the trees. The owners came by often to check, especially after a thunderstorm. We definitely stay again.

Nice access to river. Stars were awesome! Friendly people that work there. Cool dirt roads to explore. A couple of river crossings. Saw a jack rabbit that was huge! Guess I never saw one. lol. Will go back!

Great site for both RVs and Tents. 50/30 amp hookup with water and 110v outlets. Mulched area with picnic table, fire ring and grill

I enjoyed the area and the time there. I would recommend them. The rv sites 1-4 near the water have very little shade. The awnings are not useful as the sites are south facing. Bring additional shade that is flexible for coverage.

What a perfect spot! We stayed 3 nights in Site 9 and had a blast. We used the ranch as a base camp and visited some of the nearby state parks during spring break. The property is quiet and the stars are bright at night! There’s plenty of room for kids to run and play and be kids.

We had site 1 and it was perfect. It was quiet and the way the site is situated we felt that we had privacy. Owners are on site and very nice. I think site 1 and site 2 are probably the best. It is a small hike to get down to the river, but you get your steps in and some exercise. We will be staying here again. Our dogs over playing in the river

The unpaved roads and neighborhood on the way to camp were a bit misleading. Boulderdash is super cute and extremely well maintained!! We stayed in the pull-thru RV slot. It was pretty level and had shade provided by trees on one side. Plenty of room for slide outs and our big truck. Very quiet aside from all the songbirds. Owners and camp Host were extremely friendly. Good WiFi. River level was low but still flowing to enjoy sitting in it.

Weekend Trip to The Charmadillo: Glamping Resort

I took my small 1400 lb camper and it worked out great! The spot is near a clearing with great views which felt private but close enough to the Den and other amenities (short walk to the shower/rest room). They provide a 30/50 amp hookup but no water hookup. The property was perfect. Quiet, relaxing, amazing amenities (sauna, cold tubs, hiking trails with views, hammocks in a grove!). Great for female solo travelers. Very responsive host, great value. Truly resort-like for a fraction of the cost. This property will certainly gain popularity over time so enjoy it while you can! Location: site 5. Rating 5. On site property management - awesome and super hospitable. Hiking by the river, awesome. Bring wading boots as the river is shallow enough to walk across. Amazing views! Game warden came by and gave out stickers to kids. Bring off road truck for across the river bed, nice rock trail for it.

Great peaceful area. Gorgeous spot on the Medina River. The water is a little cold this time of year (Jan) so we didn't swim but, our pup did, & loved it. We saw deer, turkey, & an Axis deer. Lovely area to relax for sure.

We had a wonderful stay at Sparrow Bend River Retreat. The property looked exactly as advertised — the photos were spot on. The walk from our RV spot to the Medina River was short and easy, and the river itself was absolutely beautiful, with crystal-clear water. Seeing deer on the property and enjoying the peaceful setting made it a perfect place to slow down, recharge, and get some fresh air. The sunsets were stunning, and the entire area felt calm and rejuvenating. Everything was very clean, and we appreciated the locked gate, which made it feel like a safe place to leave our off-grid trailer while we explored Kerrville. Angela was fantastic to communicate with — responsive, helpful, and great to deal with. The only minor downsides were some dogs barking nearby, but once we mentioned it to Angela, the neighbor’s dogs quieted down. Honestly, it still beats train or highway noise any day. The hot water for showers didn’t last very long, but it wasn’t a deal-breaker. Overall, this is a beautiful, peaceful retreat that we’d happily return to when we’re looking for rest, nature, and quiet time by the river.
