The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Please notify me in your booking if you intend to bring a camper and I can accommodate you. We practice leave-no-trace as much as possible. So please pack out anything you pack in. You are responsible for removing all trash. If any garbage is left behind in your site you will be billed for the cleanup. We have a dumpster located near the front gate. RV sites are boondocking only (no water or electric at this time.) Guests may stay at Memmie’s Farm for a maximum of 6 consecutive nights. Our slice of land on the Medina River is truly gorgeous! There are beautiful cypress trees that are magical year round, and there are often small rapids. If relaxing in the shade by the river and dipping your feet in is your thing, our property is perfect for that! However, this is not a swimming hole. The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

This site is suited to tent camping, car camping and small RV "dry camping". There is relative privacy, hopefully starry nights and campfire provisions. Guests share a pasture with livestock and wildlife. Weather in all its variations is part of camping. If you are not prepared to deal with whatever the weather may be, you should consider another option. We encourage guests to research this destination before booking, carefully review our cancellation policy, and consider buying travel insurance to protect against unexpected travel disruptions. Weather conditions are not an acceptable reason for a refund or change of reservation for this campsite. Cellular service is limited here. AT&T provides a good signal in this area. HOWEVER **** SPRINT, VERIZON and T-MOBILE may have “VERY POOR” or “NONEXISTENT” cellular signals at this site. We have neighbors, and although the place is relatively large, and we don't anticipate a problem, there is no guarantee that you will not be bothered by some kind of noise. Likewise, we don’t want our neighbors bothered by any noise coming from you. People live out in the country to enjoy separation of space. Please be considerate of others and keep noise to a minimum. Observe quiet time after 9 pm and before 8 am. The country roads in this area are paved and they are excellent for walking, bicycling and driving. There are “cattle guards” in the roadways. Cattle guards are steel pipe obstacles along a road intended to prevent livestock, such as sheep and cattle from passing out of a fenced area. We now offer a/c rentals Ecowave 3 and or bougerv. Twisted Oaks is located on 21 acres of tree lined Texas Hill Country nestled in the heart of San Marcos. The campsites are well spaced and several have large Oak tree canopy/shade. We encourage campers to purchase our firewood, we will make sure you have what you need at a fair price. I will also provide you with a small bundle of firewood for free upon arrival. The bundle is enough for one fire. Please be respectful. This is my home (35 years) and I do not need any help redecorating or rearranging. Please treat my property as you would want your home treated by a guest. No tobacco, but if you choose to smoke, do it in your vehicle. I work from my home. My workspace is separated and you will have your privacy. my workspace is separate from campsites and is off limits. Campfires are tied to weather, strong wind low humidity and dry conditions will be considered when allowing permitted fires....cook stoves are ok. My wife and I celebrated her bday here. We stayed in RV Slot 1 but also booked RV Slot 2 for more privacy after reading reviews. Glad we did because they are a little close together. Slot 1 is a little further from the house that is also a rental property. However the tent sites (Site 3 in particular) are all pretty private and have a much better view of the river. We would definitely book again just would get a tent site the next time. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The river is beautiful and the views are amazing..

We really enjoyed our time here! The location was a little difficult to get to with a large RV (narrow residential roads/low trees, etc) but once we actually got settled, the time was well spent. The area was perfect for us and two dogs. It would be a little too close if you had to camp next to people you do not know at slot2, but we booked with our RV friends so it was a perfect set up to visit and relax outside amongst each other. The property and water was BEAUTIFUL! All of the other guests were very friendly and there was a good amount of space between everyone.

Great place for a less-crowded camping/glamping experience. Bathrooms were really clean. Sadly no stickers at the little cabinet store when I checked, but I will be back and hopefully can grab one then. The river was very nice as well. I booked RV site 2 and the walk was maybe 3ish minutes? No biggie. Would definitely reccomend.

The campsite is extensive and yet offers secluded sites. They have RV sites with hookups, tent sites, an Indian teepee, cabin, glamping tents and RV's for rent. You can be close to the river or under the trees. Great quiet location in the Texas Hill Country.

We really enjoyed this site! Had an RV spot with plenty of room to ourself - didn't feel too close to anyone, although at first when pulling in we thought we were close to the other RV and in the "backyard" of one of the cabin/houses, but it didn't end up feeling like that and still felt fairly private. Having electric and a water spout was nice (although the spout was just a few inches sticking out vertically from the ground, as it's intended for an RV hookup hose), room for our pop-up camper (don't actually have an RV) plus we set up a 10x10' canopy (although there were plenty of trees in the area), and it was just a few strides to the firepit. Our site was just a couple minutes walk to the water, too. The water was so clear and cool! Not sure about the depth everywhere, but where we went was anywhere from shin to thigh deep. Some areas might have gotten a little bit deeper. We did some fishing, as well. We'd definitely recommend! Thank you, Angela, for the hospitality.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the river. We actually did car camping in one of the RV sites. I would love to explore more of the primitive camping. It was beautiful in the trees. The owners came by often to check, especially after a thunderstorm. We definitely stay again.

Nice access to river. Stars were awesome! Friendly people that work there. Cool dirt roads to explore. A couple of river crossings. Saw a jack rabbit that was huge! Guess I never saw one. lol. Will go back!

I enjoyed the area and the time there. I would recommend them. The rv sites 1-4 near the water have very little shade. The awnings are not useful as the sites are south facing. Bring additional shade that is flexible for coverage.

What a perfect spot! We stayed 3 nights in Site 9 and had a blast. We used the ranch as a base camp and visited some of the nearby state parks during spring break. The property is quiet and the stars are bright at night! There’s plenty of room for kids to run and play and be kids.

We had site 1 and it was perfect. It was quiet and the way the site is situated we felt that we had privacy. Owners are on site and very nice. I think site 1 and site 2 are probably the best. It is a small hike to get down to the river, but you get your steps in and some exercise. We will be staying here again. Our dogs over playing in the river

The unpaved roads and neighborhood on the way to camp were a bit misleading. Boulderdash is super cute and extremely well maintained!! We stayed in the pull-thru RV slot. It was pretty level and had shade provided by trees on one side. Plenty of room for slide outs and our big truck. Very quiet aside from all the songbirds. Owners and camp Host were extremely friendly. Good WiFi. River level was low but still flowing to enjoy sitting in it.

Weekend Trip to The Charmadillo: Nature Retreat

I took my small 1400 lb camper and it worked out great! The spot is near a clearing with great views which felt private but close enough to the Den and other amenities (short walk to the shower/rest room). They provide a 30/50 amp hookup but no water hookup. The property was perfect. Quiet, relaxing, amazing amenities (sauna, cold tubs, hiking trails with views, hammocks in a grove!). Great for female solo travelers. Very responsive host, great value. Truly resort-like for a fraction of the cost. This property will certainly gain popularity over time so enjoy it while you can! Location: site 5. Rating 5. On site property management - awesome and super hospitable. Hiking by the river, awesome. Bring wading boots as the river is shallow enough to walk across. Amazing views! Game warden came by and gave out stickers to kids. Bring off road truck for across the river bed, nice rock trail for it.
