There are plenty of opportunities to get out and explore - you can hike, bike, canoe camp; kayak, off-road, swim, go horseback riding, visit hot springs, as well as visit restaurants, galleries, and listen to great music in Terlingua. There is something for everyone to feel free to bring the whole family. DIRECTIONS: Once you are on Road Runner Circle, go past the house on the left with the Christmas lights on. Please continue down the road and follow the road around the curve to the left. The campsites will be on the left and side behind the rock walls. The campsite number that is booked is the campsite you will stay in. Additional details to note: - We now have an above ground pool to keep cool in during the summer! Covered with a shade sail the water stays nice and chilly. ($10 fee/person) - You can stay connected if you'd like to, as cell reception and wifi are both available by the showers. Feel free to unplug during your stay though. - Seeing other campers on your trip at the campsite is very standard, as the sites are far enough apart to feel like they are yours, but they are not private. - Non potable water is provided on-site. The showers and non potable water is located approximately 1/4 mile from campsites 1-7. -We have friendly, quirky miniature goats named Clyde and Stella to visit while up at the showers. We offer a uniquely secluded setting with stunning views of the Chisos Mountains. Located just 7 miles from the entrance to Big Bend National Park, and 10 miles from the visitors' center at Big Bend Ranch State Park, it is a perfect base from which to explore all the hiking, boating, and scenic beauty that West Texas is known for. The arts, history, and entertainment of Terlingua Ghost Town are less than 2 miles away. Like most ruins in the Ghost Town, my stone house was built in the early 1900s to house a miner’s family from the nearby Rainbow Mine. I bought the property in 1986 and began restoring and rebuilding. In 2019 I retired here from NYC and began exploring possibilities for sustainable tourism. West Texas is one of the best places in the United States to view the Milky Way (both Big Bend parks are certified as International Dark Sky parks). We use shielded LED lighting around buildings and pathways to cut down on light pollution and optimize stargazing opportunities for our astrotourists. And we are applying for dark sky certification from the Texan By Nature program. Bear in mind that this is the desert, in all its rugged glory. There are critters, rocks, plants with thorns, slippery slopes, sink holes, rusted artifacts and broken glass from decades long past. Bring sturdy shoes and a flashlight, and stay on the paths! Our intention is to provide remote, low-density accommodation for folks who are respectful of the land.

Just south of Guadeloupe National Park and its peaks. Beautiful. Others have mentioned Hwy 62 noise, which is "always there," but not a real detriment to the desert experience. Basically we loved the site/experience. Wes was very helpful in advance of our stay. I would say that I may not understand the fire ban. I do "fire ecology," and at that site, if folks bring their own firewood, I see little chance for problem even with high wind. There were even some decent fire pits already built. But people with more local knowledge would know way better. For future campers, the entrance gate may be a challenge. I work at a federal site where fence gates may have 3-4 different locks that reflect different users. At Good Guad I think I counted 16-17 locks at the gate. Maybe all necessary?? Don't know. I do know it would be confusing for many folks. So Wes, maybe provide a little more info to campers on what to expect at the gate? Overall a GREAT night! Wes helped us in advance about arrival time, reservation, etc. Very clean sites. Totally recommend it. If you find trash from previous campers, pick it up.

We absolutely loved camping out on Jason's land! Conveniently located about 5 mins from Big Bend National Park with a nice little general store close by as well it really was the perfect location. We certainly enjoyed the use of a nice large firepit and the picnic tables. The outhouse was clean and convenient at the camp site and the showers a short distance away were a huge plus! We also highly appreciated Jason's helping us get one of our cars jumped the last morning. All in all would definitely stay again, and highly recommend this spot for anyone wanting to visit Big Bend!

This is a great location for visiting the two Big Bend parks. The sites are nicely spaced. There are pretty views of the buttes that surround the campground. The bathhouse is new and much nicer than I expected for a rustic location. Really great showers with lots of hot water. Everything was clean and well kept for being in a dusty remote area. Enjoyed the funny signs on the outside of the bath house wall. Met the host when he was filling the bird feeders. Very nice and personable guy. Helpful info: Both the national park and state park have garbage bins for your trash.

This little campground is a special place. The host has taken great care laying out all the sites and the vast desert that surrounds the campground is magnificent, with several beautiful mountains off in the distance. After spending several days in Big Bend National Park, I was in desperate need of a shower, so finding a spot with a shower that was clean, safe, affordable and with killer views was like hitting the jackpot. Jay welcomed me as I drove in and I was able to park my van in a nice, level spot and relax under the full moon. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone passing through this area. Also, bonus points to the host for the bird feeders!

Bradley’s land was perfect. We stayed in our 2004 RWD Ford E-250 van and while the road to the site was a bit bumpy we made it without any issues. The views were amazing, the vibes were spectacular, the host was communicative and provided detailed instructions for getting to the site and around the property. Couldn’t ask for a better first Hipcamp experience. 10/10, would absolutely stay again.

Situated on a perfect piece of land just outside Big Bend and Terlingua, it is a magnificent getaway for those looking to do Big Bend or Terlingua Ghost Town. This is my third time here, and I always enjoy it. Coyotes howling in the distance, beautiful star views at night, a well kept pit toilet and honor system firewood if you're in a pinch (please, PLEASE do not take advantage of this - the honor system is so rare these days) make it just a magnificent spot to spend a few days. We really enjoyed tent camping at Perdido campsite. We enjoyed how peaceful quiet it was out there in the desert with no neighbors. There was another campsite but they were far enough and we didn’t really hear them. I would definitely come back because it was so relaxing to get away from everything for a little while. Brad was nice and helpful. Loved sunrise on the property.

Beautiful desert land with a view of Hueco Tanks State Park. This land is barely starting up so do not expect any glamping or 5 star facilities. There is electricity for RVs or window units for tents. There's also a porta potty. There is a little trash here and there but I am working on cleaning this place up. Be patient and enjoy it for what it is. All natural! Be safe, this is the desert and home to critters, spiders, horned frogs, lizards, ants, cayotes, and probably snakes although I haven't seen any. There is a little shed where you can cook, get some shade, or just relax. The mesquite trees are being worked on so they are not big enough to provide decent shade. Be safe, be smart and have water with you at all times. There is no water, and no showers. But I am working on it! This spot is perfect for those hip campers visiting Hueco Tanks and need a spot to park or rest. It's for hip campers that are used to primitive camping and also to the people in the city that want to get away for a night or two but not drive too far out. The sunsets and stargazing are amazing. Far from the city but close enough to a 10 min drive to a grocery store.

It’s one of the last frontiers of North America and One of the only two National Parks in Texas. The Basecamp will reside on the 40 acre property. In the center is an area of approximately 6 acres flat, with rising limestone ridge lines to the east and west, open skyline to south with a view of Bofecillos Mountains, an area characterized by volcanic deposits of lava and ash-flow tuff and sedimentary deposits of conglomerates and sandstones. The four mountain tops; Packsaddle, Hen Egg, Panther and Agua Fria Mountains provide an amazing view during the day and at night, breathtaking night time views of the Milky Way and the multitudes of stars to gaze upon unlike any other place in North America. The morning sunrise over the eastern mesa brings its own spectacular views. Surrounding the 40 acres are many things of archaeological wonder. A Rock Hounds dream of minerals, stones and fossilized prehistoric microorganisms, as well as, the potential of finding the fossils of large prehistoric aquatic mammals. Yes, you are free to take a small sample of the thousands of quartz and calcite stones found in huge abundance. As you come to then end of Mailbox Rd., you'll see a residence to your left. This is "The Field Lab", owned by the well know sustainable engineer John Wells. If you'd like to pay him a visit, please contact him in advance.
