Stayed the weekend in a small camper here. Site 9 has full hookups. It was a great location (very close to the state park, and not too far from Johnson City), and the grounds were very well kept. Ken was an accommodating and gracious host. Will stay again if back this way.

Weekend Trip to Hamilton Pool Vineyards & Farms

FIVE STARS! This Hipcamp stay at the vineyard near Hamilton Pool Reserve was an unforgettable escape. Secluded but completely safe, it felt like staying on a friend’s private ranch, and the host? A total gem, like that fun uncle who hands you a glass of wine and instantly makes you feel at home. The campsite was nice with level ground with plenty of shade to tuck in our Van away for the hot TX sun. There are clean bathrooms next to the testing room backyard open 24-7. The vineyard was stunning, but the real highlight was the wine tasting with rich, complex wines served with stories and heart. We also took a dip at the near by crystal-clear waters at Reimers Ranch Park it was totally refreshing and made us feel like we had our own private swimming hole. Between the peaceful setting, the genuine hospitality, and the beautiful natural spots nearby, this place is the kind of stay you never forget. Already dreaming about our next trip back.

Weekend Trip to Twisted Oaks...

My wife and I loved camping on John’s land. We stayed at site 3 which is nicely shaded and close to an outhouse. It’s quiet and peaceful. It’s a little over a hour south of Austin. There are disc golf baskets around the property, which we took full advantage of. For anyone who is planning on visiting San Marcos to go to The Flying Armadillo Disc Golf course- John’s property is minutes away. John is incredibly responsive, helpful, and mindful of his guest’s experience. We’ll certainly be back for more camping adventures.

John and Nugget were excellent hosts. Property was well suited for our large group, and John made sure we were taken care of. Had a blast sitting round the fire at night and hanging out. Will have to come back and try the trampoline!

4 nights at Secluded, great hill country views

If you’re looking to visit San Antonio or to just relax this is a great place to stay! We stayed here for a few days in the rv and it was great. We had our 4 dogs and the views from where you park the RV was beautiful! We came in the dark and it was difficult to find the area but during the day it’s easy to maneuver. A very safe area and we felt safe the entire time. There’s a private swimming area ( was beautiful and fun for the dogs) cows are just by the swimming area. Such a beautiful place to camp at. We went to Guadalupe river ( a MUST see) if you want a days of swimming with the dogs or kids! Would return!

Makayla was very welcoming and gave my puppy and I a little ride in the golf cart to show us around when we arrived. My dog absolutely loved the horses and the sheep. The property is huge with access to water. There is a beautiful pavilion for anyone to use with lights and it’s super cute. The site was clean and very spacious. There is a bathroom however it’s super tiny and dark. I initially was planning on staying two nights but left due to the Texas heat and someone on the property deciding to machine gun shoot some targets - very loud and not the nature vibe I was after. Overall I would recommend her place.

There is an outhouse for washing hands and a compost toilet. There are water and electric connections only. 50 amp RV connections. If you need 30 amp you will need a converter. You can pitch a tent. There are rock firepits set up around the property and plenty of firewood. Eventually we will be adding an outdoor shower for camping guests. It is 15-18 minutes to downtown San Antonio. About 15 minutes to tube rentals to float the river in San Marcos. The San Marcos outlet malls are a shower trip. An approximate 30 minute trip to Wimberly, TX wineries. There are wildflowers all over the property; especially in the spring time. We have seen deer grazing on the property and some travelers have found fossils and arrowheads (no guarantees of course). Situated on the side of my house, the site is 95' long. 38' of which is along my house. The width between the house and fence is 18 feet. This should fit any RV with 2 slides being open. As of March 2025, I have my RV parked in back. It still leaves 60+ feet for YOU! Your RV will overlap alongside the house; unless you prefer to be in the back, then we can discuss moving my RV. The entire lot is fenced in, granting guests(and pets) full use of the pool and yard. Enjoy privacy with no neighbors in the back and an 8' side fence where your RV will be parked. The lot is a city sized lot, less than 1/5 acre, but HipCamp won't let me put in less than 1 acre. Pictures show my white/red retro RV as well as other RV's and how they have fit with and without my RV. Backing in is best. You may find maneuvering backwards a bit challenging due to the angle from the street through the front gate and my house overhang. It can be done...it just may take a village! :o) There's plenty of room to tandem park a towed vehicle in front of your RV(fenced in too!), and both 50amp and 30amp electric hookups are located on the back side of my house near the water hookup. (NOTE: Hipcamp will not let me notate in the fields that I have a 50amp AND a 30amp, thus I have 2 sites listed. I have had 2 RV guests stay at same time, but will not book that unless I get the ok from all parties.) LIVE sewer hookup isn't available because my clean-out is in the front of the house. Dumping can be done on the way out or with a portable tank. Nestled in a charming, gentrifying neighborhood, expect the pleasant hum of city sounds (not overly loud) and glimpses of starlit skies. During your stay, I'll be residing in the house with my sociable dog, Toby. We'll be respectful of your privacy but available for any assistance you may need. Toby loves company, including other dogs, and has even been around cats with proper introductions. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to arrange a booking! My idea is to cater to riders of all kinds, If you have a need and I can help, I will. 19 miles away situated along a one-mile stretch of the spring-fed Blanco River, the small but mighty Blanco State Park is very family-friendly, offering the spectacular Falls Dam, nature trails, fishing, tubing, kayaking, and deep water for a good, refreshing swim. The stocked river is teeming with largemouth and Guadalupe bass, catfish, sunfish, and rainbow trout, and can be an excellent place for beginning anglers (you can even borrow equipment for free). Pedernales Falls State Park is only 35 miles away. Swimming at holes, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and birding are a few of the quintessential outdoor Texan activities visitors enjoy most at Pedernales State Park, located near the area of Texas Hill Country where former President Lyndon B. Johnson grew up. Next to the famed Pedernales River, the park is an hour west of Austin, an hour east of Fredericksburg, and about 20 minutes from downtown Johnson City. Wineries and distilleries are a short drive away in nearby Dripping Springs and Stonewall. Pets are allowed. Please make sure you pick up after them.
