Very pleased with our stay
We had a great stay. Nice and quiet, adorable burros and kitties, and the country store was well stocked. Everyone we met was very nice. The only downsides were that our site was very narrow, and because we have stairs that flip down in our RV there was barely any room for them. We also saw in the listing that there's a dishwashing station by the pavilion, which we didn't see, and when we asked the lady didn't know what we were talking about. Not a big deal for us, but those with smaller tanks or who are camping in tents should know that they won't have the ability to wash dishes outside. Otherwise we were very pleased with our stay and would recommend it to those looking to be equidistant to Big Bend and Apline.

Both wonderfully remote and with a store next to camp. Only one water hookup per 2 rigs was annoying, and there were no dump hookups.

I just love this place!
Everyone is so kind and it's a wonderful place to stay. We met some great people camping next to us, the spot was easy to get into, and the desert atmosphere is great. It's also right off the highway, but there's so little traffic and we were far back and didn't hear anything.

Easy location, beautiful views
Great little RV park with basic amenities. ie, outhouse toilet(very clean) and no showers. However there are pay for showers all around Big Bend so it wasn't an issue. The little burro country store has everything you could possibly need and also have extra services like dog watching! Very beautiful vistas and only 20 minutes drive from the turn off into Big Bend. Lot's of Donkeys and horses, some longhorn steer, cats.........You really feel like you are on a working ranch. Which was fun!

There are 3 things we look for when selecting a campground: 1) Hookups 2) Campfires Allowed 3) Campers Are Not Parked Side By Side The campground checked off #1 and #2, however the campground map of the campsites was very deceiving. We wanted a remote campsite so based on the map, sites 15-20 looked perfect. When we got there sites 15-20 were all squished together in 50 yards of space. Two campers had to share one pole for electric hookups and there was only one faucet for water hookups so one camper had to do without. There was absolutely no privacy because we were all on top of each other. Also the map shows sites 15-20 a distance away from the road but road noise was an issue. We stayed 25 miles from Big Bend so we could get all 3 of our needs met but we’re disappointed in the campsites. On a positive note the campground host was very nice…the campground map just needs to be updated.

Bike packing across Terlingua Ranch
Great location within Terlingua Ranch with a lot of unique character. Resident donkey’s and a couple of cats that befriend us topped things off. Great stay!

Well kept
Have gone to Big Bend twice and we love staying at Jackass flats. Porta potty is always nice and clean and the sites to camp on are very spacious and clean. Away from the road so you really don’t hear traffic and the night views are amazing.

Found it easily, set up easily, saw two coyotes, a roadrunner, and heard an animal noise I couldn't identify, and after the moon set the sky filled with so many super-bright stars it was like I was on another planet. Have tent, will return.

Beautiful sunsets and sunrises! Kids liked looking at the donkeys and playing on the old tractor. Little Burro store is conveniently on the property and the Cactus Farm is just down the road.

Great Base Camp to Explore the Area
This was a no frills RV park on the side of the highway. It had good electrical and water hook ups and a couple of porta-potties and garbage cans. It was perfect for us because we were the only ones there and . Good views, clean, and quiet with a well stocked store in the front.

Great location and a really cool campground. Be careful of cactus thorns in the dirt if you are in a tent. I don't think its a risk to feet, but we popped our air mattress through a tarp and tent bottom. Still highly recommend the site.

We felt right at home!
The property is well cared for and everyone was friendly. The store is delightful! Easy in and out with our 34 foot motorhome. This was the perfect home base for our visit to Big Bend.

Great stay at Jackass Flats! Very clean primitive camp sites and multiple restroom options. Also a few covered spaces from protection from temporary rain storms. Also, to be next to a country store is a bonus.

Fun Times at Jackass Flats
We were there for the Dutch Oven Cook-off. Great time with good food, great live music and fun people. The stars were great. The little store on site has pretty much everything you need if you forgot something. Would definitely stay again.

Jackass Flats - the name fits!
We stayed here for two nights in April & we had the place to ourselves. Cool to see the burros right behind our campsite. It wasn’t too far from the parks. Reeling ua is also right up the road. The staff was very nice & the little store was great.

Loved our stay
We really enjoyed our stay at Jackass Flats! It was our first time camping in the desert and I am so glad that we did. Due to the remoteness of the area, we were able to see an amazing display of stars at night. We even had the privilege to hear a Coyote yipping. The kids also loved walking up to the store to say hi to the donkeys. We spent the majority of our day at Big Bend so it was a nice and flat spot to rest our heads. Typical primitive port-o-potty situation and be sure to bring your own water. The only table at our site was a camp table- just big enough for our stove and our jug of water. But really, we didn’t mind it at all. Staff was very friendly when we came across them (again, we left for the park before the store was open and came back after the store was closed). The time we did spend on grounds though made great memories. We are grateful for the hospitality of the owners to share their property. We would definitely recommend!

Strategic Landing Before Big Bend
This was my first trip to West Texas as an adult and as a newbie RV’r. The campground was scenic, peaceful and also, unbeknownst to me, a great base camp before heading out to Big Bend. I highly recommend Jackass Flats. Also, the Burro General Store really does have everything you need if you’re camping out there.

A truly remarkable little gem! If you are looking for peace, quiet, beautiful sunsets, and friendly hosts, I can’t recommend it highly enough. There’s no cell service, but the store WiFi works very well. While it is a little further to Big Bend than staying in Terlingia itself would be, it’s more than worth the extra few minutes drive to come back to the stillness and a sky utterly filled with stars
