A charming 90 year old cottage. I'm the third owner, women owned since the 1930s! Years of organic composting, native planting and good energy surrounds the property. Lake access right across the street, AT and Empire rail trail access less than 3 miles away (shuttle/ pickup service available)
Please note: this price is for the guest room, not the full house. Host lives on site. One full bed in the guest room OR overnight parking for a van. Same amenities will be made available for either setup. Ideal for folks in transit, including AT thruhikers, road trippers, rail trail bikers, and all other beautiful breeds of gypsy and wandering soul looking for a low key break from the trek.
The cottage is less than 3 miles from the spot where the Appalachian Trail and the Empire Rail Trail converge. Loads of great trailheads within

The cottage is less than 3 miles from the spot where the Appalachian Trail and the Empire Rail Trail converge. Loads of great trailheads within a five mile radius, great for those with bikes in tow. If you're taking public transit, you can take the train to Patterson and then pick up a few bikes from Pawling Cyle & Sport. The cottage is a part of a private lake community, nested into a village of quirky cottages and cabins on the banks of Whaley Lake. The beach has a swimming dock and ample space for launching kayaks and canoes. In the winter, the lake freezes over and the gets plowed out by locals for nordic skiing, hockey, ice fishing, and figure skating. This is definitely a spot for all seasons, if you are someone who knows where to find the magic.
Make yourself at home with the oversized fire pit, a book on the screen porch, or art project in the drawing room.
The host does have two dogs, but both are very well behaved and get along great with other dogs.
