Our driveway is located about 3 miles from the start of the Boston Marathon, 8 minutes from 495, but, down a country road. We find our property to be quite peaceful. We do have crickets to lull you to sleep and early birds (and sometimes a neighborhood rooster) to greet you in the morning. Keep an eye out for turtles! We are a few hundred yards from either Upton State Forest or Lake Whitehall. Lake Whitehall is popular with boaters (speed limit enforced) and is stocked with fish. No swimming. There is a public boat ramp on the other side of the lake. We often put in our kayaks at the entrance close to our house. We hike, mountain bike and picnic in these parks. It's really beautiful. There is a 24-hour grocery store 2 miles down the road. The gravel campsite is located at the barn end of our driveway in front of the red barn. There is a little privacy from the house, but, we may need to get into the barn from time to time. We have a 30amp and water hookup at the barn. If planning on using electric please add one "electric hookup" extra to each night of your stay BEFORE finishing the request to book, it's really difficult to add it after. Please plan to bring 50' of hose and/or 25ft of electrical cord if using hookups. There is wifi, BUT, it's pretty weak at the barn. Definitely not strong enough for streaming! Our Ibex camper may or may not be parked next to the barn depending on if we are out camping! We do not accept car campers. Turtle Path also has a Guest Suite. Find us on that other website! Shortly after we moved in we discovered a large snapping turtle on his way from Lake Whitehall to the creek at the back of our property. Our neighbor told us that's the turtle's usual route. I had a nice quiet night outside the Red Barn. Spot felt safe and secure. Was relatively flat. Host is upfront about the fact that you are staying close to their house, so not a ton of privacy but that was expected. Would stay again if I just needed a spot to park in the area.

Great spot to stop for a night!

Very convenient location for a single night while on our way to Maine! Accommodated our teardrop trailer just fine, and was a pleasant stay! The "site" is essentially in the front yard, so keep that in mind depending on what your needs are.

The Best

This was my second time staying at the Red Barn Hipcamp and it’s just perfect! Emily is wonderful about communicating, and it’s a beautiful spot (both at their location and surrounding area). Hookups are easy to access and use. Highly recommend!

Nice overnight in Hopkinton

Easy access off 495. Nice little town. Lovely quiet neighborhood. Was able to walk my dogs who needed some leg stretching time. Hosts were responsive and offered an extension cord for shore power but I ended up boondocking out of personal choice. Red Barn coffee shop I think that's the name was equidistant to the local Starbucks and if you're towing would be the way to go if you want coffee shop caffeine in the morning. Would def stay again. Better for smaller rigs imho. Access in from the road was a little tricky for backing in without assistance. Thank you hosts!

Amazing!

Emily’s spot was absolutely perfect! Great location. Found the spot easy to access, and it was so nice having electric right there. Emily’s communication was top-notch! I couldn’t have asked for a better all around hostess and experience for my first adventure through Hipcamp.

Small rigs are best and space to turn is limited so have backing skill and not attempt turn in drive. BEAUTIFUL neighborhood. Roads are narrow and that makes some passing and turning tricky depending on route. Woods and big yard so bring bug spray. The space worked perfect for a night to stop and rest and exercise our puppy. Homes are gorgeous and we felt very safe.

Charming but wasn’t for us

Red Barn is adorable and beautiful, tucked away in beautiful New England. We have a 30’ RV towing a Jeep. The roads in the neighborhood are narrow, which made passing oncoming traffic tricky. The entrance to the property was a bit narrow for our set up, but we managed. However it opens up and is quite spacious. Please note that there are no sewer hookups, as I did not make note of that. We booked our stay for 5 days. After realizing my oversight, I had to find someplace else as we needed to be able to dump. But if you are looking for a short stay, this is the place to go. Emily was kind and helpful with directions leading up to our stay. I definitely would recommend for smaller rv’s/trailers though. Ticks are present, just as Emily warned. My son got a tick on his leg in just the one day we were there. So be aware. All in all, a charming property in a location with not many places to stay.

Perfect!

What a delight! Emily and Joel were super helpful, offering us various extensions, fire pit, chairs etc. An absolutely beautiful and serene place to stay. We now want to move from the UK to Hopkinton!

Emily and her family were great hosts! It was a perfect location for us to explore Cambridge. It’s just far enough from the city to relax and the surrounding community is amazing! Also, they provided a fire pit which was greatly appreciated.

Peaceful & gorgeous foliage!

Lovely, wooded. It felt like we were in the woods, but minutes off the major highway. Emily was extremely accommodating and we had a peaceful and gorgeous stay. You can’t beat New England in the fall! Thank you! Hope To see you next year!

This was our first Hipcamp experience and it was great. The property is beautiful and peaceful. Good location to visit Boston and the surrounding area. Only 5 minutes from 495 and a grocery store. We would stay here again.

Quiet residential neighborhood

Nice level spot in a quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed our two nights there. We were in a truck camper and needed to travel to Marlborough for a trade show each day. We purchased the power and they allowed us to use the trash. Emily and Joel were there to meet us. Very nice property!

Highly recommend

Very nice campsite. Great hosts. Very convenient for taking the commuter train to downtown Boston. We have a 24’ trailer and it was tricky backing in. But they have an open area to turn around. We should have done that to begin with. It is a very quiet area. Although just a few miles from I495, we could not here the highway at all. In the morning we could hear lambs from a nearby small farm. Highly recommend.

We stayed on this property during the Boston Marathon with our 38 foot motorhome. It was a beautiful place neat lots of places to walk our dog to. We loves the scenery and really enjoyed our stay.

We loved every minute of our stay!!

It really was an unexpected treat,,,though we knew from the photos and the description that it was probably going to suit our needs for the weekend we had no idea just how very special a place the Red Barn and our stay with Emily and Joel would turn out to be, A true snow covered Winter Wonderland out of a picture book one reads/dreams of in childhood,,,, Very private. electric hookup.,complete respect for Covid Protocols!!! The town is minutes away and has EVERYTHING one could want. Again. so pictaresque you could spend days exploring it. We will be back as a vacation destination, not just as a stopover. (looking forward to checking it out during the other seasons as well). As to the Hospitality of the Hosts, you simply won't find yourself in a more comfortable situation, Truly Delightful people Thumbs up on every level., Only one downside, You'll never want to leave!!!

Peaceful with easy access to area

Our stay here was perfect. It gave us a quiet place to stay while we explored the area, canoed, biked, and visited our child at college. Emily was very responsive and friendly. We would definitely stay here again!

We drove a 23 ft flying cloud Airstream and it was a little tight backing in but once you turned into the driveway it widens and there’s plenty of space. Quaint space right next to a red barn.

Emily's home and property were beautiful with electric and water hookups. A slightly long gravel driveway to back in, but my husband was able to pull it off. She even offered us fresh cucumbers from her garden and let us borrow an extension cord. Very hospitable.
