We have been working on restoring the farm infrastructure for the past 4+ years, planting fruit trees and a vineyard in stages, and working on a barn restoration project that will include a creamery for on-site cheese production once finished.Learn more about this land:Our waterfront campsite is located on a wooded parcel nestled between a rolling farm field and a seasonal cottage. Amenities included in the nightly rental are a 16-foot diameter round Regatta Bell canvas tent (water repellent) set up on a raised wooden platform, with a full-sized pull-out futon, an additional single-sized futon chair, a single-sized air mattress, and an indoor dining table and stools. Outside, overlooking beautiful Crawford Pond (aka Crawford Lake) is an outdoor kitchen and lounging area with patio table and chairs, umbrella, as well as kitchenware (cookware, plates, bowls, cups, utensils, coffee press, etc.), a gas grill, and firepit. Also onsite is a shed for storing food bins and trash, a solar composting toilet, and a solar sun shower stall.The campsite is just steps away from shared water access with a small beach and space to launch paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, or other similar kinds of watercraft. Friendly dogs are welcome at the campsite and on the beach; however, dogs should not be left unattended at the campsite or on the beach.The lake covers nearly 600 acres, with an 11-mile perimeter, and is 3.5 miles in length. In the middle sits 100-Acre Island, a beautiful piece of land stewarded by the Georges River Land Trust and a great place to get out and stretch your legs if you are on a long paddle or to have a picnic. In general, this is a delightful setting for swimming, floating, fishing, and paddling among the loons and other wildlife that this water body is home to.The campsite is a short drive to a number of terrific hiking trails that are part of the Georges Highland Path, a 70-mile network of trails, and the St. George River Canoe Trail. It’s also just 20 minutes to Camden Hills State Park and downtown Camden, and 18 minutes to Rockport or Rockland. There are many excellent restaurants and art galleries in these coastal towns, as well as opportunities to get out on the ocean and enjoy our coastal beaches or catch a ferry for a day trip out to explore one of the iconic islands offshore. Home to black bear, local mammals , and our favorite, wolves. Most of the staff live here full time all year. The sounds of the night are magical. Unleash your imagination and camp here away from the crowds you may find within the local Acadia National Park area which begins about 5 minutes away at Thompson’s Island and the bridge to Mt Desertt Island. We are close to basic necessities, and a step away from the masses. We do educational tours daily and if interested these tours are arranged by reservation too. We may allow camping in Winter months but if it is between November and May it is very important to call and find out the accessibility , weather impacts everything. The shower will likely be unavailable in freezing months and some sites are closed. CALL and speak with a staff member before reserving. Self contained Adventure Vans and tent campers with Winter Gear and Rooftop Tents can be accommodated. Or If you want to have a solid roof , screens and a fabulous view ask about reserving our Cadillac Mountain View Loft or if the idea of being naked under the stars is appealing opt for our Raw and Rough site.! We bought it as a place for our fifth wheel, but are up there as much as we'd like and haven't yet finished getting all the utilities set-up, so it's rustic (septic & water, but no pump or electricity). The entry/exit is tight onto the road. Watch out for the granite to the right of the driveway. We recommend backing in, but watch out for traffic on Rt 73. Be sure to have someone watching while backing in. Our cabin is an off grid post and beam structure that we built 6 years ago. It's got a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. The water is limited as is the electricity This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has limited water/power with a separate outhouse. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!
