Due to a recent review, I am also adding here that swimming from our property is not ideal. The lake tends to be weedy during warm summers. There are places to swim nearby, so if you are booking with the sole intent of being able to swim, please be aware that this is likely not the best site for you unless you are willing to drive to a nearby beach.

Our 9 acre wooded lot is a quiet, secluded, woodsy retreat perched above the beautiful Chippewa River. The shallow river is perfect for wading, tubing, paddling & fishing. The undergrowth is a carpet of ferns & native plants. Birders will love this spot. We also encourage bringing your dog friends.
We have several fire rings and encourage responsible campfire hangouts. *Please do not bring firewood. We provide dry wood & dead fall may be used for campfire, but ABSOLUTELY NO CUTTING from live trees, please.
TENT site: Tent site is pretty basic-- it fits one large tent (12'x15') pad and has a fire ring, a cooking grate and picnic table. While it does not have electricity, there is an outlet on the property to charge phones, etc.
BATHROOM: Our well maintained outhouse is a short walk from the tent site, and stays stocked with TP. It also has a solar light for night-time visits.
CAMPERS/VANS: We have 30 Amp electric hookup available for small campers! Bring your pop-up or pull-behind. Intermediate trailer-backing skills are necessary to reach the camper site.
*We do not allow hunting, shooting or ATV riding on the property. Archery practice is Ok however.
** As we continue our A-Frame cabin build, you will see some construction clutter. We will never be working during your stay, however - you'll have the place to yourself unless otherwise agreed upon. Feel free to view the cabin from the outside but please do not enter the structure.

Agate campsite is very generously sized and is all yours. Agate campsite previously featured a "look out point" that has been altered by the natural erosion of the red clay banks that comprise much of Lake Superior's south shore. While you can still access this area, doing so will require more effort and care, and we no longer allow camping on the point.
Superior Beach Camp located is 2.5 hours north of the Twin Cities and perfectly positions you to discover all the wonders of the Twin Ports. Explore this amazing area or stay at camp, set up your chair in the sand and take in the many moods of Mother Superior. Watch the ships come and go to the sparkly backdrop of Duluth’s city lights. The crackle of a driftwood fire on the beach provides the perfect soundtrack as you watch for shooting stars and the aurora.
Stock up on supplies and explore the charming industrial town of Superior, WI – 15 minutes from your campsite. Spend a day mountain biking the Duluth Traverse and touring the the wonderful local dining and tap room scenes of Duluth and Superior. Canal Park, downtown Duluth, is a 25 minute drive.
If you’d like to venture further, you could meander up the North Shore. Or keep it local and check out Bayfield and the Apostle Islands – only 75 minutes East. Stop through the charming lakeside village of Cornucopia on your way.

We are renting out our gorgeous river property located on the Chippewa River in Exeland, WI!! Our 5-acre property is equipped with electricity and power pedestals for multiple RVs, lots of space for outdoor games, a campfire area surrounded by string lights, and newly-constructed steps down to the river. There is a deep swimming hole out in front of the property, great for fishing too, and a boat landing across the river for putting in kayaks and fishing boats. Right off our river bank, we have caught muskys, catfish, smallmouth bass, and northern. We have four kayaks and two paddleboards included with the rental and firewood. Our home was built in 2011 on part of the property. Since living here we have used the land for hiking, gardening, wood harvesting, selling Christmas trees, and now we are excited for our new adventure of opening a small part of our land for camping.

Also known as the Hershey Homestead, our property is home to what we like to call the funny farm. We have lots of kids and all of them are involved in 4h so that means we have lots of animals. Chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks, goats, sheep, pigs, beef, and horses each have a home here as well as dogs and cats. It's rarely quiet but the chorus of sounds you hear can be an interesting mix of the mating calls of the peacocks to the mooing of the cows to the howls of coyotes at night. (And maybe some of our seven kids playing outside ).
As a camper on our property, you are welcome to explore the homestead at your leisure and take in the sights and smells of the farm. We also have several ponds that bring in an array of wildlife that can be great for bird watching or maybe even catching a few bluegills. We have a new couple of bald eagles that built a nest in a towering white pine along the shore of the big pond, providing opportunities for eagle sightings and photography. There are multiple trails throughout the property available for hiking as well
We are a 1/4 mile from the lake of Shell Lake which has one of the nicest public beaches in northern WI and there are lots of eating and shopping options within a short distance in all directions.
We like to say that we live in the country with the convenience of city amenities only a hop skip and a jump away.

Also known as the Hershey Homestead, our property is home to what we like to call the funny farm. We have lots of kids and all of them are involved in 4h so that means we have lots of animals. Chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks, goats, sheep, pigs, beef, and horses each have a home here as well as dogs and cats. It's rarely quiet but the chorus of sounds you hear can be an interesting mix of the mating calls of the peacocks to the mooing of the cows to the howls of coyotes at night. (And maybe some of our seven kids playing outside ).
As a camper on our property, you are welcome to explore the homestead at your leisure and take in the sights and smells of the farm. We also have several ponds that bring in an array of wildlife that can be great for bird watching or maybe even catching a few bluegills. We have a new couple of bald eagles that built a nest in a towering white pine along the shore of the big pond, providing opportunities for eagle sightings and photography. There are multiple trails throughout the property available for hiking as well
We are a 1/4 mile from the lake of Shell Lake which has one of the nicest public beaches in northern WI and there are lots of eating and shopping options within a short distance in all directions.
We like to say that we live in the country with the convenience of city amenities only a hop skip and a jump away.

What a beautiful property! We loved camping in an oak grove in the fall time - golden and heavenly! The lake was beautiful, and even though it's the weather wasn't conducive to swimming, we thoroughly enjoyed reading on the dock. Secluded little nook close to beaches, parks, & towns. Not far from main highway & a lovely little drive down some maintained gravel roads. Caitlin is super friendly & provided a perfect spot to rest for a couple days before I started the next leg of my journey.
The hosts are close by if you need anything, so even though you're secluded in the woods, there is a comfort knowing people are close by in case of emergency. They also supplied firewood, an electrical outlet, large fire pit, & big picnic table next to the parking pad. They even have trails right on the property! It felt like staying at a campground, without the chaos that campgrounds & RV parks can sometimes bring. It was a great last minute decision and I will definitely look forward to staying here again.

This site is amazing! It’s our favorite spot now and we’ve highly recommended it to several friends. It’s beautiful and clean and feels secluded yet safe. We’re grateful to have the chance to be on the lake. My boys saw a porcupine on the trail which was a highlight. The stars are amazing. The beach is perfect and private. 10 out of 10 all around.

This was a beautiful campsite with an amazing beach!! Our trip was very rainy and cold, but we were still able to enjoy a campfire and make the trek down to the beach. The portapotty was pristine and the campsite was easy to find, as well as close to amnicon state park and about 1/2 hour to Pattison state park. Site is completely private.

Amazing completely private campsite with stunning private beach! I couldn't recommend it more. The locked gate, private clean outhouse, picnic table, and large firepit were great touches. The only things I would note are that there is no shade at all in the camping area, so maybe bring an easy-up if it's hot. Also the outhouse light is very high and bright, interfering slightly with dark night star gazing and tent sleeping. Would be great if it were lower or had an off option. Overall, one of the very best campsites I have ever visited. Thank you! We will be back.

Unfortunately, we didn't realize that the camp spot (fire pit) was right off the side of the home on the property.
We were not comfortable camping so close to someone's house, and while they were there.

To quote my son after asking what went well, " literally everything went well "! That's the truth. Beautiful and secluded. The beach was our favorite part. We made many clay projects and forts with driftwood on the beach. The site is also a 5 minute drive to Amnicon State Park where there are many waterfalls and trails to explore.
