On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been unused since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north into the national forest. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site. There is no leash required for good pups. If your pup is aggressive with other dogs or people please leash them when on the hiking trails. If your pups would stay in your campsite no leash is required. Other campers may be hiking past your campsite on the trails that is still over 100 feet away from others campsites. You may run into others on the trails where others dogs may not be leashed. If your dog is aggressive to other dogs even if yours is on leash if you can’t control them please muzzle them. This property is for sale if you may be interested. Please ask and I’ll send you the details.

(ps. this reflective effect is also in play for the northern lights if you're lucky) Amenities: ZERO! Well, other than two fire pits and a propane grill (BYO propane if you want to use that) Expect a lumpy lawn with space for up to 8 tents located right on top of a 100 foot cliff leading straight down to lake superior. If needed, showers, bathrooms, etc. are located 1.2 miles away at Big Bay Town Park. Adventure Basecamp at River's Edge

River's Edge is a four season adventure company in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, outfitting adventurers with equipment and guidance. The property is located on the Manitowish River, Heart of Vilas County bike trail, and Iron County snowmobile trails. By car we're about eight minutes from WinMan Trails, ten minutes from MECCA Trails and Mercer, three minutes from Manitowish Waters. As we're right on the bike path, riding to lunch or dinner is easy, with lots of yummy options close by. We have two campsites on our property, primarily for adventurers looking for a central basecamp location from which to go do all the fun things we have available in the Northwoods. Campsites are located on the west end of the property, in proximity to all the activities, and include full hookups, a picnic table and fire ring. Site One is closest to the river and bike path. It's more secluded and separate from the main lodge area. Of the two sites, this is the best if you plan to hang around camp and chill. It does have trees lining the parking space, so if you have a trailer above 11'-13' be careful backing in. Site Two is right off of the main parking area next to the lodge building. While we're working on natural barrier growth, it is kind of in the middle of activity during our busy seasons. It is, however, the easiest to back into with a large trailer. If you're looking for a convenient place to bring your RV or trailer and don't mind being less secluded, this is for you. If you're looking for a national forest experience, this is not for you. The main lodge is open for use until 10pm-ish. There are couches, tables and board games available for guests. A bathroom is available for campers in the lodge, however there is no shower. We highly recommend The Manitowish Waters Athletic Club for shower facilities, hot tub, and pool. Day passes are reasonably priced and the facility is extremely well appointed. It's about three minutes by car or ten by bike. Campers get a discount on rental equipment. Wifi is available in the lodge. Our sites are open year-round, although water service will be turned off when temps are below freezing.

This little chunk of land is a place that offers peace, solitude and an unplugging from life's hectic pace. Our 9 acre wooded lot is a safe, secluded and woodsy retreat overlooking the beautiful Chippewa River. The shallow river is perfect for wading, tubing, paddling & fishing. The undergrowth is a carpet of ferns & native plants. Birders will love this spot. We also encourage bringing your dog friends. We have several fire rings and encourage responsible campfire hangouts. *Please do not bring firewood. We provide dry wood & dead fall may be used for campfire, but ABSOLUTELY NO CUTTING from live trees, please. TENT site: Tent site is pretty basic-- it fits one large tent (12'x15') pad and has a fire ring, a cooking grate and picnic table. While it does not have electricity, there is an outlet on the property to charge phones, etc. CAMPERS/VANS: We have 30 Amp electric hookup available for small campers! Bring your pop-up, pull-behind, camper van or roof tent. Intermediate trailer-backing skills are necessary to reach the camper site. BATHROOM: Our well maintained outhouse is a short walk from the tent site, and stays stocked with TP. It also has a solar light for night-time visits. *We do not allow hunting, shooting or ATV riding on the property. Archery practice is Ok however. ** As we continue our A-Frame cabin build, you may see some construction clutter. We will never be working during your stay, however - you'll have the place to yourself unless otherwise agreed upon. Feel free to view the cabin from the outside but please do not enter the structure.

Welcome to Happy Creek Hollow, previously called Camp Blue Rock, your cozy hideaway in the north woods! We’re thrilled to share our little slice of heaven—30 private acres perfect for makin’ unforgettable memories. There’s now a small cabin on the property (not available for rent), but the campsite remains open for camping with your travel trailer or tent. We’ve spruced up the site to make your campin’ experience even comfier. Got questions before ya book? Just holler—I’d love to chat! Your campsite is a one-of-a-kind retreat, surrounded by wild, untouched woods with no neighbors in sight. Close to the road but tucked away private-like, you’ll have the whole 30 acres to yourself. There’s plenty of room for tents or a camper. There is a small pond in the campsite area (great frog catching says my 7-year-old). Spend your days trompin’ through the trees, sittin’ ‘round the campfire, or explorin’ the Penokee Mountain range’s rugged beauty. For the adventurous, a private trail leads to Happy Creek Flowage, a 10-acre lake ‘bout a half-mile hike away (30 minutes round-trip on foot). It’s a bit of a trek—expect hilly, mountainous terrain—but a paddle boat awaits for a peaceful float. We are working on getting a dock back there but until then expect to wear high boots or to get wet walking to the paddle boat. There is no public access, so it’s all yours! ATVs or wheelers can also zip along the trail for faster fun. The area’s brimming with summer adventures—fishin’, hikin’, foragin’, golfin’, or ATV ridin’ on nearby trails. Copper Falls State Park, just 6.5 miles north, offers stunnin’ views, while Drop Tine restaurant in Cayuga (3.5 miles south) serves up a mean fish fry and burgers.

Escape to the wilderness! This private three-acre wooded site is perfect for anyone seeking a secluded camping experience. With 300 feet of frontage on the East Fork of the Chippewa River, easy access to countless lakes and rivers, and thousands of acres of the Chequamegon National Forest at your doorstep, this property won’t disappoint any outdoor enthusiast. Note: When you rent our property you get the whole thing. We are not a campground. This is a private 3-acre parcel on the Chippewa River. You will not be sharing the site or facilities with anyone else. There’s plenty of space to set up your camper or tent on the gravel pad, or you can meander down the cleared path to the river’s edge, where you’ll find your own private park complete with a fire ring, picnic table, two tent platforms (10'x12' each) and breathtaking views of the flowing river. Note: the river camping area is approximately 150 yards down a walking path. The flat and level gravel RV/parking pad offers both 30- and 50-amp service and accommodates campers up to approximately 20 feet in length, with pull-in access (not a pull-through site). Water is available from our new well on the property. The gravel pad is about 60 feet in diameter. A full-size truck (F150) with a 20' trailer should be able to pull in and fully turn around into position on the pad. There are multiple fishing and recreation lakes within a 30 minute drive, hundreds of miles of nearby ATV/UTV trails to explore, and many mountain bike trailheads are only about 30 miles from this location as well.

Located just down from Bayview Beach, our property sits nestled between Lake Superior and the Onion River, which runs through the property just behind the cabin. You will have a private beach on Lake Superior all to yourself. While neighbors may be around from time to time, especially on weekends, you will not have to share anything but the sound of waves hitting the shore and birds chirping as the sun sets in the west. You can set up a tent by the cabin or on the beach side in the grass or sand areas—or even on the beach itself if you'd like to catch a sunrise. There is also room for an RV, teardrop trailer, or camper van, if that's what you'd like to bring. A fire ring and firewood are provided, along with some chairs. Kayaks are available upon request, but you are responsible for safe operation and for understanding when weather conditions are not suitable for their use. At this time, the cabin is not included or open for use, nor is there power available for outside hookups. There is no running water (besides the river and Lake Superior), and no toilets on site. However, you will pass public toilets on your way in—they are roughly 90 seconds away by car. Otherwise, you are responsible for bringing a camp toilet. Pets are welcome but must be leashed when others are around and well-behaved. Please dispose of waste properly and respect the natural surroundings. We've had this property since my siblings and I were kids, so please be respectful of the property and neighbors and treat others as you would like to be treated in return. You should not be bothered by anyone. Please practice pack-in/pack-out and clean up after yourselves. Beyond that, nearby attractions include the city of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands, a short 15-minute drive away.
