The hosts were extemely gracious, responsive and accomodating. We have quite a bit of equipment and they were super helpful with getting all of it to and from the site. The property is beautiful. The site is private and spacious. We have a very large tent and we had plenty of room to stretch out. The camp was quiet and relaxing. We highly reccomend the geocache map and trails. They take you all over the peoperty. The trails are well maintained and marked. We loved walking the property and seeing the sheep and wildlife. Of course, the highlight was meeting the dogs. Especially watching Scout chase butterflies.

Weekend Trip to Appalachian Retreat Camp

We loved tent camping at Appalachian Retreat! Our site was huge and very secluded! The entire property is extremely quiet and far enough away from everything to feel completely private, with the exception of the occasional vehicle passing along the gravel road. The site itself was very well maintained. The composting toilet and shed were very clean! Bugs were not too much of an issue until nighttime, but we did not encounter any issues with wasps/yellow jackets/hornets. There were definitely some pretty large bugs and spiders, but they were overall harmless. Our favorite part was hearing the coyotes passing through each night! We also got to hear an eastern screech owl on our second night, which was so cool! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our camping trip!
