Offering a lovely, personal campsite area surrounded by beautiful trees nestled in the back of a ranch with horses (and chickens) just on the outskirts of the small, charming town of Yelm. (In some of the pictures you will see the horses in the area of the camp, but whenever there are campers they will not be turned out there.) There is 20 amp electric (which can safely power a 30 amp rv unless you run too many things at once) and water (hose). There is a porta-potty and a shower shed with a tankless water heater for your convenience. We also offer the option of a small bunk room in the barn. Heated and cooled (fan) with a small "kitchen" area, it has a pull out futon which sleeps 2 and requires you supply your own bedding and towels. 1 Hour to Mt. Rainier National Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia National Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing aplenty. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses. There is also a fabulous movie theater. And only 15 minutes to the Red Wind Casino. There is a railroad track next to the property, but it is only used on Tues. and Thurs. between 10 am and 1 pm when a short train passes by and then returns. Rarely, it may have an additional passing but not often and it has never run after dark or early morning. (It is a military train so pretty punctual). (Also, as we are only a 5 acre property, we are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. They are county roads though and not highly traveled for the most part.) **Trigger Warnings: We are near the military base of JBLM and so you will occasionally hear their military doings. Country neighbors occasionally do some target practice, so you may hear some shooting. As we are a horse property, we will also require that everyone sign a release of liability waiver and will require all adults to show legal ID upon arrival. * We require a completed profile with a picture before we accept a booking.

This is a 10 acre camp of wooded hills. This campsite currently has an rv pad for rent and a featured camp site with a hobbit house. Soon to be more tent sites. There is a firewood stand on site and bundles are only $5! The hobbit house is built back into a hillside and is underground, round doors, and arched ceiling stays true to hobbit architecture. This is a glamping opportunity. Inside the hobbit house there is a full bed for two, with a quality mattress and an adjustable bed frame that has a motor to lift body to sit up or you can raise legs. There is power inside and a small microwave for cooking. 30 feet away is a sink for cleaning and good drinking water. There is a bathroom area a short way down the hill with a flushing toilet and heated shower. Outdoors includes a fire pit, a few small springs and ponds and lots of trails to explore. Your shelter and mattress will be top notch, however this is still a campground and you need to be prepared as a camper. Currently we do not have a refrigerator, bring your own cooler. No silverware, or plates are provided. You can heat things in the microwave or cook over the fire. Bring whatever utensils are needed. Within a couple miles of our location is Lewis River Golf Course, as well as popular water spotd of Merwin Lake Park, and floating the Lewis River. We have a scavenger hunt set up on the trails of our property if you want the challenge of finding our targets as you walk the trails.

We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey. The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups! Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

Tucked Away Retreat evolved from empty acreage to an easy retreat from the city and an opportunity to share our love of the rural life. Located in the Chapman area of Scappoose, this area is rich in logging history; the Crown Zellerbach trail is an old logging road and now an 18 mile hiking/biking "story board" of the life and culture of both the Native American Indians that lived in the area and the evolution of logging. Just over the peak of the CZ trail (which is approximately 3 miles from our property) is an old mine, just one example of many hidden areas to explore. Our retreat is just 45 minutes from Portland, yet feels a world away. You can relax in the quiet or explore the trail, the small towns that dot Highway 30 or head to the river. If you continue West on Highway 30, you will pass through many small logging towns, the old Trojan Nuclear site and eventually land in Astoria on the coast. Learn more about this land: Tucked Away Retreat is quiet and peaceful yet 45 minutes from Portland. Located on 4 private acres, watch the deer wander through the property or the hawks float overhead. Bring your bikes and hit the Crown Zellerbach trail, or hike it instead. We are located approximately 0.8 mile from the trail. Visit Sauvie's Island, the largest inland island in the United States. Paddle or kayak on Scappoose Bay, head up to the Trojan frisbee-golf course, or just relax on the lawn. We are also an easy drive from Vernonia, the Nehalem River and Big Eddy Park. We offer two sites; Site A is on flat gravel that enjoys full sun. Site A is across from the large grassy area, perfect for sunning and relaxing. Site B is on gravel on the upper drive and is shaded most of the day. Site B is best suited for camper vans, truck campers or small trailers due to trees along the back curve of the driveway. Large trailers/RV's and motorhomes will fit in Site B but you may need to back in. Site B is backed by our private, small shop. The two sites are separated by trees. Both sites have 120v, 30amp and water hookups. The property can accommodate one or two additional RV's in spots adjacent to both sites for multiple vehicle groups; contact us for more information if you are a larger group. Additional vehicles are an extra charge. Please be aware that we are RV only, we have no outhouse, so we cannot accommodate tents or folks who want to sleep in their vehicle. We will consider an exception if you have a RV/trailer and kids who want to sleep in a tent. Please reach out to us prior to booking for this exception. We do not allow "shower" tents. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. Weekend Trip to Alder Grove Retreat

Despite a slight mixup at the start, Dawson was a very gracious host and we had a comfortable stay at the Eagle View Cabin. The quarters are cozy with mini-kitchenette, bed, and loveseat all within arm's reach of each other. The outdoor rear porch shower & composting toilet worked fine. The propane room heater gets the cabin quite toasty, even on cool nights. If the weather is good, the front deck is fun for eating or watching the sky.

Weekend Trip to Hobbit House Experience

My friend and I had the best, most relaxing one night stay at the hobbit hole. There are two other sites nearby but you can’t see them so it felt very private. There is a neighboring dog, but we brought our reactive pup and had no issues. The site has lovely grass, a huge fire pit, ample table space for setting up a camp kitchen, and a gorgeous view of trees and a ridgeline. Rob recently installed a nice flushing toilet right at the site (plus a sink with potable water) which was such a luxury. He came by once to check on us and was very welcoming, making sure everything was working ok. The hobbit house itself was a DREAM!! So beautifully crafted, and if you’re a LOTR fan you’ll love all of the small details. Felt more like a high quality hotel room with its own yard! Bed was comfy, and had fresh sheets and a comforter. The room stayed quite cool all the time, so we did use one of the provided sleeping bags as an additional comforter. It would be the perfect escape for a hot summer night! FYI there was quite a bit of close-by road noise (luckily not at night/you can’t hear it from inside), but I think it was made up for by the chorus of frogs at night and bird song in the morning. Rob’s directions were easy to follow, and there are very clear signs on the property of how to find the Hobbit Hole site. The last bit of road up to the site was a bit too rough for our city sedan (sorta a steeper switch back gravel road) so we just parked at a nice flat spot halfway up instead!

Such a charming lil spot! Really enjoyed our weekend at the camper. You can tell they have put a lot of thought into the space. The surrounding area is gorgeous. We kayaked at Silver Lake (12 min drive away) but there is river access just down the street as well. Loved the DVD selection and nostalgia it brought 😊

Blackberry Cabin offers a perfect slice of solitude! The peace that came from listening to rain pattering on the roof and the wind chimes singing softly along with the warblers and sparrows was the perfect anecdote to the stress and business of everyday life. My dog, Abby, and I loved the off-leash walks on the trails among the birches! The cabin is wonderfully cozy and beautifully designed- the detailing on the ceiling of the bed nook was especially lovely. The cabin is outfitted with all the essentials- all I needed was my clothes and toothbrush! Brian is an excellent host. He made me feel very welcome on his property, showed me around the cabin, and then the place was mine to enjoy for the rest of my stay. I’m looking forward to returning sometime soon!

I almost don’t want to share the experience, as to avoid bringing others to a spot we plan to revisit! But I must. My husband and I took our two dogs to Brian’s cabin for an “all to yourself” quiet getaway. It was exactly what we needed - Away from the loud and chaotic world. We spent the whole time walking with our dogs (off leash and able to fully enjoy the nature and space around them) or posted up around the gas fire, listening to the woods around us. When shut in for the night, we had just the right amount of kitchen gadgets to enjoy simple meals for two. When waking up to the sunny forest around us, there was a stocked shower with thoughtful natural/essential oil infused shampoo/conditioner/body wash. For any point in the trip, there was a plethora of blankets for us and the dogs. It was really everything we wanted. As soon as we got into reception range, I immediately started notifying friends and family about how they needed to visit this place. It is the recharging-kind-of-place we Oregonians all long for amidst the overwhelming routine of life. Book it now, before I beat you to it!
