Rural farm camp in Yakima's west valley. This relaxed campsite is bordered by fruit orchards and farms on a very quiet dead end road. Over two acres of field grass surrounding by rolling hills with views of farms, cows, horses, and the eastern foothills of the Cascade mountains. Want the off-grid feeling without giving up all the comforts of home? Come stay at our little retired DNR Fire Watch Cabin in Trout Lake, WA, tucked right at the foot of Mt. Adams. The cabin sleeps up to 2 adults and 2 kids, with a queen bed and a fold-out cot tucked underneath. It's true off-grid, with solar and battery lights and propane heat, but you're not totally roughing it. Just a short walk to the barn you'll find a full bathroom with shower and a kitchenette (fridge, microwave, coffee pot, air fryer), reserved just for cabin guests. There's a porta-potty right next to the cabin too, so no midnight walks to the barn. We provide all linens and towels and can set you up with some basic cooking utensils if you need. If you need to get some work done while you're here, we have Starlink and reliable Wi-Fi. There's a barbecue right outside your cabin for your use, plus a fire pit (campfires welcome whenever there's no burn ban - we are in one right now Aug-Sept). This is an off grid cabin, and thus there is no AC. We have installed screens on the windows so they all can be opened, but it can It can get quite warm there when it gets into the 80s. Please consider this when making your booking during higher temperature seasons. You're not just near the outdoors here. You're at the front door of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, 1.3 million acres of old-growth forest, alpine lakes, lava tubes, and glaciers wrapped around Mt. Adams. Here's what that looks like season to season from our front yard: Summer: Prime time in the forest. Hike, swim, fish, and mountain bike; the Sleeping Beauty trail is minutes away for a big-view climb. Cool off in the Guler Ice Caves, a 2,000-foot lava tube where you can wander past frozen stalactites and stalagmites even in the heat of summer, or explore the neighboring Cheese Caves, an old natural cheese cellar you climb down into. Chase the reflection shot at Takhlakh Lake, where crystal-clear water mirrors Mt. Adams, or spend a day at Goose Lake and Council Lake. For the ambitious, Mt. Adams offers sport climbing routes and the South Climb up the glaciated summit, one of the most iconic experiences in the whole forest. And you're still just 30 minutes from White Salmon and Hood River for wineries when you want a break from the trail. Fall: My favorite season. Unbeatable colors through the forest, the Hood River fishery has been on fire lately, and it's a beautiful, quiet time to wander the backcountry as the crowds thin out. Winter: A snow playground. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing straight into the national forest, plus we're sled-friendly: ample parking for snowmobile trailers and a shop where you can wrench on your sleds. Or just bring a good book and hibernate. Spring: Gorgeous up here, and turkey season is a favorite. Wildflower meadows start opening up in the high country, and there's room for boats and trailers if you're headed to Drano Lake (about 30 min) for springer salmon. If you like exploring, the Big Lava Bed, a 12,500-acre crater of crevasses, small caves, and rock formations, is a wild, otherworldly day trip about 40 minutes out from us. If you are coming up to Mount Adams or Gifford Pinchot to mountain bike or ride dirt bikes, we do have an adjacent workshop and a full set of tools. If you need to wrench on those or your snowmobiles in the winter, let us know in advance and we can arrange access to the workshop for you. We can arrange rentals of e-mountain bikes if you wish. 2 nights at The Khohay Farm

This was the loveliest cabin! It had everything I needed and so much more. It was cozy, had so many thoughtful touches, quiet, clean, and beautiful! Highly recommend and can’t wait to be back. Prettiest outhouse you’ll ever come across too. Read that in someone else’s comment and didn’t know what to think till I saw it for myself. Everything about this place is thoughtfully designed and put together. Thank you for such a wonderful experience and sharing your farm and produce with me :)

The couch turns into another double bed and the cabinets above fold out to create another bed.

The adorable, well kept historic cabin located in a gorgeous area, is so homey and comfy. But best of all the host, James, is so service oriented and genuinely strives to make your visit perfect. There's a cabin journal, and the above sentiments are documented in previous entries. James loves meeting people, making him an awesome host. He also is sensitive to folks who prefer complete privacy. An upscale "fire cabin" lookout experience, with bedding, battery operated lights, gas heater, separate bath/shower/kitchenette with electricity, and a battery operated turntable in the cabin, with an excellent vinyl collection! Deluxe!

James is a great host and the stay was even better than advertised! The cabin is incredibly cozy and peaceful to sleep in. Other pluses are hot shower, perfect stay for our dog, cute towns nearby.

Perfect little cabin. Quaint by cozy. Would stay again but one thing to note is there is hot water showers listed, however it only lasted for about 1 minute. Not a problem if you stay during the warm summer months, but during the chilly fall months it’s worth knowing

We absolutely loved our stay here! My fiancé and I stayed after he proposed to me at the park, and it was the perfect private and beautiful place to celebrate such a special moment. We wanted to camp and have an off-the-grid experience, and this stay gave us exactly the peaceful, secluded feel we were looking for while still being incredibly comfortable. The hosts were amazing, kind and welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate our engagement. I highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful getaway!

Mary and Lloyd have built something truly special here. Stunning views, magical forests, the bathtub of my dreams… it’s about as close to perfect as they come! Mary and Lloyd were wonderful, there to help you with whatever you need and very knowledgeable about the area. You can tell how much they love to host and how much they care about the property in the way they talk about it and all the wonderful attention to detail, time and effort they put into it. Couldn’t recommend a property more!

For hospitality alone 10/10. James made sure we were taken care of. Such a tranquil and quiet spot, can’t remember the last time I slept so soundly away from home. Great as a homebase for exploring the surrounding area, or focusing on a project, book, etc with no distractions. Can’t wait to come back!

We had the absolute best birthday weekend. James is an amazing host. He really went above & beyond running power out to the cabin so I could use my CPAP machine. There was even a turn table hooked up to a battery so we could listen to music on vinyl! And the stars at night were beautiful. Thank you James!!

The Dragonfly Den is a 10x20 canvas walled cabin with a wooden floor, twin beds, private fully equipped outdoor kitchen, private bbq, private outhouse with composting toilet and access to shared shower and shared firepit.

Weekend Trip to Alder Grove Retreat

Had a really restful and restorative weekend in this little cabin! Dawson was super chill, got a couple things in need of fixing done quick, and was very respectful about privacy. The sauna was great and a really nice add-on since it was an extremely rainy weekend. The cabin smelled like fresh wood (love!) and everything was functional, but not perfect or precious, which is where the real relaxation happens for me. It was an easy, low-barrier destination for a solo trip where all I really wanted was deep decompression within four cozy walls, and it definitely delivered!

Had a great stay! After camping in Olympic NP, we stayed three nights before heading straight to Mt. Rainier SP. We ended up staying and enjoying the place more than expected, since we're usually constantly on the go exploring. It was a great experience, and we would love to come back.

Check in was really easy and it was so close to Rainier! We got in pretty late and were so happy to see this cabin lived up to expectations. The bed was the comfiest and cosiest we had slept in on our whole trip! Would definitely recommend.

Amazing set up! very easy to get to and had everything you could need. very warm and comfortable at night thanks to all the blankets. cute little kitchen with a few amenities you could need in the morning. owner very responsive with messages.
