There was originally a camper parked here with a roof over it while the main house was built back in th 1970s. When the home was finished the camper was moved out and it was turned into the cabin. It originally had a wood stove but it was always to hot so we replaced it with an electric heater and at the same time remodeled the interior. It is very comfortable for two to three people as it only has the bunk beds, microwave, small closet and dining table with 4 chairs including a rocker and a cabinet with pots, pans and silverware for your convenience. Learn more about this land: Country cabin is on the treeline at the base of O'tool mt. across the street from Lk. Roosevelt. Includes bunk beds, frig, microwave, hot plate, coffee pot, toaster, dining table, small closet, firepit with firewood and horseshoe pits with shoes. One mile to boat launch. Ten miles to nearest loaf of bread. Close to logging roads. You will have aprox. one acre to yourself. Quiet and secluded. We are close by if ever there is anything you need. Recently we were very close to the Crown Creek fire and a hotshot crew came and "prept" our property and cut down a lot of the underbrush therefore changing the landscape around the cabin so the main picture has changed to the current one.

Please bring lanterns, flashlights, headlamps etc. The futon is a queen size and I can provide sheets and bedding but prefer you bring your own if possible as we have no laundry facilities on the ranch. ***There is a very limited supply of potable water on the property so you are required to pack in your drinking and cooking water. Washing and shower water is provided.*** In the early spring and late fall we cover the screened walls of the hut with clear window plastic so that the nights are not very cold inside the screen house. We provide a propane buddy heater that is safe for indoor use to help keep the space warm for you!! A hot water shower with equally impressive views is close to the straw house but still as private as you need it to be. Once owned by the Lael family (whom the road is named after), this land supported lots of horses in it's past. The Lael family homsteaded this area, raising horses on their acerage and the original Lael house is still standing on the lower section of the property. Old and beautiful apple, plum, cherry and pear trees still thrive in the orchard they planted along with massive willow trees. I'm honored to continue the Lael's love for the equine with my own herd of horses. Horseback riding is available upon request and for an additional fee of $75 per person for a ride.

The hallway ends in an open-plan living room and kitchen area with luxury features such as 15-foot-high ceilings, a chandelier, and stone lights The large, fully equipped kitchen includes a waterfall island bar that serves as a dining room table with seating for four people and a place to put drinks and food. Nestled by the large windows with a view of the valley, the living room includes an oversized couch with an ottoman. We have a fabulous master bedroom featuring the following: King-sized bed 2-night stands Dresser and a coat hanger Master bathroom with a uniquely shaped tub and a rain shower for maximum relaxation. This is our second year at Matt and Susan’s place and we plan to return next year again. We love this spot! My sons and I spent the weekend in solitude enjoying good food, board games, and the river! Susan’s fresh cinnamon rolls are the cherry on top of a wonderful experience. We enjoyed swimming and paddle boarding around from the private dock, playing games by lamplight, and watching the wildlife around us. Highly recommend! We’ll be back!

They are extremely kind hearted hosts and have a breathtakingly beautiful property along the Pend Orielle River they take great stewardship of. The camp site is very spacious, private, and well accommoted with amenities. We camp a fair amount and this is the best we've ever stayed at. Very grateful for their wonderful hospitalty and for making our weekend very special!

Weekend Trip to Bearcat acres

Fantastic spot for tent camping! Our site was a beautiful little glen, surrounded by trees, with a babbling brook running at the edge. The ground is flat and mostly level, so it worked well for our 10 person tent. Because of Red Flag conditions, we didn't get to use it, but Warner had a fire pit and wood already at the site. There was a large cable spindle that functioned as a good size table. The site has a little trail that leads back into the woods for a relaxing hike if you want. Warner provides an indoor bathroom and potable water from an artesian well, just yards from the "entrance" to our site. There was even a super friendly cat that would stroll through to say 'Hi' once in awhile. It was a fantastically beautiful and relaxing place to spend a long weekend.

My son and I had a great time here. The hosts were great - super flexible with the fact that we didn't show up until about 9pm. They waited up to show us around. The next day, they were gone and it was just me and my son in the cabin, enjoying the lake for the whole weekend. There is some noise from vehicles driving by since the property is just off the road, but it's a secluded part of the state and it wasn't bad enough to cause any problems at all. I do recommend bringing a fan if you're visiting in the warmer months, but it cooled down enough at night that we had no problems sleeping. On top of that, the night sky was perfectly clear and the Milky Way was out in all its glory. I would definitely stay here again.

5 nights at Riverfront Solitude

This was our second stay with Susan and Matt, and we loved it so much the first time that we booked another trip just a month later. Without question, this is the most special campsite we’ve ever experienced. The location is incredible—right on the river, nestled in a serene grove of cedar and larch. There’s a unique and calming energy in the trees that makes the whole place feel magical. The river was the perfect temperature, and we spent hours swimming, lounging on the dock, watching eagles hunt, and soaking in the breathtaking sunsets. At night, the sky comes alive with stars, completely free from city lights. Susan and Matt are the ideal hosts—respectful of privacy, yet always just a text away if you need anything. Staying here feels like coming home, and we can’t wait to return again.

We loved our 4 nights at Taylor's Knoll. She is a very welcoming host and the site was perfect, exactly as described and quiet. Located only 5-10 minutes from Hill's Resort and Luby Bay campground, it was easy for us to spend time at the lake. Highly recommended!

The day we showed up to camp was the same day there were level 3 fire evacuations. The site was magical until then. Fearful we left at night and slept in our car the next town over. During the day when winds were down we enjoyed the spot thoroughly.

The pathway to the toilet is lit with low level lights to find your way at night.

This is, without question, our new favorite campsite—we loved it so much we booked our next stay before we even left! Susan and Matt are exceptional hosts. They welcomed us with a tour and let us know we’d have as much privacy as we wanted. They always texted before stopping by, usually to drop off some of Susan’s incredible baked goods. We highly recommend the optional Forest Therapy session with Matt—a guided, meditative walk that invites you to slow down and deeply connect with the land. It was a highlight of our stay. The property, in Matt’s family for over 60 years, is lovingly cared for. The campsite is tucked beside a peaceful river and feels wonderfully secluded. There’s a tent platform with nearby parking, a well-maintained composting toilet with nighttime path lights, and an Aussie-style outdoor shower. Hammocks hang easily in the shaded trees. A short path leads to a picnic table, fire ring, and then down to a dock where a canoe is moored. We swam daily—the river is deep and slow-moving. Wildlife sightings included deer, bald eagles, osprey, and even an otter and beaver! This place is all about peace, nature, and reconnection—not a spot for parties. Between the land, the river, and the warm hospitality (and baked goods!), we can't recommend it enough.
