1 night at Marmot House Old Growth Forest

If you're looking for an experience in a remote forest which is also near civilization (and not far from breathtaking views of Mt. Hood), and a place which feels wild yet cozy, look no further! I had a very enjoyable stay, the hosts were welcoming, and it was quiet & peaceful. If you need a ton of elbow room for your vehicle, it might feel a bit on the cramped side, but for my car it was no problem. I hope to stay again soon!

I loved staying here specifically for the sauna and cold plunge!!! The cold plunge is a park of the creek that is sectioned off into the perfect place to plunge. The tent was warm and the bedd were comfy. there are restaurants a 5 min drive away which is a huge plus!

2 nights at Crystal Creek Cabin

Rachel's place was a amazing! It had a great view of the waterfall/stream and we enjoyed all the wild life while drinking coffee on the porch. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking to ski or hike around mount hood.

Welcome to Marmot House. Tucked back in a patch of old-growth forest, the campsite I stayed at was near the communal fire gathering area, which I took advantage of. I arrived on my motorcycle, and Jim and Arehen were incredibly accommodating, making sure I had everything I needed. I spent too much time riding around on the mountain to explore the Marmot House as much as I would have liked. Good excuse for a return trip

What a fantastic place to stay. We were greeted at the gate by Noah, who gave us all the information we needed to have a comfortable stay. (Including where we would find an excellent dinner, just a few minutes down the road.) The tent was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Restroom and shower were a very short walk. Plenty of parking and dog friendly. The other guests were quiet and respectful. Absolutely recommend this place to others.

I loved staying here! It was dark and wet when we arrived and they let us stay at their Huckleberry Cabin. They built it themselves, it was so nice and comfortable. Next time I pass through, I know where I’ll be staying!

Peace on Earth offered the relaxation I craved on my solo weekend getaway. Brian was a friendly host who texted to check in when I was getting close to arriving; he was waiting for me when I arrived. He carefully showed me around the cabin he'd built and made sure I felt at home. It's clear that a lot of care went into crafting this beautiful wood cabin. The bed alcove, surrounded by windows with views of trees, offered an ideal place to journal or read. I wish I could have stayed longer! Thank you!

Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail. A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River. Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property. Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, & a container of water for each site.

Our camp is right off the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway just minutes away from Portland Women's Forum and Crown Point, the Jewel of the Columbia. Our facilities include an outdoor shower, a solar-powered composting toilet, fresh water, fire pits, and plenty of flat ground surrounded by trees for excellent camping! Please read this whole message so you are not surprised when you get here! Note: The use of the sauna, hot tub, and composting toilet are only for Glamp bookings! The campsites and tipi use the port-a-potty and have the use of an on-demand outdoor shower. Our home and farm is on two acres. Your tent site, is all in our ample acreage. Marmot House is a lush 13 acres of mostly old growth forest in the foothills of Mt. Hood, right on the Historic Oregon Trail. It is close to hiking, biking, and forested waterfalls a short drive away. We have beautiful short hikes on trails in our forest on the property. World class windsurfing 30 miles away in Hood River, as well as more amazing waterfall hikes in the Columbia River Gorge. The Sandy River recreation area is just up the road from us and we are 10 mins. from The Sandy Ridge Trail with its 17 miles of mountain bike trails. Each campsite is tucked in the woods and has access our communal fire pit at our gathering space. Our well water tastes amazing! The is not a developed campground, it is our home. We see ourselves as stewards of this hidden forest gem and welcome people to enjoy its beauty. We are avid campers and recently spend 9 months in our teardrop trailer off grid on public lands. Living here we are three family members, one renter and short term volunteer traveler workers. We all work from home, Arehn a spiritual life coach, who loves to cook, Jim a software engineer and disc golfer, son Ian, software engineer and writer and Zuzu, forest fire fighter and logger lives in a separate apartment on the property.

The cabin is constructed from local trees we've harvested using our sawmill as well as Redwood and Douglas Fir salvaged from an old water tower deconstructed locally on the mountain. This is the perfect rustic, quiet and private retreat for all seasons. We now have a King size bed in the cabin for up to 2 people. This is a one of kind rustic experience.
