Our home and farm is on two acres. Your tent site, is all in our ample acreage.
Although pets are welcome, we expect them to be well-behaved around our two cats, our own big sweetie of a pup, Frejya, our two crazy goats Cupcake and Muffin, and our free-ranging chickens. Expect to hear some animal noises here on the farm.
Our property literally borders the scenic highway. Because we are so close, you can hear the sunset-view-seeking drivers, motorcycle riders, and yes, racers who come out this way for a spin on one of the most scenic highways in the world. Traffic quiets down after dark and mornings are quite 'chill'.

This property was once part of a 200 acre cattle ranch turned into a Christian community. The families shared meals, home-schooled their children and had a home-based church. They raised their own food in a 3 acre garden and orchard along with chickens and cows for milk, meet and eggs. Two of the original families still own
some of the acres although the community was dissolved and much of the property sold to other people.

We love sharing our beautiful land with those that love nature. The sunsets, the peace and the birdsong are the best. Pets are welcome and you can walk through the forest with them on dirt pathways or keep them in your campsite. Please keep pets out of our area, as our dog is very protective and has been known to have scuffles with other animals approaching. Grassy areas are available to set up tents or have picnics. There are firepits for when the burn ban is not on (a wheelbarrow full of wood for $5). The campsites are large and spaced quite far from each other. Please stay on gravel roadways with all motor vehicles.
There are two outhouses for tents campers. There is one non-potable water spigot by the log outhouse. There is no electricity on the property. For your own safety and peace of mind, please keep all food in bear safe containers or locked in your cars. If you forget anything, the Washougal River Mercantile is two miles away where you can buy gas and groceries.
Local hiking trails on the Columbia Gorge: Cape Horn Trail just 3 miles from our property and Beacon Rock/Hamilton Mountain trail is a 15 minute drive.
We can give you directions to our favorite swimming hole for cooling down on hot summer days in the Washougal river. (Discovery Pass required at the river) parking spot. Buy those at the Mercantile as well)

The sliding door as you enter is a salvaged US Federal Building Door that glides on barn rails and it has the original mail slot in the door. The retreat is an indoor/outdoor experience as there are two walls that feature beveled shutters that open and the roof is a see through experience to watch the birds, wildlife and stars. The queen bed is super comfortable and there is a small desk filled with maps of nearby places to play. My home for the last 34 years; I have put care, love and abundance in creating a magical garden with surprises throughout. My desire to provide charm and delight has driven most of the details that also includes a pergola that has a swinging twin bed and chairs to gather and chat. There is gorgeous outdoor lighting for at night and hanging chandelier at night surrounded in the deep of summer with mature jasmine bushes that waft their sweet scent from May into September.

Margaux is a 1967 Airstream tucked in our private SE Portland garden. This quiet, nostalgic retreat is designed for those who want to slow down and experience something unique. If you appreciate nature and vintage charm while staying in the heart of the city, this space is for you.
The Space Margaux offers an "elevated camping" experience—think real bed and hot tub meets vintage vibes. The interior is compact and cozy (L: 17' x W: 7'3" x H: 8'). Because she has such specific vintage character, please review the details to ensure "garden glamping" is the right fit for you.
Bathroom & Kitchen: Features a compact, camping-style setup with a propane-heated handheld shower. As the shower is not enclosed, it is best for quick rinses. The kitchenette includes a gas range, sink, and mini-fridge for light meals.
Amenities: WiFi, heating/cooling, and electricity are all provided.
Outdoor Living: You have full access to our garden firepit and year-round hot tub.
Shared Space & Neighborhood We share the property with our friendly dogs and an indoor/outdoor cat. Guests should be comfortable with pets and respecting shared garden spaces. We are in a popular neighborhood, so while the garden is a retreat, expect normal city sounds.
Guest Access & Privacy The garden, hot tub, and firepit are all yours! While the space is shared, we deeply respect your privacy. You may see us gardening or letting the pups out, but we always give you the "right of way" so you can feel truly at home.
Important Rules:
Guests: Only registered guests are permitted. Must be 18+ unless with an adult (13+ welcome).
Hot Tub: Open 24/7. Please keep voices low and music off after 10 PM. Suits required.
Firewood: BYO wood. Mt. Scott Fuel (walking distance) or Woodstock New Seasons/Safeway sell bundles.
Parking: Plentiful street parking. Please don't block driveways and pull in your side mirrors as a precaution.
Smoking: Outside on the deck only; please use the ashtray.

This property was once part of a 200 acre cattle ranch turned into a Christian community. The families shared meals, home-schooled their children and had a home-based church. They raised their own food in a 3 acre garden and orchard along with chickens and cows for milk, meet and eggs. Two of the original families still own
some of the acres although the community was dissolved and much of the property sold to other people.

We love sharing our beautiful land with those that love nature. The sunsets, the peace and the birdsong are the best. Pets are welcome and you can walk through the forest with them on dirt pathways or keep them in your campsite. Please keep pets out of our area, as our dog is very protective and has been known to have scuffles with other animals approaching. Grassy areas are available to set up tents or have picnics. There are firepits for when the burn ban is not on (a wheelbarrow full of wood for $5). The campsites are large and spaced quite far from each other. Please stay on gravel roadways with all motor vehicles.
There are two outhouses for tents campers. There is one non-potable water spigot by the log outhouse. There is no electricity on the property. For your own safety and peace of mind, please keep all food in bear safe containers or locked in your cars. If you forget anything, the Washougal River Mercantile is two miles away where you can buy gas and groceries.
Local hiking trails on the Columbia Gorge: Cape Horn Trail just 3 miles from our property and Beacon Rock/Hamilton Mountain trail is a 15 minute drive.
We can give you directions to our favorite swimming hole for cooling down on hot summer days in the Washougal river. (Discovery Pass required at the river) parking spot. Buy those at the Mercantile as well)

This camper is new and well-stocked. It has heating and AC. The bathroom is small, but is hooked up to the city sewage. Note the bed is an RV queen size. Wifi is free. The camper is located between St Johns and Kenton in charming North Portland. It is safely located in the backyard of the property, and is surrounded by tall fences and shrubbery, allowing for absolute privacy. Beautiful yard with outdoor dining area and hot tub access (hot tub available starting September 2025). We are located a half a block away from the historic Columbia Park, with a long walking path through mature Doug firs, sports fields, pickleball courts and a play area/splash pad in the summer. There are many wonderful restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops located nearby. The neighborhood is safe and we have free parking. We are pretty quiet here:)

Our Garden & Galaxy Retreat in Portland, OR is a stunner. It is built with salvaged materials from nearby painted lady Victorian home that are the pillars at the entrance and the siding is from a nearby barn. The sliding door as you enter is a salvaged US Federal Building Door that glides on barn rails and it has the original mail slot in the door. The retreat is an indoor/outdoor experience as there are two walls that feature beveled shutters that open and the roof is a see through experience to watch the birds, wildlife and stars. The queen bed is super comfortable and there is a small desk filled with maps of nearby places to play. My home for the last 34 years; I have put care, love and abundance in creating a magical garden with surprises throughout. My desire to provide charm and delight has driven most of the details that also includes a pergola that has a swinging twin bed and chairs to gather and chat. There is gorgeous outdoor lighting for at night and hanging chandelier at night surrounded in the deep of summer with mature jasmine bushes that waft their sweet scent from May into September.

We went during the off season and I can't even imagine having a better time. They accommodated us last minute. Very sweet barn apartment that is just above the horses with a little balcony to look out. had everything we needed and my daughter really loved reading the books. It was a luxury to have a regular working toilet in the "outhouse" or whatever you would call a really cute bathroom just feet from the apartment. Although we didn't purchase any extras, we were able to hang with the horses through the gate and they are so friendly. So cool. Loved Spirit the black cat the most we must say. We really couldn't have asked for a sweeter overnight adventure.

Honestly, I think Rhoda’s Hip Camp is the best within a 2 hour radius of Portland!! I stayed at spot number 3, but each spot is huge and very flat for all different types of camping styles. I was testing out my backpacking 1p tent, but my spot was big enough to fit my Snowpeak Land Nest Shelter. I enjoyed how beautiful and peaceful the land was. It was also a plus to meet Rhoda as I feel we connected meaningfully and she made me feel welcome and safe there. The bathroom was super clean and nice! Another plus is that her place is fairly close to the Steigerwald Wildlife Refuge, so if you’re into birding, that’s a huge plus. I went solo camping this time, but if given the opportunity to come back, I think my wife would love it here as I did. Pro-tip: get wood from Rhoda!! They literally bring you a wheelbarrow of wood!!! It was awesome!!

We had a great experienceat at Kayla's land even when it's cold (20F outside). Super cute airstream with everything you need, cozy with a nice yard. Fireplace and hot tube are the big pluses!
The host had been responsive for the entire trip. I'm very impressed by how comprehensive the digital guide is.

Kayla was super kind and communicative! It's a cute, relatively private space (especially for a city spot.) Parking was easy to find near the driveway. The area has lots of great spots to explore within walking distance including a great Boba and game shop.
The airstream was well decorated and equipped with essentials, but it was a bit smaller than I expected, often bumping my head and squeezing by. Also, I would not plan on using the shower. The hot water wasn't working (which Kayla was super great at communicating about and accommodating). But even if it were, I wouldn't have showered, because it would have gotten the toilet, sink and surrounding area super wet, and it was hard to keep dry as is.
Still a great option for a cheap, private stay in the city. Would definitely consider booking again.

We appreciated all the effort that has gone into getting guests oriented to the space (although a few things were a bit out of date - no need to turn the propane heaters on outside to get hot water now!) It’s a cute, quite compact airstream that felt a bit like staying in a vintage themed spaceship :)

Weekend Trip to The Old Barn In The Woods
Check-in and out was a breeze. Communication with the host was very quick. This was a great getaway as we were so close to downtown Bevearton but the barn was secluded enough that my party and I felt like we were off the beaten path and could disconnect from the world. We’d totally stay at the Old Barn again!
