Our farm is located in the center of the Yakima Valley in Southeastern Washington State. The physical address is 3510 Scoon Road Sunnyside, Washington. The Valley is known as the fruit bowl of the nation. The site is located on a farm that has been in production on the Roza slope 4 miles north of Sunnyside since 1945. Surrounded by fields of peppermint, Concord grapes, and a variety of crops within walking distance it is a fertile paradise. The Yakima Valley has thousands of acres of wine grapes, hops, apples, cherries, pears, peaches, and vegetables. Wineries are located up and down the Valley and people drive 100s of miles to do wine tours. A small 6-acre property located minutes from I90 and The Gorge Amphitheatre. Our farm is slowly becoming smaller as some of our older residents have moved on to greener pastures in the sky, but we are still here and still loving the hosting aspect of Hipcamp. Our resident horse Tulip is almost 30 and going strong. We still have too many chickens, six dogs and are looking forward to a wonderful summer!
We are surrounded by acres of farmland. "Quiet time" is difficult to put limits on because we have no control over when harvest for local crops needs to occur. Please be aware that farm machinery may be harvesting late into the night or start very early in the morning.

A little farther and you will find natural pools at Potholes State Park, Soap Lake, Coulee Dam, and Lake Lenore Caves.
Interesting fact: Our homestead is located on the McConihe Flats. 1200 years ago the Sinkiuse Indians would meet on the McConihe Flats and trade. They would also collect things along the shore of the lake such, as duck eggs and reeds, which are still around today.
We are conveniently located between Moses Lake and Ephrata Washington. Only 12 minutes from either town where you can find Walmart, other stores, and resturants for all your needs.

The spots are graveled with partial view of the lake. The owners have a private residence on the location and guests are welcome to use the lakefront property. Robyn and her family were great hosts. We enjoyed the scenic starry night skies and ease of tent camping in their pasture. As a first time hip camper I would definitely recommend Lava Ranch to others. This is a working ranch/farm so lots of animals around. There is a bathroom and shower to use and access can be provided for internet access. They offer a lot of activities that might be new and exciting to city people getting out to the country but we weren’t there long enough to take advantage of them. Just a little over an hour from Pullman and 25 minutes from Palouse falls, the unique location was really convenient for us.

Camping on Kara's land was a very pleasant surprise. We were in the Tri-cities to see our granddaughter play soccer and needed a place not too far from the sports complex to park our teardrop trailer. Brown Barrel turned out to be perfect for us. It is in a suburban area, but the spot, which is right next to a creek, is private and quiet. We slept well to the sound of the flowing water; we brought our own water and camp toilet since there is no restroom nor is there potable water available at the site. There is power, so we were able to plug in the trailer; a real advantage. Nearby are many dining options. We drove a few miles to Badger mountain for a late afternoon hike which was wonderful.
We will return the next time we come to the Tri-cities.

This was the perfect pit stop on our way home! BEAUTIFUL surroundings, we got to see the horses, pigs, sheep, chickens. My kids played volleyball and soccer and we stayed up late playing some of the games that are in the trailer.

Great place to just spend the night and dump the sewer/get water. Not much else to do around there, unless you want to pack and drive again. It was pretty quiet, and a nice stay overall. Follow the owner's directions in terms of parking, the spot is pretty small, we had to back out because we couldn't turn our 24ft RV around without disturbing the lawn.

This was a perfect spot to stop and stay the night on my travels! The location is merely 10ish min off the main highway, which made it so convenient so stop and sleep for the night in a safe, private area that felt comfortable for my dog and I. Will def be my new go-to halfway stop. Thanks Kara!!!

Taylor’s place was the perfect location to camp while visiting McNary National Wildlife Refuge. It was impeccably clean, had easy access to the refuge and to Richland, and was very quiet.
The host greeted me and made sure I had everything I needed. I was glad for the availability of power as the evenings were chilly.
I would camp there again when visiting the area.
