7/1/26 Plenty of free firewood at this time. You might need some fire starter because it sits unprotected. Camp is wooded acreage centrally located between Massanutten Resort and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Currently very, very basic with improvements happening weekly. Currently 2WD is okay and some clearance preferred like Outback sized vehicles over all. A van can fit in site #3 (The Vanner) but will take a multi point turns to come and go. Country vibe but NOT remote. Close to restaurants, and outdoor activities near by making it a great BASE for activities such as mountain biking, road biking, hiking, skiing/boarding, and the floating/fishing on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. A safe / legal place to park for the night. There is a hwy nearby so there is some noise from that but it doesn’t seem to bother most (see reviews). Sites are priced for the amenities they have or don’t and due to location. SUP and Kayaks available free to campers upon request most weekends April 15 to Oct 15 (Campers must be able to transport) Bring a sticker for our collection! -Massanutten Ski Slope 7 mins (resort entrance 2 mins) -Western Slope mountain biking, hiking 15mins or local beginner biking and hiking trails 6mins (great for any kid age) in Elkton - Blue Ridge Parkway 12mins Swift Run Entranc -groceries and gas 3mins -lake type float or paddling on dammed river 12 mins. General Lee and his troops once camped here. But they cleaned up pretty good, so all you can really see is the old spring and wagon road. This is a working herb and small fruit farm. We have been experimenting with all kinds of exotic herbs and trees. Some make it, many don't. We sell dried herb teas. In addition we have 5 different kinds of bamboo. We use the bamboo for so many things. Camptown is our largest site. It features a large fire pit and a circular field that can accomodate 10 to 15 or more tents. You can also park smaller camper vans, teardrops, etc. in this large area. Good for parties, family reunions. The "# person" per site listing considers adults, not children... bring a whole crew of kids (try to have enough supervision - if there is such a concept!) The kids have such a great time out here... it is amazing. They love the labyrinth! By the way, that labryinth entrance is behind the kiosk. It's the largest of it's kind in North America. It seems like we made this place for the kids in ourselves and when actual kids see it they go wild. The last bunch were running and yelping with their picked flowers all round and round in the labyrinth for hours! Also, if you want peace and quiet we have beautiful remote campsites away from all the kids running around the labryinth whooping it up. (sites 4 - 6 - 8 - 9 - 10)

Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. In addition to the many natural features like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and the James River, Nelson is home to Wintergreen Resort and Oakridge Estate and hosts events such as the Lok'n Festival, Camp Jeep, and Overland Expo. Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was by the swimming hole. The airstrip still maintained as such in order to offer aviation-accessible camping. It is s the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features several notable antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film. Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees, raising 3 kids, and working 2 full time jobs so please forgive our works in progress! This is your 30-acre camping playground! Licensed off-road vehicles, ADV and Dual-sport motorcycles, horses, personal electric vehicles and EVEN PRIVATE PLANES are welcomed! Camp anywhere along it or the creeks bordering it. We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so enter at your own risk! There is a Volleyball Net and Horseshoe set for use as well. Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. While you're there check out the Waltons Mountain Museum, which happens to be my old elementary school and my parent's former high school. The Rockfish River dam and quarry gardens are really cool too!

High Camp served as a our base camp for some local adventures; there is a lot to do in this part of the world! Host John happened to be on site when we arrived and helped us identify the exact location of the water and 50 AMP electric supply to the site. We set up near the picnic table atop a knoll, parallel to and just inside the "cut" edge of the field. (The hookups are behind the Bounder Camper (future rental space--currently unoccupied) which is visible to the right as you drive in, up behind the Christmas tree lot.) We did have to go to the max capacity of our wheel leveling ramp and were still a little out of level left-to-right, but we were easily able to level on the long axis with our hitch jack. The property is beautiful with amazing views to the west--prepare for some stunning sunset vistas. We did wander around some of the closely-mowed trails (paths) and enjoyed some of the nostalgic, vintage vehicles set around for fun. We did enjoy the 30 acres of solitude. Some reviews mentioned road noise--we barely noticed it and never found it even a bit annoying. A distant, active train track across the valley added the occasional train horn, which was delightful in our book Had some friends car-camping with us--they also found High Camp to their liking.

Great space, easy to get to sites, bathhouse, large open Dog Park, play areas, pool is nice! Camp has a small store on site, not too far from Luray (a Walmart, auto shops, and restaurants if you need more things.) 10/10 would recommend and return if I can.

I loved camping at Spacious Skies. It was clean, well maintained, and family friendly. The site was good sized and easy to get in and out of. The people were friendly and there were so many activities and fun things for the kids to do. We definitely plan on visiting again! Thank you for a great weekend!

Weekend Trip to Darby Farm

Very nice level site extremely close to all the amazing wineries in Crozet and 20 minutes from all things Charlottesville. Beautiful farm setting with friendly animals and great views. Partial shade in the site behind the house. Very quiet and peaceful at night. Bring an extra long/second power cord if you’re needing the 30 amp connection. Both hosts were extremely nice and accommodating. Will be back in the future!

Best of both worlds - nature and the city… Super easy access to trails. Located in a neighborhood and situated behind a house, the sites are next to a creek that you can easily cross and make your way into downtown. Very peaceful, family and solo adventure friendly.

Easy breezy! We arrived late and a “late arrivals” packet was waiting for us. Our site was clean and the hookups worked perfectly. The trash area was also clean. The little store was really cute but limited - so come prepared. Neighbors were quiet. Views beautiful! They even have a dog park!!

Nice place to stay nearby many great hikes and not far from main thoroughfares. Enjoyed looking at all the old vehicles on the property and walking my dog around. Saw and heard many great birds and caught a good night of sleep despite noise from the adjacent road being pretty noticeable from camp
