3/5/26. Spring has sprung! Plenty of free firewood at this time. You might need some fire starter because it sits unprotected. Camp is wooded acreage centrally located between Massanutten Resort and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Currently very, very basic with improvements happening weekly. Currently 2WD is okay and some clearance preferred like Outback sized vehicles over all. A van can fit in site #3 (The Vanner) but will take a multi point turns to come and go. Country vibe but NOT remote. Close to restaurants, and outdoor activities near by making it a great BASE for activities such as mountain biking, road biking, hiking, skiing/boarding, and the floating/fishing on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. A safe / legal place to park for the night. There is a hwy nearby so there is some noise from that but it doesn’t seem to bother most (see reviews). Sites are priced for the amenities they have or don’t and due to location. SUP and Kayaks available free to campers upon request most weekends April 15 to Oct 15 (Campers must be able to transport) Bring a sticker for our collection! -Massanutten Ski Slope 7 mins (resort entrance 2 mins) -Western Slope mountain biking, hiking 15mins or local beginner biking and hiking trails 6mins (great for any kid age) in Elkton - Blue Ridge Parkway 12mins Swift Run Entranc -groceries and gas 3mins -lake type float or paddling on dammed river 12 mins. (most popular) -river float put in 5 or 10 mins depending on where you want float

Larger site designed for a van sized vehicle or smaller. Best for car camper since it is closest to highway. Wooded. Hammock trees. Fire pit. Full size picnic table. Usable space not counting picnic table and fire pit is 30ish x 35ish feet. Can usually park two vehicles at site depending on size. Overflow parking available past site or in road at site.

Private wooded site near middle of property. Parking available at the site. No electric. No water. Great trees for hammocks. Full picnic table. Main spot for tent is 10ish by 25ish feet. The parking spot at site is 12ish by 30ish ft and is not level. Some have used wood from firewood pile to level vehicle (like for roof tent). A second vehicle may be parked at end of site parallel to camp road. Convenience stores available a couple miles in both directions from entrance. Full on grocery store a couple miles to east. Water and ice machine located 5 mins from entrance to the east. Free SUP and kayak rentals to float at Shenandoah dam available upon request on a first come first serve basis on weekends Apr 15 to Oct 15. Please mention at booking if you want to use them. Most of the gear is stored off site.

#2 Tweener has a 2 seater picnic table. No fire pit (if you have an if you have a solo stove or something like it, you are allowed to have a fire. I’m just not ready to put an you are allowed to have a fire. I’m just not ready to put a fire ring down yet) and not 100% leveled out yet. Best for vehicle camping. It is the newest site so it is still rougher ground. Porta john across road from site. Usable space including table is 28ish by 28ish feet. Water gear available for free on a first come basis upon request on weekends Apr 15 to Oct 15 but camper must be able to transport. Please let host know at time of booking that you want to use it.

This as a temp site for a bit. It is gravel and approx 25-27 feet long and 12-15 ft wide. No fire pit but now has a 2 person table. Designed to be a parking spot for a future home on the property. Porta John HAS BEEN MOVED further down into the camp. Basically made for parking on at night. It is right at the entrance to property. Small Rv or campers (like tear drops) welcome as long as everything can fit without blocking the road down into the rest of the property. You WILL have to either back in or out. Excellent spot for a sprinter type vehicle. There IS a camera up on a tree here but watches the entrance not you. The property entrance is to the right (the sunny area) in the pic.

Taz was an absolute live saver. We thoroughly enjoyed the camp site but had an unexpected car issue that needing immediate repairing and she was flexible with giving us the additional time we needed. Campsite is simple and easy to enjoy despite the mentioned highway. Plenty of random pieces of firewood laying around for the picking. Very clean porta potty. I don’t know if I’ll ever need to pass through Elkton again but if I do I’d rebook in a heartbeat

Pros: the spot was not remote at all. It was nice knowing that we were 3 minutes from a Wawa. We forgot a few things and it was no big deal going there to get it. We had perfect cell phone service so we could talk to our loved ones. The Vanner Spot #3 had a full picnic table and could accommodate 3 tents (the other spots had smaller picnic tables). It was also nice that there was a porta potty on site. Some Hipcamps I’ve been to said they had one but you had to drive to it. It was just right there. Firewood is free so we could keep refreshing our fire all night long. PLENTY of sticks so it wasn’t hard to get the fire going. We didn’t need to check in, which I personally love. We just drove there and that was it! Cons: the highway is visible and audible from this spot, like the description says. We kinda got used to it, but it’s definitely noticeable. The spots are close together, which is great if you have quiet neighbors like we did. We heard someone drilling and hammering during the day and a few gunshots at night. It frightened our dog. At no fault of the owners, we kept finding glass on the ground and 2 ticks were on me within the first three hours. So stay vigilant for that. Overall, it was cool. My wife felt sick right before bed, so we had to pack up and head home. However, we had a blast while we were there. Great location, easy check in, and right where I wanted to be in relation to Shenandoah and civilization. Thanks for the Hipcamp!

I was in town for work, Taz responded immediately to my questions, she was very accommodating. I stayed on site 1, not completely level but close enough to put my tent up. Had a picnic table and a fire ring.

The campsite was inexpensive, and it was easy to find. I would have been hard pressed to sleep on that ground, but I was camping in my SUV, so it didn't matter to me that the ground wasn't flat. It was closer than I expected to a busy road, but when rush hour was over it was quiet enough.

The campground was well kept and had a lot of free firewood for us to use, Taz also took care of a wasp nest for us once we mentioned it to them. Will highly recommend this place. Also sidenote bring earplugs or headphones if you're going to sleep, the roads nearby are a sometimes busy at night.

Taz is very friendly and open. Easy to communicate with and helpful. The property itself isn't really secluded and there's homes and traffic nearby so take note of that but if you need a spot for a night or 3 that's close enough to everything and an easy drive to the national park this is a solid choice

Nice clear spot to set up our tent. Great communication and recommendations. Our pups enjoyed our weekend getaway. Some road noise but didn’t bother us at all. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

My friends and I had a lovely time camping here! Clear directions, easy to find, and very close to Shenandoah. Taz was very helpful and kind. Would absolutely recommend staying here especially if you plan to hike in Shenandoah. Hightop Mountain via Appalachian Trail was about a 20 minute drive away.

Taz has a great spot here. Plenty of firewood, plenty of space to move around, and a great stay for anyone visiting the area partaking in the park, or the many things to do in this area. Doggo friendly also!!

Had a lovely night car camping! The property is sandwiched between two roads so there is a little road noise - but it's not bad at all and it was otherwise quiet and peaceful. Port-a-potty is clean and well maintained, didn't stink like some do and was only a short walk from any of the sites. Host was kind and easy to communicate with, and provided very clear directions so camp was easy to find! Would stay again :)

Enjoyed my stay. The site was perfect for my van. The stars at night are spectacular. The location is convenient to Dollar General and Wawa for groceries and gas. Also close to Skyline Drive and SNP.

I loved car camping at Taz’s spot! As a solo traveler the spot was perfect, you couldn’t see my setup from the road (even with the leaves off of the trees) but I still felt safe enough with how close I was to houses. The picnic table and fire pit were a huge bonus and there was a surplus of available firewood, which just made things so easy for me! I wanted a spot in between the Shenandoah and Harrisonburg and this was perfect. Taz was super great with communication and answered all the questions I had. The port-o-potty was also surprisingly clean and had plenty of TP and plastic bags if needed. I’ll definitely be back when I come back to the park!

The campsite was easy to find and the port-o-John was such a nice amenity to have! It came stocked with ample toilet paper, had good ventilation, and had a pleasant lavender scented tree freshener as an added touch. It’s the little things! The ground was paved so I didn’t have to worry about leveling it out before setting up my tent, plus it was a good size, easily fit a 4-person tent!

My Fiancee and I loved tent camping at site 3! Taz is a wonderful host who has really created a great space for a getaway that's proximate to great hikes and a lovely town! The site itself is very clean, has ample firewood (free, to Taz's detriment), thoughtful and not-too-close site spacing, and a great location! The spaces are very clean, well laid-out, and it's easy to forget how close to town you are. There's a tad bit of road noise, but this is definitely balanced out by the great location. You're proximate to tons of trails and a very nice town with great food/drinks/people just a few minutes away. Taz herself is a wonderful and thoughtful host. If she's around, you should definitely spend a few minutes chatting with her and hearing some of her stories! Overall, Taz has built a great Basecamp to spend a weekend (or however long) enjoying a fantastic mountain area and very cute town!

Did a nice job of cleaning the leaves off the site and providing ample firewood. Well located if you are looking for a place to land while mtn bike riding Western Slope. Located between busy roads, so convenient to a lot but also a bit loud from all the traffic.

Taz’s land was perfect for our group of 4 with 2 dogs. The picnic table and fire pit were so great to have. Taz chopped a bunch of firewood for us before we arrived, so we had plenty. We were able to park our 2 cars with no issue and it was pretty easy to find with good communication and instructions from Taz. There is a busy road very close that you can hear but we got used to it and it was worth it for a site that is reasonably priced, has nice amenities and is so close to SNP

Taz was an awesome and communicative host. We were arriving late and had limited cell reception and she made sure we could find our spot. It's private and primitive which we wanted. There is a road nearby and could hear traffic but we didn't mind. It was perfect for what we wanted. She went above and beyond for us!

My group and I had a great experience at the Vanner location. We had plenty of room to set up two tents and lots of firewood to find around us. Taz was extremely polite and quick to respond, and even allowed us to use her kayaks. The site itself was very nice and extremely close to the Shenandoah park, making it a superb location if you plan on hiking in the park often. The vanner site itself is very close to a busy road, so you should expect to hear the road pretty often. My group and I were completely fine with the background noise, but do expect it to be pretty busy at all hours of the day. All in all, the location was extremely convenient, provided plenty of space to set up, and had a great host. I highly recommend the spot!

I had an awesome time at Tamara (Taz’s) place! She was super friendly and let us use her paddleboards to explore the river nearby. It was a blast! The site had a picnic table, firepit and a clean porta potty

Great place to car camp or pitch a tent! Friendly host, I would recommend renting a kayak or paddleboard. My morning on the kayak viewing the mountains made my trip 100x better. She has some great recommendations for spots and is knowledgeable on the area!
