All of the land on the gravel road in which we live was at one time a large operating farm. The original farmhouse is still present at the end of the gravel road. In recent years the farm land was sub divided. My husband Jacob and I purchased this piece of property 8 years ago. We absolutely love it here and this land is our own slice of paradise. We have 13 acres of private seclusion with a quiet and peaceful creek spot for camping on the back side of our property. We love having a place where we feel we can be away from it all! Also at the same time we are only a short drive away from downtown Lynchburg as well as quick access to route 460. We enjoy that we can get on the river quickly and we frequently take advantage of the beauty of kayaking the James River. Together Jacob and I find tranquility while camping and exploring new places. Welcome to RRF! We are a small ranchette that specializes in sheep, horses, and chickens. Located in Victoria Virginia, the farm is an hour to Richmond, 45 minutes to Farmville, and 45 minutes from John Kerr reservoir (on the boarder of NC). We are pet friendly, and the property is completely fenced. Enjoy free unlicensed fishing on property in our small pond, stocked with catfish and bluegills, or let the pups swim away the summer heat. Enjoy a walk on the nearby Tobacco Trail, fish at one of the many nearby rivers and lakes. Roast marshmallows over a fire and stargaze or catch fireflies all night. All sites have access to a portable compost toilet, and we can provide water for the sun showers. We have tent sites, and an RV site, 420friendly but we do not partake. PLEASE NOTE: No Check In After 9PM! The camp sites are only available with direction of host ( new closer parking area and camp area access gate for 2025!!) Exceptions can be made in an emergency stay. THINGS TO DO IN TOWN: Bike or hike the Tobacco Trail and see the railroad park. Local farmers market and livestock sales- down town. The lake at the VFW- good fishing and lovely strolling paths See the falls or fish and hike at Nottaway Falls. NEAR BY ATTRACTIONS: Swim, relax and enjoy the waterfall at Whittle’s Mill- 35 min drive. John Karr Dam and Reservoir- great sandy swimming beaches. Fishing, hiking and picnic areas. Best place ever! 45 minutes south. . Amenities/ Activities: friendly sheep, goats and horses to pet and feed metal detectors to borrow free fishing and poles provided free fire wood- collect your own or from cut piles laundry for a fee in house pots and pans to cook grill for site upon request free fresh eggs Horse rides available for donation which helps offset feed or veterinary needs. Whisper Creek was founded in 1999. It has been the gathering place for many great friends and camping adventures. WC can hardly be camping, more like Glamping! This is a very private and quiet location. You can settle in knowing that this listing includes a covered picnic area. Which has counter space for food prep and cooking that includes a small sink. But remember, it’s camping so you’ll need to come prepared with a camp stove for cooking, although I do have charcoal and propane grill’s at the picnic area. Fire pit for awesome evening camp fires with free split firewood on hand. All I ask is that you burn it like you split and stacked it. You can gather and relax under the covered picnic area for dinner preparation and/or lounging. We are located within an hour from Wintergreen, numerous wineries, craft beer locations and numerous hiking destinations. Harmony Hut has fresh linens but please bring sleeping bags and/or sheets for the screened in bunkhouse. River access to the James River is a short drive to Howardsville. There you will also find a General Store which offers you the basics, such as Beer, Wine, Ice and a few grocery items. They make the best homemade sandwiches and grilled burgers. Direct river access can be provided via special request. I can also provide shuttling services. But this needs to be mentioned well before your stay as I don't live up there year around.

Hosts were very sweet and accommodating - the tiny house was beautiful and smelled like cedar! Ours had electric and sink water with a composting toilet. We felt safe as it was close to their home property. We were close to hiking and vineyards.

Lacie and her family were extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The tent campsites felt super private, the land is beautiful. They provided us with treats to feed the horses, they keep fishing and cooking equipment in their barn for you to use. They even hooked us up with some cooking oil when we forgot ours. Only minutes from town but you feel like you're worlds away out there. They sent us off with a fresh dozen eggs and smiles. We had an amazing time and will absolutely be back.

Lovely place to camp! We had a great time, and our dog really loved being off leash throughout our stay. Me and my husband appreciated having an outhouse and camp shower too. But something to consider is the walk from car to campsite, which could be difficult for some people. There are destinations nearby to fish, hike, swim and sightsee. The hosts, Lacie and Doug, are sweet and helpful. We were given black walnuts, muscadine grapes and wild oranges that all grow on their land. So cool to see that. Overall, we had a great time!

Charming farm filled with variety of animals. Owners are nice people with great hospitality. Definitely recommend the carrot cake and the french toast breakfast. Nice wooded area for camping site.The sunrise complete with foggy pastures. Would recommend and will return.

Lacie and Doug were the kindest people I have come across in a long time. They cared about my comfort level and were extremely accommodating. They have such a beautiful relationship with their animals. There are a lot of camp sites to choose from and their house has an authentic farm feel. The French toast was delicious. They made it easy to check in and out. I would HIGHLY recommend this experience. I can’t say enough positive things about this family. They have a wonderful son who was very helpful. I had a fantastic time at Reckless Raven! I really enjoyed meeting the sheep, goats, and horses. Doug and Lacie were very generous hosts and I felt right at home there. The campsite itself was beautiful, next to fields and trees with just enough space from the other campsites. I'd absolutely stay here again next time I'm passing through Virginia.

We had a wonderful time at this site! Our weather app said RealFeel 106 degrees, and we were SO happy to be nestled in a shady creek bed where it was at least 10 degrees cooler. It was easy to get to and quiet, and we were visited by a very bold green heron and red shouldered hawk. Great experience! The creek is beautiful and was so fun to explore. Would definitely go back!

Doug and Lacie went above and beyond!! Doug helped me get my camper backed in and leveled. Lacie walked a bottle opener out to us in the rain!! Great conversation. Loved all the animals. Peaceful. Lacie made a killer breakfast for us. Both of them helped pack up the camper and got us on our way. Awesome place, awesome people. We will be back!

Camping here is perfect. They went above and beyond everything that we could have thought of, we really enjoyed the site and conversations. Spending time with the animals was amazing, and we got lucky enough to ride the horses. They were incredibly patient and thorough with how to handle or give treats, and the animals were all so well behaved and loved the attention. The fishing was great, and they took us to the reservoir before going on our way. My favorite however was waking up, and walking the trail as the sun rose above the fog. This was the most peaceful camping I've ever had, and I can't thank y'all enough for hosting!

We had a fantastic time! The site was very private down the hill. My dog loved sniffing around and I felt comfortable with her off leash. The creek was fantastic for the dog and kid to play in! The James River was so close and we spent a while swimming and fishing. Perfect for campers looking for some privacy but with plenty near by! Adding to our list of favorites for sure!

Harmony Hut is a cute little bungalow that has a few of the creature comforts of home like AC, ceiling fan, TV and Internet, while leaving you with the feeling of being in the woods and solitude. The outdoor hot shower is an awesome touch, as is the picnic shelter for cooking and eating. Be prepared to get a few steps in, but nothing difficult.
