We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed.
You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well.
We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest.
Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.

This is your own private island, and it's right in the heart of downtown RVA! The Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain right here at Sharp's Island. That makes for amazing fishing, especially during the spring shad and striper runs.
Some other incredible things about camping at Sharp's Island: You can motor up to it from Ancarrow's Landing, canoe over from the trail just below Mayo Bridge, or make this the destination for your downriver raft/kayak trip; at summer river levels there are oodles of great swimming holes along the banks; fire pit ready and waiting for you. We spent two nights at Creekside Cool Bus with two of our young adult children. It was exactly as described. Clean and comfy. We had plenty of space to put up our tent for more sleeping space, had two lovely campfires, walked the gnome creekside path, and explored nearby Pocahontas State Park. The bus had enough kitchenware to prepare simple camping meals. Cam & Chloe were quick to respond to any questions. A fun place to stay!

Weekend Trip to River Bend Retreat
Great stay! Hot tub got super hot and the grounds were very peaceful. Trevor was very friendly and quick to help when the power was out initially. There was a great brewery 30 minutes away (Fine Creek) and Richmond 40 minutes away.

Had a great time group camping at Hummingbird site! Kathryn is a thoughtful and responsive host, the directions and maps provided made it easy to get to the site and navigate the trails. Driving into Hummingbird is a bit bumpy but not difficult at all with a vehicle thats not too close to the ground, and gives a neat view of the mushroom farm operation. All the campsites are spaced out far enough away from each other to get a real sense of privacy. The RV is better stocked with cookware and games than most Air BnBs I’ve been to, and the instructions for using the generator and water were clear and easy to follow. We had plenty of space to pitch tents, hearing the barred owls in the night was such a treat. Our group was a mix of seasoned campers and some outdoor not-so-enthusiasts, so this site was perfect for meeting those creature comfort needs while still getting an awesome camping experience. The honor system shop was another great treat! Really appreciated how clean the compost toilet and shower were too. This has easily been one of my favorite Hipcamp experiences. So much fun, highly recommend!

10/10 We would give a higher score if we could! Kevin was so welcoming and happy to talk about the workings of the farm. No part of the farm was off lmits and we were able to interact with all of the animals, including the dogs :). The camp site itself is beautiful and kayaking on the pond was so nice. Would definetely come back again!

Weekend Trip to Private Farm House w lake
We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful farmhouse! The property feels like a little piece of magic, with a gorgeous lake, horses, goats, chickens, and the sweetest dogs. There were hummingbirds everywhere, which made the whole experience feel even more peaceful and special.
Maria is a wonderful host and such a lovely person. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and truly added to the warmth of the experience. Our two dogs had an absolute blast and loved exploring the property.
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, animals, and beautiful scenery, this is the place. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already wishing we could stay longer. We can’t wait to come back! ❤️

We had such a great time at the camp site! Kevin provided everything we needed to make this suburban girl feel like a woodswomen. The chairs in front of the tent were perfect for stargazing and kayaking on the pond at sunset was magical. We loved meeting some of the animals especially Mona the goat and their four sweet pups who tried to follow us home! 😊 We can’t wait to visit again soon!

Maybe be a little careful if parking on 1st St, it's a narrow bumpy road and both of our vehicles got side swiped while parked there over the weekend. Of course this isn't Andy's fault at all, just a heads up that there may be better places to park.

We throughly enjoyed our time on Sharpe’ s island. There was plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the sounds of rushing water. My only tip would be to pack some ground beef/hornet spray when you come. One of party set their tent up on the corner between the two “beaches” and disturbed a ground nest. He was stung several times, went and purchased 4 cans of spay and saturated the ground. That was the only negative thing we encountered on our stay. I will definitely return.

Weekend Trip to Earthwalk Ways Retreat
I had a nearby visit with friends that I took the opportunity to turn into a weekend retreat.
Darlene was so nice and welcoming. I appreciate her letting me check in during the evening since I couldn't leave work early. She took the time to show me around the grounds the next morning and then left me to it.
The room was cozy and had a nice set up for tea /coffee and any basic cooking you might do on a hot plate. I really enjoyed looking through some of the books in the room, my favorite was an anthology of wisdom and stories from grandmothers.
I spent time by the creek and one morning saw 3 deer and a buck wandering across.
Also really loved the spa set up. 10/10
I left feeling grounded and will definitely be back the next time I find myself in the area.

What a treat to be able to wild camp on a beautiful island, be able to jump in the water for a swim, hop on my paddle board for some exploration, listen to the cicadas, sleep to the sounds of water ( and some traffic, but not horrible), and also go for a walk in downtown Richmond or on the excellent Floodwall trail.
