Fern Hollow

6 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents80 acres · Waitsfield, VT
Our property is nestled in the foothills of the Mad River Valley, close to the headwaters of the river. The property is composed of wetlands, agricultural meadows, old apple trees, and hardwood forest with 700 feet of elevation. All structures on the property are solar-powered and a rainwater system feeds the sink in the outdoor kitchen. There are a handful of individual camp sites available in the spring, summer and fall, as well as a communal outdoor kitchen with lighting, a fire pit, a stone pizza oven and a sitting/yoga deck. We also offer more of a "glamping" experience in our 14 ft yurt, which comfortably sleeps 2-3 people with wood stove heat and a solar battery for lighting. We love sharing this space with others and offering a rustic forest getaway.

Sesame and Manolito, since then, we have been growing and growing, having now, 25 goats, milking 10 mothers, by hand. With all the fun, that is involve with a farm, we have been making cheese in our kitchen and building a barn. It is time to get the license, for cheese making, and here is when we need your help.We need 20.000 to finish building the barn, with a kitchen, a bathroom, an industrial pasteuriser, a septic system, and much more. That is why we are asking you to chip in a help us finish our dream. If you will like to support small farming please learn about our La Lu farm go to go fund me, We have been doing a CSA, in wich Constancia drives around her Suburu and delivers the cheese, to many awesome supporters at the farm. We are truly greatfull, for their support, but we need more. We need you!Chip in, share with a friend, stop by, try our cheese, be a part of our dream.Luckily we have been able to share our farm, with many woofers, with many schools, yurt lovers and community members, that enjoyed coming to the farm and learn how to milk, how to make cheese, and how to take care of the grapes.La Lu farm: Local Agricultural land use on lincoln Gap rdLa Lu farm is a small goat farm located in the green mountains of Vermont , in Warren. The Argentinean Constancia Gomez and Ex Sugarbush executive chef Kevin Ritchie innovate everyday with new recipes coming up with the best fresh goat cheese flavors in town. We are artisan cheese producers. We are farming 48 acres mostly wooded both sides of Lincoln Brook, on Lincoln Gap rd. We are reclaiming some meadows. We have 26 goats, 20 chickens. Milking now 10 mothers by hand, making cheese in small batches fresh, every day. We make 7 types of cheeses:Chevre, mozzarella, feta, queso blanco, apple wood smoked queso blanco, type of Manchego, and a ripened cheese. Our goal is to preserve and protect the land while using organic principles to produce products for local consumption and enjoyment. Our Chèvre is a fresh, smooth creamy goats spread, with a little bit of tang with hints of berry bushes and clover. Great for appetizers, to mix with herbs, spread on toast with butter, to add to scramble eggs and much more! Our queso blanco is spanish for white cheese, latin america specialty. This cheese is a firm cheese, with a fresh mildly sweet flavor. Great for cooking! Does not melt while fried or grilled! Take on the flavor of the food and spices in a recipe! Our Apple wood smoked queso blanco is spanish for white cheese and is marinated in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt. Great for cooking, for appetizers and for salads. Our Feta is strongly flavored salted cheese, originated in Greece. Often crumbled in little pieces on salads or tacos. Our goat Mozzarella is a firm style cheese with with a slight tang. Good on pizzas, flat bread or marinated with basil and tomatoes. Thanks for supporting local farmers.Stop by for a mate, and pet the goats, milk them, feed them and share the love for nature.

Field and Forest

4 sites · Lodging, Tents134 acres · Corinth, VT
This land is the home to Brad and Sarah, cats, farm animals, gardens and a variety of wildlife.  It is here that we run Roots School, a wilderness earth skills school, instructing adults and youth alike. The land has over a half a mile of river frontage and several streams, a beautiful varied forest, rambling topography, and plenty of wildlife. Many lessons in tracking may be found as whitetails, moose, black bear, fishers, bobcats, porcupine, coyotes, foxes, mink, ermine, snowshoe hare, wild turkey, and ruffled grouse, are seen and tracked. Often times we are also lucky enough to catch a hawk circling the pasture and to hear the barred owls calls in the darkness of night. The diversity of plants, trees, and animals make this an ideal place to study and grow, or simply hang out in and experience.

New Leaf Organics

6 sites · Lodging5 acres · Bristol, VT
We've been farming here for 16 years, growing 5 acres of vegetables and flowers, all marketed within 50 miles of the farm. The farm sits on 90 acres right up against the Hogbacks and is only 5 miles from quaint Bristol village and tons of outdoor recreation opportunities. Our cozy, private, rustic mountain yurt is a 30’ foot space located in an upper field tucked into a wooded hillside. Views facing east are great for watching the sunrise and a kitchen and outhouse mean you’ve got everything you need to get out of town for a few days.* The location provides a serene, intimate getaway for couples, artists or anyone looking for a bit of mindful downtime and introspection. The yurt is insulated and heated by a wood stove. It is equipped with a full-sized bed, couch, breakfast table with four chairs and night table. Linens included.Surrounding fields are available for tent camping should you want to host a larger event and use the yurt for its kitchen and gathering space (the furniture can be removed). The yurt and its verdant surroundings are great for day-long wellness retreats, sound baths, yoga workshops, art classes and more.Farm tours, floral workshops and personalized catered meals by Blossom Kitchen and Catering, the on-site vegetarian kitchen, are available upon request for delivery to the yurt with at least two days’ notice. This is a perfect relaxation spot for bikers and hikers - Just beyond the yurt you can enjoy, or even help to improve newly constructed mountain biking trails Addison County Bike Club’s members have been working on. Rivers and lakes with swimming holes are an easy drive away, as is the charming mountain village of Bristol, with a fully stocked supermarket, two breweries, restaurants of all price ranges, shops and more. We are 30 minutes from the Burlington International Airport, and the closest Amtrak train station in Rutland is an hour drive. It is best to arrive before sunset. Fort Llatikcuf

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Jay, VT
Secluded Stream side Yurt. A couple miles from Jay Peak ski hill is this little abode I erected in 2022. If you’re looking for the basics without all the accoutrements, a stay at Fort Llatikcuf might be your jam. There’s a water source (a clean and clear stream) and a wood stove for heat (wood is on you), along with a bucket and trash bags for your sanitary needs (haul-out yourself or don’t use it and figure that part out yourself). You will be secluded, minus the grouse and the nice (which occasionally visit). It’s a great spot at a great price. Please respect the land, stream and the ethic of the place. It’s quite special.

Private 4 Season Yurt Close to Town

1 site · Lodging3 acres · Montpelier, VT
Our clean, spacious yurt is a unique retreat that guests love in any season. Perfect for the outdoor enthusiast, we are in the country yet just ten minutes to Montpelier and the interstate. Aa beautiful stop on picturesque country roads, and just a short drive to hundreds of miles of trails. Nearby historic sites, boutique shops, and delicious restaurants make your time in Vermont memorable. We are booked nearly year-round: snag your spot now. The yurt is nestled in a private space with fields and forests out the door. If privacy is what you are seeking, look no further. Our house is on the property, but you have your own path to get to the yurt, and cannot see our house. Enjoy morning coffee on the Aidrondack glider, get a good night's rest in a queen-sized bed with beautiful linens, or relax in the loveseat by a crakcling fire. A microwave, electric kettle, coffeemaker, and small fridge/freezer make it easy to prep a meal and heat up leftovers. People love the break from cooking. You are also welcome to use a campstove outside in a covered area with a table. We provide potable drinking water, as well as fair-trade coffee and tea. Inside the yurt there is a handwash station. The yurt does not have indoor plumbing. Guests use a beautiful composting toilet just steps from the yurt, constructed in 2022 and during the warmer months an outdoor sink with potable water. East Montpelier is home to nearly 15 miles of walking trails through rolling farmland and forest. Camel's Hump, Mount Hunger and Mt. Mansfield are all within a half 45 minute drive. The local parks department maintains lovely ski trails with panoramic views, and nearby ponds offer wonderful spots for swimming and boating. If you love life on two wheels, treat yourself to the miles of dirt roads and nearby mountain biking trails. I'm an avid outdoorswoman and will happily point you and your adventurous spirit to the best spots in the area! In addition to being close to several state parks (Little River, Groton, Camel's Hump and Mount Mansfield), East Montpelier hosts a dozen miles of walking trails through woods and fields. Montpelier maintains miles of trails behind the state capitol, along the North Branch River and in fields and forests just minutes away. Part of the charm of a yurt is that you are close to nature. Plenty of natural light pours in, you can hear the birds, and enjoy rustling of leaves. In the spring and fall, evenings can be cool, so you may want to make a small fire in the woodstove to take off the chill. In the winter, we start the fire for you so it's warm when you arrive, and give you clear directions on how to keep the fire going throughout your stay. There is plenty of wood for your use.
