We loved Peter's hipcamp. It was so serene and beautiful. Would love to go again. Sadly, we werent able to get a fire or enjoy much of the river going due to the rainy weather and we also saw a black bear not too far from the campsites so highly recommend bringing bear spray for safety.

2 nights at Grateful Acres Vermont

Grateful acres is a beautiful, scenic camping area. Every year I take my young sons on a dudes trip and this year we enjoyed a couple of nights at Grateful acres. My work schedule changed last minute and I needed to adjust my nights, Stephanie approved the change quickly. She was also kind enough to offer us a cabin, as opposed to our tent site, due to inclement weather. We didn't take her up on the offer, but it was much appreciated and very kind nonetheless. I am a dead fan, own an off leash dog training and boarding business, and love the outdoors, Grateful acres checked all of those boxes. We were fortunate enough to essentially have the place to ourselves being this early in the season, I'm sure thats not always the case! HIGHLY recommend checking this place out.

Absolutely loved the site. The views were lovely. Peter was super responsive and helpful. One thing to note, the water wasn’t visible from the site and required walking down a short overgrown path to get to. Other than that it was perfect and I would definitely stay again.

Site 1 was great, removed from the other 2 sites so we didn't have to worry about our dogs being distracted at all. Site is up the hill from the water, I understand there is river access however we didn't go in because it was too cold! Water, shower and bathroom were a short walk down the road. There were a couple camp grates left behind from prior campers, but would bring your own if you plan to cook over the fire. Clean, easy to use. A short drive away to hike Cat Mountain, with great views. Would recommend!

Had a great stay for Memorial Day weekend, even with the cloudy weather! We tent camped under the tree cover and had a great time hanging by the pond and cooking with the adjustable grill. The porta-potty was very clean and the pathway has lights at night. I definitely recommend this spot! Also easy drive to Monadnock for a great hike!

Weekend Trip to Kindness!

The campsite is situated in a beautiful area with rolling fields, forest, and rocky streams everywhere. It’s also in a settled area and you hear cars/trucks/motorcycles go by day and night though not too frequently. We loved the variety of birds we heard as well as coyote howls! We didn’t have any wildlife visits, however, the owner has a flock of guinea fowl who eat the ticks (heavily infested area-come prepared!) and also has baby goats right now. The campsite was accessible driving through a field- we drove a minivan and an old Trailblazer and the area experienced a lot of rain which meant muddy, slippery travels. While we made it up to the site, I wouldn’t risk my vehicles again. We bottomed out on the path that goes through the grove and were concerned about the mud causing us to be stuck. Use the path that goes around. This area of VT has dirt roads that were very slippery and heavily compacted leading to the area where the site was. The site itself held two larger tents and a pop up with plenty of room to spare. While we found some relatively flat spaces for tents, be mindful of how you set up! The host was at the site on our arrival and was very welcoming and friendly. We paid extra for firewood so I expected $60 of split, seasoned, dry wood. We got some split wood and kindling, and a lot of scavenged wood. All was damp. We would probably camp here again at a different site and buy firewood locally.

Unfortunately, this time around we didn’t get a chance to stay due to a family emergency. We were disappointed we couldn’t stay, but family comes first, and that our refund was/is still a challenge to obtain. I hope to receive my refund very soon as I had notified within the cancellation policy therefore, a full refund is due. (Not sure why I need to leave a review when I requested a cancellation, speaking with the host directly)

Weekend Trip to Grateful Acres Vermont

This is a magical place to disappear and forget about real life for a while. The air is so fresh and the mountain views are exactly what we needed surrounding us, along with our hosts. Stephanie and Noah will do anything possible to provide a comfortable stay for their guests. We had a cold and rainy weekend and any time our heater ran out of propane, they had more. Stephanie even asked if we needed anything from town when they ran errands. I had read reviews (all good) regarding Site 1 being “closest to the road”. To clarify, it is a 7+ mile dirt road with 1-2 cars passing per hour. If anything, it confirmed how off-the-grid we really were.

Absolutely beautiful natural camping experience on Mikes Land, every site is amazing and surrounded by trees, from the breath taking views up top on the “green mt” site to the site by the small pond it was a wonderful private peaceful trip, mike is an amazing easy going guy who respects your privacy and also you may be visited by the cutest group of chickens ever! Right across the street is shaftsbury lake state park for amazing hikes and only 10/15 minutes to bennington VT for any supplies needed. 10/10 will definitely be back to healing springs again!

Amazing view and very private. Could not be closer to Shaftsbury Lake State Park. Short drive to lots of outdoor fun. The grass in the campsite was nice and short so my children could play. Great camp!

Christian was very responsive in advance about answering questions. He greeted us, gave us a brief tour of the farm, and escorted is to our camp site. We had views of the mountain from our site. Sites are private, not stacked on top of one another. Trails on the property and you can connect to the state forest from this property. 4 minutes from the new visitor center and trailhead to various trails. It was a perfect location to camp before hiking and an amazing stay overall. We'll be back.

This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. Maple Ridge Farm

Welcome 2025, this is our 6th season hosting campers! Enjoy all Summer has to offer in the Vermont Countryside yet closer than you think. Our farm is nestled along a country road between several other farms, mostly horses and a special needs/therapy farm, we are hobby farmers/homesteaders. We have three sites open anytime, during camping season (May thru October), they’re all three tent camping sites but after that closes down for the season (November 1st) we open up for camper vans and small trailers (also in early Spring). The Guilford Fairgrounds is less than 1/4 mile away and has many hiking and biking trails. The land was originally part of a colonial Glebe Trust with the Church of England and divided up, the original 100+ year farmhouse and barn can be seen from many of the campsites. Guilford, Vermont is located in the southeast of Windham County, resting along the Massachusetts border to the south and New Hampshire not far to the east. A community with a long and interesting history, Guilford was actually Vermont’s largest town as long ago as 1790. Now, with a population of about 2,100, Guilford is by no means considered a large community. Yet with its beautiful old covered bridges, churches, and one-room schoolhouse, Guilford maintains an unmistakable sense of history while at the same time having a reputation as one of the truly unique small communities in southern Vermont. Guilford has some of the most quintessential small town landmarks in all of Vermont. Sites like the Christ Church, Broad Brook House, and Guilford Center Meeting House were all built in the early 19th Century and are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These buildings are found in what is considered the historic Guilford Center; shop for great local products at the Guilford Country Store, visit the charming Guilford Free Library, or even see some of the exhibits at the Guilford Historical Society Museum to learn more about the area and its history. Located in rural Unity, NH and Charlestown, NH, just across the Vermont state line. Southernmost point, located in Charlestown is one of two campsites. The other is Shady Grove, located in Unity. The two sites, located in bordering towns share the same entrance and are connected by a 1/4 mile trail. Both are very large sites. Campers would drive to both sites down a trail so we highly recommend a vehicle with decent clearance and 4WD or AWD. Southernmost Point is a fully drive-in site. Shady Grove campers park above the site and the campsite is down a short path, just a few hundred feet or so. The property consists of varied terrain of rock ledges, lush moss, streams, and panoramic views at the summit. There are many options of local outdoor activities in the area or if you prefer, just sit and "listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock your soul".

Granite Hill Lodge and Campground is a re-invented campground, brought back to life with the purpose of providing a place of quiet and leisure in the busy Lake George area. Only 20 minutes to Lake George beaches, downtown and outlet shopping, Granite Hill is in a great location to enjoy the beautiful Adirondacks while providing a getaway in the foothills of Fort Ann. The newly designed campground provides a small camping feel with plenty of outdoor space to bike and hike. The property is located on the Champlain Canalway Bike Trail and has an established hiking trail and a smaller walking trail to beautiful overlooks, looking over the Adirondack Mountains. The Campground has 20 sites with a mix of Tent sites, Full Hook up sites (P/W/S) and Power and Water Sites (P/W). Due to multiple reservation systems, we do not have all of our sites listed on Hipcamp. Pitch a tent near or next to your vehicle or park a small to medium sized camper and use it as a base camp while you explore Vermont. We are centrally located to Bethel, Royalton, Queechee, Woodstock, Rutland, Killington, Waitsfield, Randolph, Barre and Montpelier. What is there to do? Visit to our secret swimming hole located nearby...and White River access just down the road. Just up the road is the popular Silver Lake and State Park, great swimming, sunbathing, paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing. We are close to interesting activities, such as the White River National Fish Hatchery, Billings Farm, the Queechee Balloon festival, and more. Near by farm stands sell fresh organic produce, eggs, grass fed meats, homemade food products and crafts. What is there to eat and drink? Nearby restaurants include The Barnard Inn, Cloudland, Toziers, Tessi’s Tavern, Locust Creek Diner, The Bethel Sandwich Shop, Cockadoodle and Village Pizza. Babe’s Bar in Bethel offers amazing creative cocktails in an old railway station. In the village of South Royalton 12 miles away is our local Co-op. There you can access lots of healthy food choices, many locally sourced and lots of drinks, it's our go to market. Three miles up Route 12 is the Barnard General Store and gas station they have just about everything a camper could want. They stock ice, fresh baked goodies, fruit and vegetables, prepared foods and many locally produced delights such as ice cream, kombucha and fresh baked goods. Their meat case features, sausages, thick pork chops, fresh air chilled chicken, local grass fed beef and they always have fresh Farro Island salmon. They also offer wine, beer and ciders. A mile away on 107 is the Locust Creek General Store and gas station, they uniquely offer block ice, diesel and kerosene, drinks, simple fresh sandwiches, many frozen foods and lots of newspapers.
