Nestled on the shoulder of Mount Cabot (4180'), our hillside yurt has a stunning vista of the Connecticut River Valley, with Mt. Lafayette to the south and the Green Mountains to the west. Decompress with a hot outdoor shower and cook over the outdoor firepit as the sun blazes toward the horizon, and look up through the yurt's skylight as you revel in spacious night among the stars. The yurt is grid-powered, the stars aren't. Note: Our wood-fired hot tub takes 48 hours notice for us to make it perfectly hot for you, so please reach out to book it before you arrive! For an even more immersive nature experience, The Orchard on Apple Hill road is ready for your tent or hammock, along with an outdoor kitchen, two hot showers and compost toilets, picnic tables and firepit, and propane cooking burners. The Orchard's solar kit can charge your equipment and boil a kettle for your hot morning cup. The Pond on The Hillside is open to guests for swimming or skating at the case may be. Firewood is included with all sites, so please don't travel with firewood as it's a great way to transport forest-devastating invasive insects. Hikers are welcome to wander along old logging roads through our sugarbush, and along trails throughout the remainder of the property (300+ ac. total) where there are numerous springs and creeks, mystical softwoods, expansive grassy fields, and a wild apple orchard. Moose, deer, and bear tracks are common, but animal encounters are not - still, please sequester your food accordingly and be mindful to carry out scraps or place them in lidded containers provided. Reach out to us to reserve a few precious hours in our wood-fired hot tub, rent snowshoes, or schedule a maple tour and tasting at our saphouse. This beautiful, historic property was one of the first to be settled in the early 1800s. The credited first settler in Charleston, Vermont; Abner Allyn and his family owned this farm for 100 years! Our family began restoring the farmhouse as well as beginning a small regenerative farming operation in 2022. Currently we have a small flock of broilers and layers, turkeys, ducks and guineas. Our birds are fed an organic feed local to Vermont and are pasture raised. Freya an Luna are the Great Pyrenees' about the farm. They protect the flocks from predators. They are working dogs and have access to the entire property. For this-and other reasons, we discourage bringing pets to the farm. A sweet brook meanders through the property which all sites have access to as well as stunning views of bald mountain. Lovely farm views throughout the seasons. Multiple trails for exploring can be found on and off farm. Trail heads to multiple mountains are within a few minutes of campsites. Lake Willoughby is a short 4 miles away, 7 miles to Island Pond, as well as endless hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and more.

You will feel the stresses of life wash away as you sway in the trees and listen to the sounds of the beautiful stream just feet from the treehouse deck. You'll never want to leave! Enjoy a bit of solitude or some special alone time with a loved one. It's hard to beat Stone City Treehouse to make your time away special! After your day of hiking, skiing, or touring local breweries and distilleries, come home to this beautiful, private tiny house in the trees! Or, just spend the day lazily relaxing by the fire and reading, while the sound of the stream soothes you. Walk through the woods, up the stairs, and enter into another dimension - one that you won't want to leave! Much thought was put into the design and local, natural, and recycled materials were a priority in its construction. We prioritize our earth and take environmental considerations into every decision: we generate solar electricity; we compost and recycle; we use environmentally friendly cleaning products; we avoid disposable items as much as possible; and we used many local and recycled materials in the construction of the treehouse.

Tucked away in the Lake Umbagog wilderness, we are a small privately-owned farm with the wonders of the area surrounding us. Boating and fishing? Check. Hiking and mountain-biking? Check. Swimming and Sailing? Check! All the fun and memories that go with camping and bonfires and outdoor cooking! Check! IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: We are intentionally remote, secluded, and off-grid. We are best accessed by water (1.3 mile paddle or motorboat), with a seasonal (May 15-December 1) 9-mile very rough (4wd) logging access road (minimum vehicle clearance 8in---seriously). For first-time guests arriving by road, you will need to be guided in---the property is impossible to find on your own (no gps, no map). If you arrive by road, please note that you must park (free/overnight/safe/secure) at a narrow trailhead and walk to the lakeside sites about 1/4 mile down the hill. We are happy to help you with your gear and have a couple of wheelbarrows and sometimes an ATV. So unless you want to RV/truck/car camp at the trailhead (definitely an option), it is tent-only camping on the lakeshore and garden sites. Please don't ask if you can drive your vehicle right down to the site---we don't even drive our own down. However you decide to arrive, we are happy to guide you at no extra charge. We do have cellular phone service on site and shoreline but NOT on the logging road in. [There is unfortunately no way for us to make the property accessible for guests who need the use of personal mobility equipment. Also, from experience, we MUST caution those with medical conditions that this is a WILDERNESS location, at least two hours from any medical facilities and very difficult to even medevac.] We have a small fishing boat (paddle only), 1 kayak, 3 mountain bikes, and a canoe for rent; firewood for purchase on site; your choice of spots to pitch a tent or use our raised platform. NEW for this season! Powerboats! 20ft/200 hp and 17ft/125hp outboard deep v-hull boats for fun or fishing. Book here: https://www.getmyboat.com/trips/VKVG2V5N/ and here: https://www.getmyboat.com/trips/WYb4rMVN/ Join us for astonishing sunsets, breathtaking wildlife, and beautiful gardens. Please visit meadhillatmountcabot.com to design your own celebration on this delicious land.

This is one of the most beautiful places to live or visit in Vermont. My home for the past 40 years is right next to a stunning waterfall and brook. I love sharing this space with others. I have 3 separate campsites, each with their own pathways and privacy from each other. Your visit here will allow you many choices of ways to relax. My land abuts the 700 acres of school property behind me and I have trail and path access right from my yard to many miles of an old road bed for walking, biking, hiking, or exploring the length of the brook. There is a waterfall across the street. At least 5 different swimming holes and the water is cold and refreshing! I am 20 minutes from the state capital, Montpelier, Vt. You have access to my delicious pure clean spring water from the hose. There is a pizza/restaurant/bar in my town just 6 minutes away. Please, no fireworks, you'll get me banned by the town officials! If you camp here you will feel like you are in a forest, but will be able to drive anywhere with ease.
